The new syllabus which have been implemented recently is very huge and very difficult to manage from students perspective.And many subjects as well as chapters are included which are not required under current circumstances.But the practical knowledge imparted is quite good which will help us in excelling in our sea life.

As I mentioned earlier that internship opportunities available here are quite good if you want to gain good amount of knowledge and hands on experience in this profession.For example cadets can go to INS SHIIVAJI(Indian Navy),GRSE, Mangalore Port, Madgaon Port,MMD India.But these are not paid.One have to spend his own money to arrange travel expenses as well as accomodation.

The campus placements are excellent.World's most top companies visit our campus on a regular basis thanks to our excellent pass out network.Companies start coming from 2nd year itself and sometimes they come in the 1st year also.The employment rate is also quite high as you only require to be all clear in the semester exams and have a good personality, intelligence,basic technical know-how about the course and emotional strength.

The course is divided into 8 semesters.And each odd semester costs about 1,25,000 and even semester costs about 1,00,000.which includes hostel fees,mess fees and tution fees as well.The fees is much much lower than the other private universities.The scholarship opportunities are also pretty good though they are not paid but we can gain excellent knowledge through it.Like we can go to INS SHIVAJI,GRSE, MANGALORE PORT,MADGAO PORT etc for internships.

The campus life is quite good.Having a lush green campus also help in keeping a good mood.But the infrastructure is a bit old but it's manageable.Annual fests are also organised here known as the Tempest which is also the Asia's largest marine fest.The sports facilities are excellent.Ncc is also available here.And the regular time table for the cadets also places us a cut above from the other colleges.The senior junior interaction is also very good and everyone helps each other if any problem is there.

The new hostel constructed is excellent where two cadets live in a single spacious room.Though I would also like to mention that the food quality is very poor.The menu is very repeatetive and food tastes are not up to the mark.Since the course is residential hence you have to take up the hostel which is inside the campus.The fees is included in the annual semester fees itself

The admission process is quite smooth.You have to get a good rank in IMU CET exam.And 65% and above in PCM and english.Ths form can be found in the official site of IMU itself.It is held once a year for the August batch.And I felt that the difficulty level of the exam is quite easy as compared to other national level engineering exams.

The facilities available are mostly the passouts of this institute only.And hence they can provide a greater value to us by sharing their personal experiences along with the course material.The notes they provide are also top notch which will not only help us in this exams but will help us in our sailing career also.The teacher is to student ratio is approx 1:40.And they are easily approachable.
