Course Curriculum Overview
Yeah there are few good courses as electives in each semester. Like we had professional communication in 1st year and Economics in 2nd. Which are important for engineers to learn. But rest, more or less the curriculum is the same as the rest of the colleges. The same old typical subjects where we are studying to become programmers we have to learn about those outdated hardwares. Microprocessor and stuff. I personally don't see any relevancy in real world. Students barely remember any of those stuffs after the semester. Also, we have placement classes seperately where they teach actual placement stuffs like Logical reasoning, Quants, Coding etc. So they could've done this from start. My suggestion for improvement are add more vocational subjects which teach real industrial based stuffs and remove old outdated parts. Exams should be held only for the semester end, imo. They take mid sems and so many tests and assignments that we don't have time to explore extracurriculars.
Internships Opportunities
There are many internship opportunities in KIIT. They have their own Virtual Internship programs. They also have summer internship programs here they provide many offers. Many companies visit here in good numbers companies such as Goldmann Sachs, JP Morgan, HP, Dell, OYO, Accenture provide stipends from 2000-10000. Many of the people I have met have got even better offers. Roles might very but mostly developer. They also have their High Radius in the campus which provides internship stipends for research.
Placement Experience
Placement as of current scenario is poor. Not just of this college but throughout engineering colleges of India. Placements are decent as what I heard, 8-9 lpa is the average package. Students become eligible for placements in 6th semester. Many companies visit the campus like JP Morgan, Infosys, TCS, HP, Goldmann Sachs, Delloite, Accenture etc.. all the information are in the website. I personally don't know how much offer they make. They don't let the news out . Highest package as of last year was around 82lpa and average was 8 lpa. Around 70-80% student get placed. But as of last year the percentage may have gone down as the placement wasn't that great. My plans after the degree is either doing mtech from IITs or a Job.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college is way too expensive. I don't have idea about tution fee hikes. But it's expensive. We do have AC classrooms and Smart TV for classes but that doesn't justify anything. The crowd is too much, from an individual perspective it's seems a waste of money to come when you can't enjoy all the facilities you've paid for because of the crowd. Also, the actual curriculum is same as all the engineering colleges, so I don't really get it. Our complete education costs 19-20 lakhs min. (13-14 tution fee, rest hostel mess etc...) Also they take fee for everything. Shouldn't it be included? They take examination fee of ?1000 for end sem exams. There are few scholarships available those who come from JEE but they require higher percentile. And I don't think anyone with such percentile ever come here. Rest are of KIITEEE topper they get stipend of ?10000 and there are few other scholarships listed in the website. So only the college infrastructure is worth the money.
Campus Life
Campus life is good not gonna lie. Only good thing here is the beautiful campus, but that comes with a twist, if you come in a relationship or in a group with your friends then you'll enjoy a lot otherwise you'll feel lonely and left out in such a big crowd. Library is great, so many resources. Accessibility is not the issue. Our annual fests are KIIT Fest. Mostly held in February, of 3 days, they include cultural as well as tech fests. Facilities and technologies provisions are great. The Infrastructure is very great here, in the campus or in the classrooms. Sports as much as I've seen football and cricket are played a lot. And there are basketball courts, swimming and other various sporting activities. Sports are also a good part of KIIT. Although the management sucks. Club involvement is mid, I'd say. There are a lots of club, but due to such a big crowd all the clubs are flooded and it seems a complete waste of time.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel is good as compared to the hostels of other private colleges, ours is far better. They have all types of room, 3 bed ac, non ac, 2 bed ac, 2 bed non ac, premium rooms (bathroom inside your room and lift in hostel). Room size is big, well conditioned bed, mattress and pillow as well as good table. Fans work great and AC too. Hostel mess, I mean it's better than other colleges. But pretty mid. Sometimes they serve good food. Sometimes they taste awful. But eatable and menu is changed after a month or half for change in the diet so I'd say the hostel and mess are decent. Registration process is simple they give you a form or something I don't remember but it's easy and ig hostel is pretty affordable atleast the 3 bed non ac rooms. It costs around 28000 per sem. But considering the fact that semesters are usually 4-5 months rather than 5 these days they should reduce the prices.
Admission
So the eligibility was simple you should be from science background and have to score around 50% in boards. Application form is free and available on their website, including all the other details. So I applied it because it was free, most of the students do for the same reason. At my time exams were online so we didn't have much issue of timing. Difficulty was medium I should say. Exams are held in 5 phases so there are plenty of chances that's why it increases your chance to get admitted. Because that's what the university wants. My suggestion to improve the admission process would be to increase the eligibility a little bit. Reduce the number of attempts and increase the cutoff. There's so much crowd in here. Coming to reservation, I applied in general so I have no idea about reservation benefits.
