Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course was really very good and we focused very much on practical learning which leads us to a good platform. I didn't participate in any research initiatives.

Internships Opportunities

College didn't provide any internship but they provide us with a chance to go abroad for the semester exchange program. The experience was good.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement scenario was good. At least 75% of students got placed. Major companies like WIPRO, TCS, COGNIZANT, INFOSYS, MICROSOFT, GOOGLE, M&M, DELL, AMAZON. The average package was 3.50 lacs per annum.

College Events

4

There are a lot of technical+non-technical events were organized on the campus. They were very big students from other college come to participate. Yeas organization was very well, and yes the college authorities contribute the same.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is quite affordable because the fee structure is very less than the other colleges. It is 43000 per semester which is equivalent to the fee structure of the very good colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, the college provides scholarships to the students who are eligible for the scholarships. No, I didn't avail any of them.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Yes, we are residing in the hostel and the hostel rooms are quite good than the hostels of other colleges. There is no single room all are of sharing maximum 5 and minimum 2. No, they don't have a PG facility. I paid 75000 per year means for both the semester, The quality of food was also good sometimes not good but overall it was really good.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, interaction with the alumni was quite impressive. Yes, the college provides a much better platform for student-alumni interaction.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is quite good than the faculty of other colleges like Chitkara, Rayat Bahra, and other colleges. They are very much interactive with the students, any student can talk freely with the teacher at any time. They don't create a wall between the teacher and students they are open with the students and way of teaching is also very good they believe in practical working more than the theory part.

Chandigarh Group of Colleges - [CGC] Landran, Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
