Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum at KIIT is in accordance and updated according to the NEP(National Education Policy) of govt. The curriculum prepares you well for real-world applications or further academic pursuits. The professors in our college are from good IITs(Roorkee, Madras, etc) and are well qualified to teach students. You can also work under a professor of you want to write a research paper. Now come the exams, so after 2-2.5 months mid sems are conducted and the end sems are conducted 2 months after mid-sems. Mid sems are of 20 marks and end sems are of 50 marks. You get 30 marks for internals which will be awarded nicely if you submit assignments and appear for quizzes on time. End sems are comparatively more difficult than mid-sems. For lab classes, a sessional exam is held at the end of semester which holds 60 marks and rest all marks are awarded through continuous evaluation in labs.
Internships Opportunities
After joining KIIT, you get dozens of emails daily for internships. So I would advise that you check if they are valid and then go for it as they help you develop skills and also give you some experience which gives you an edge over other students and helps you get ahead of the crowd.
Placement Experience
I think from the 7th semester onwards a student is eligible for placements. But if you are a bright child, you may get pre-placement offer or paid internships. Many companies like Amazon, Capgemini, Highradius, Wipro visit KIIT. Recently, Bill Gates had visited KIIT, so I think that maybe this year Microsoft will come to KIIT too. The average package is about 8 lakhs and the highest goes to 54 lacs or something like that. They say 100% placement is done, but i.e. if you count the mass recruiting companies too. After graduation, you can either get a job or pursue higher education like Ph.D or M.Tech according to your wish
Fees and Financial Aid
I don't know much about tuition fee increase policy but they have increased since previous two years. The complete cost of my education i.e. tuition fees, hostel and mess fees all included amount to 450000 per year. Also you have to do the exam booking once every semester, so that costs 1000 rupees more. Scholarships are available to the students who top in KIITEE entrance exam or get admission in KIIT through sports quota. Also you can avail student loan from bank and study here. There are many internship opportunities provided by our college and if you study decently, you can get a pretty good one for which you may be awarded stipends. I would say the course is a little expensive compared to what you pay but yeah whatever.
Campus Life
There are many societies at KIIT like any other university and many events are organised by them throughout the year. An annual fest is officially held by KIIT once a year. There is a separate building called "central library" where you will get a whole lot of books and journals of every genre. The classrooms are technologically advanced. Students are also offered opportunities for any sport they are interested in. Overall, this all help you in building your personal self and help you get good seniors.
Hostel Facilities
There are different types of rooms and accordingly you will be charged for the room you wish to stay in. For 3 bedded Non AC rooms it is 56k per year, for 3 bedded AC it is 100k per year and there are 2 bedded AC rooms available as well which falls into the category of premium hostels. There is a reading room in the hostel as well or you can go to the central library or departmental library to study alone if you want to. I think the mess food is the same in all colleges so there's nothing much you can do about it but yes the menu changes every 3 months or so. The registration process for hostel will be done once the results are out and you have decided to go for KIIT.
Admission
First of all, to be eligible for this course you have to score above 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in board exams. For applying, go to KIIT website and you will see that there will be an option to fill the application form for KIITEE(KIIT Entrance Exam). When I had filled the form there were no application fees (back in 2022) and the exam took place in 5 phases i.e. 5 shifts. After filling the application form, you can either appear for the exam in offline or online mode. During the exam, you will be asked to turn your camera on and be monitored by a proctor as you write the exam. The questions asked are not much difficult if you have basic grasp of all the concepts. Also if you are among some top students, you get scholarship in college fees. There is also reservation for those applying through sports quota. I don't know much about SC/ST but I think there exists reservation for them too.
