IIIT DHARWAD, Review by Mann Yadav

The IIIT DHARWAD follow a well new enhanced curriculum as in other iiit's . I choose this course because it specially focuses on the IT sector jobs and Coding from the very first semester unlike other nit's and iit's. Apart from it the Course curriculum is designed in such a way that in every semester apart from the core subjects a valuable life skill subject is also included such as Professional Communication which prepares students for the upcoming job interviews and other things. The course can be well completed before exams and synchronised in a good way. The course has a descent difficulty level .

There are not much internships opportunities are provided by the college. Students have to get it on their own most of the time because the Placement cell is very bad. Recently college has signed an Mou with the IIT Dharwad to provide students better internship opportunities.

After the 7th semester students become eligible for the campus placements. In the recent times around 50 conpanies visited the campus and 190 offers are given to the students. Highest package in the Cse is 35 lakh per annum. Average package in the Cse is 10 lakh per annum. 80 percent srudents get placed . I want to persue Mba after my degree.

The tution fees for 1 year is around 4 lakh. So for your 4 years of Btech degree you have to pay around 16 lakh. Apart from it 40 thousand is charge as hostel fees per semester. So for a 4 year Btech degree will cost you around 20 lakh rupees including all your expenses. The tution fees is not increased every year and college also provides Education loan facility to the students with Mou with the Canara Bank. Other than that college also provides scholarship for pwd students and Sc and St students and students of the respective state according to their family income. No scholarships for the students whose parents do government jobs. No special campus employment is provided High fees is the biggest drawback of this college since facilities provided did not match with the fees taken.

There area not too many fests that are being held in the institute but Habba is the main fest which is being held at a large scale. Apart from it Sangeet and Kannada fest also held in the institute. The reason for not organising fest is that institution do not provide funds . The college do not have any big library.It only has a small room for all the course textbooks which one an issue whenever he/she wants. Online Knowledge and Resources centre provide free access to a large amount of books. Classroom are well furnished and contains both white board and the led for the lectures. Nearly all sports facilities are provided but the college do not maintain the grounds of the respective sport nor they have any coach for any sports. But still students have a good track record in the inter- iiit securing overall 3rd position.

Hostel provided to the students are very newly build and have very good furniture and good quality table and chair including the personal almirahs. Students have to broom their room on their own and common areas are cleaned by the staff. Very large washrooms are provided with good quality drinking water and bath water. A big led and table tennis is also available in the common room in the hostel. There are no mosquitos and flies in the entire hostel. The meal is provided 4 times in a day . The overall quality of the mess food is decent but the quality of the Chappati(Roti) is very bad. Also no sweet is provided except on special lunch day. The admission in this institution is veing held through the Josaa Counseling. One should have qualified the Jee Mains entrance examination to sit in the counselling process. Application form and the necessary details along with brochure can be found on the college site as well as the Josaa Counseling site. In first 6 rounds of Josaa one can get benefit of the their respective category (Sc , St , Obc) . In Csab rounds one get a seat on the All India Quota that is on the base of Crl rank .

Most of the faculties are phd scholars from very renowned IIT's and NIT's. The faculity- to - student ratio is comparable and most of the students gets enough to time in the sessions or classrooms to interact with the faculty. Inspite of it one can approach any faculty during the college hours in their personal cabin for any type of problems related to subject. A major setback of the faculties here is they are less experienced in terms of teaching except for the Hod's and few more. Faculties also help in additional projects and hackathons conducted outside the campus and help in preparation. Also they motivate when students feel low about themselves. But there are 1 or 2 faculties which sometimes discriminate between north and south students since the college is in the south of India.
