Course Curriculum Overview
The course is pretty updated with todays topics. The major subjects are similar to every college here in India. The elective subject are what bring in a differentiating factor every semester. Some of the elective subjects include, MATLAB, AUTOCAD, ANSYS, AI/ML, 3D printing etc. All of these courses are pretty relevant to todays world. In my present course, the subjects are DSS, COA, OS, DBMS, OOPJ, STW, with a vocational elective subject MATLAB. These subjects are vital for knowing the modern computational framework and networking. Despite all the robust subjects, the course fails to provide knowledge on skills that we could monetise on i.e web dev, There are class tests always happening, so that prepares us well for the examinations. The major examinations are held twice every semester with their difficulty level being moderate at best.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee for the four year course is, 1450000. The scholarships are provided to top 1000 students in the KIITEE exam. A total of 4 lac rupees are deducted from the total tuition fee provided the student maintains a CGPA of around 7.5. The complete cost is around 21 lacs including the type of hotel, extra services opted.
Campus Life
The campus is really beautiful. It is one of the largest campuses in India. The societies/clubs are great too. Odisha is very sports oriented, so we have a lot of sprots events happening. Each society holds around 1-2 events every month too. I am a part of NSS and Enactus in this college, both revolving around the concept of youth empowerment. There are food, animal welfare tech, robotics, literary, quiz, etc. societies too. The library is pretty big, and you can get any book relevant to your course.
Hostel Facilities
I have opted for a 3 bedded non ac room in my hostel. I was paired up with two other students in the college. The room has beds, cupboards, tables and chairs. The toilet compartments are present in a general room. The menu changes around every 2 months. The quality is decent and heavy based on a carb diet. The hostel fee is around 1 lac per semester, which includes meals too. The registration is done every semester online.
Admission
The entrance test was CBT at home. The eligibility criteria included completing your higher secondary examination. The application form can be found in their college website. I saw the advertisement on a newspaper, so I applied for it. It didnt have any registration fees(RS. 0) so that was convinient. The exam has been made offline now. During my time, it was online due to the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic. The exam was held 4-5 times, each time my percentile increased. The difficulty level of the examination was easy if compared to government college entrance tests like JEE. After I was shortlisted through a rank of around 2000, in the college entrance exam-KIITEE, I travelled to Bhubaneshwar to take admission in KIIT. The admission process was pretty freeflowing, with general resitrictions of wearing masks and producing COVID reports at that time. I was allotted a hostel the same day after the admission.
