Remarks

The college management was very strict on discipline and would uphold high standards. Ability to run the college without any disruption is really commendable. Being able to get so many companies for placement on a bad year is a big achievement. hats off t

Entrance Preview

When we were getting in BIT Mesra, Ranchi used to conduct an all India competitive examination for selection. I scored almost a perfect score. The exam would not be that difficult but needed to score high to get a call for interview. The interview decided whether we could get an admission or what branch. The college has great faculty, infrastructure, placement record, alumni and curriculum was completed always on time without exception.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I was in the electrical and electronics department and the faculty of this department was at par with any of the leading IITs as per AICTE. The curriculum was tough and tested students practical approach. All students are required to make a project for the last 2-3 semesters. Almost all the projects submitted in our group were new ideas and some won awards in tech fests and some went to actual production and being used in the industry.

Internships Opportunities

The college did not have an internship program as such when we graduated. It does now with the support of the alumni. However the college would support the students in getting internships. Some of the companies that i can recall would be Tata Institute of Fundamental reaserch, DRDO, ISRO, Airtel etc.

Placement Experience

4.5

The college had a record of over 95% placement in our batch. Companies included TCS, Oracle, Wipro, Infosys, Aricent, Huges, Agilent, Cognizant, Tavant, Satyam, Accenture, Cadence, Indian Army, Techmahindra to name a few.Salaries would be from 2 Lakhs to 5 Lakhs per annum.

College Events

4.5

The first celebration for any batch starts with freshers welcome parties from the seniors to the juniors. Between exams one would try to organise the technical seminars, national festivals, cultural fests and the annual tech fest.Along with this there would be annual sports events for track and field events, plus basketball tournaments, cricket, badminton. All students are encouraged to participate in all events right from organizing them to participating and cheering the participants. The sporting events would be atleast a state level competition. The annual fest would involve lot of outside college students coming and participating in these events. There were cash prizes for all events. There were lots of clubs that would be organizing variety of events. Right from Musical shows to computer programming events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

One might say that the fee structure was quite expensive for our times.Every semester the tution fee would be around 22000. so a total of 44000 for one year just for tution. Additionally there would be hostel charges and mess charges. It was expensive compared to any IIT. The only place that i could recall to be more expensive would be manipal and Amity.

Fees and Financial Aid

Lot of underpriveleged students were given stripends and scholarships. This was based on the merit of the student and the family income of the student. Additionally there are several scholarships from different companies and NGOs.

Campus Life

4.5

Huge campus, lots of tress, amazing sports facilities, great computer infrastructure. Our college had one of the 10 PARAM 10000 in the country at that time. Over 600 computer systems for different disciplines.Hand picked students from different backgrounds and all of them were street smart for sure without exception.we were a total of 550 students of which 170 were girls.52 clubs, LEO, Rotaract, Photography, Audio visual, IEE, IEEE, Association of computer engineers, Fine arts society, National service scheme, Highlanders adventure club to name a few.Lot of students coming from affluent and political back ground.NRI quota was 15%.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel and mess food would vary from hostel to hostel. The freshers would have poor quality food and sharing rooms. With every year the quality of food and rooms and services would improve. The college believes that one needs to go through the hardshi

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors in every department were more supportive then ever. Right from studies to sports; they would be there. Not much interaction with the alumni though.Seniors would share books, cycle, drafter adn notes. Nothing less than an elder brother or Sister.

Exam Structure

The college had mid semesters and end semesters and 2 semesters in a year.Additionally there would be lab tests, 3 quizes per subject. From one exam to another there would be no time. Between lab assignments, submissions and exams there would be no time t

Faculty

5

The Electrical, Mechanical and Civil departments were rated at par with the IITs. The electronics and communication was almost there at the same level. The computer department did not have a great faculty. Electrical students were always having extra clas

Course Curriculum Overview:

Actually my branch is Electronics and communication engineering but my major interest lies in development area , i have gained all the skills in my college by my own taking some guidance from the seniors as they are very helpful and supporting. Improvements in course curriculum could be like they have to basically add one more course or any training program to help students for making skills and teaching them for their placements.(apart of the course , i am saying not because i am from ECE department , its common from any branch student)
