Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course I have selected is computer science and engineering. The main reason for following up on this course was because of the job opportunities in the top companies with high salary jobs. In +2, It took the subject of computers as an elective which also influenced the choice for choosing this course. The curriculum of the btech is an all-around development of the student and trains the student to be successful in every domain offered in the industry. Some courses still use the outdated method of teaching, for example, the subject Engineering Graphic Drawing still uses the old procedure of drawing in charts. There are new techniques of doing it. One other thing is that the frequency of the exams is not frequent as the total duration of the not fixed. It keeps on changing due to many factors like faculty and campus function.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college has many student groups of seniors which provide intership opportunities to junior students. The companies like Internshala and Intrainz are also present to provide intership opportunities for students

Placement Experience

2.5

The college is responsible for getting company in the campus for hiring. Students are eligible to sit in placement interview from last year. This year in the year of recession, companies like Z-scalar, hexaware, wipro.

Fees and Financial Aid

Btech CSE semester fees - 44000 There is no hike in the tuition fees whatsoever. Total cost of education(7 semesters) - 308000 Other scholarships include - PMS(Post Metric Scheme), other schemes from state as well as the central government.

Campus Life

4.5

Students of each department organize fest for fresher's party, farewell party every year at the time of admission. Other fests like students fare, stage performance, dj programs. Our university is the main campus so all the sports and extracurricular activities of university as well as affiliated college is controlled by the campus faculty. There are social groups like GDSC, techcoders, bizarre coders.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel is of very good quality with every room having private bathroom attached. there are three boys hostel and two hostel for girls. Meal is served in two boys hostel and the quality of meal is also good. There is option of PG in Jalandhar which is 12km from the campus.

Admission

I got my admission in the year 2022 post covid time. In this time, the admission process of the university main campus is on the basis of JEE score as well as the 12th score. The focus was on the acedemic transcripts, other documents of the individuals. For the application form can be filled online on the official website of university. Also other details can be found in the website. Also the reservation benefits is available in the university.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
