Remarks

Good Remark: Great Academics, Brilliant Opportunities. Bad Remark: High Fees and there are timings for girls to roam outside the hostel that is still 9:00 PM.

Entrance Preview

I wanted a college where I can develop not only my academic skills but also the skills required to develop my personality. Thapar offers me great opportunities to explore myself and my passion. Before coming to college, I have heard from the people that there are several clubs and societies to follow your passion and interest, and it was totally true. And the result being, I am an active member of many societies in my college, pursuing my passion.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is much better as compared to so many colleges. It is influenced by its partner institutions that Trinity College of Dublin. Subjects including Mangal Projects and Pulley Projects have been inherited from Trinity College. Rest of the course is as per other colleges.

Internships Opportunities

My college brings several companies in the 5th semester as well as 7th semesters for the internships. It is up to the students who are able to grab those opportunities or not.

Placement Experience

4

Like I said earlier also, that College brings several companies to the students. It is up to the students that are they able to grab those opportunities or not. Like in 5th semester, we have companies that give us internships and PPO(Pre Placement Offer) based on our performance. And there is a list of companies visiting in 7th Semester for the placements( varying from high packages to lower ones).

College Events

4.5

Events like: Saturnalia: One of the biggest Techno-Cultural fest of North India TFF: Then we have Thapar Food Festival, The only food festival till date in North India. Then various events and fests like: Urja, Ignite, Mudra, Sur, Shoonya are some fests for sports, dance, music, Maths.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Yes, this is the point which should be clear as the fees of Thapar Institute is a bit higher. And there is a 10% increase in the fees every year. I know that the facilities and opportunities given to us are worth it. It's up to the students to tap all these facilities. But still, I find the fees higher as it is worth. Around 20 Lake for a four-year degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, there are scholarships for students with high merit in JEE and 12 class. Also as per the performance on college, scholarships are awarded to top 10% students Branchwise.

Campus Life

4

The thing I love the most is Campus Life. There is always something happening in the college like some workshop, some fun or game event or some fest. So you will never get a vote in free time or after college. Regarding the gender ratio, it is the same as any other engineering college. Labs and Sports facilities are well equipped. There is no lack of competitions. And they are good in quality as well as quantity.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel Facility is brilliant and compared to other colleges. There are different options available to the students to seek from AC to non AC rooms. And the Mess food is also very hygienic but not so tasty( but bearable). But that too because if the higher cost of Hostel and mess.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, I am the part of a society called Student Alumni Interaction Cell which aims to bridge the gap between juniors, seniors, and alumni. So they are very helpful in the development of such relationships.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is the same as most of the colleges. We have Date sheets being uploaded to our personal web kiosk provided by the institute. Then, there is the very little scope of unfair means of attempt if exam. Exam Halls are totally understood control and discipline. One can easily focus on attempting his/her exam.

Admission

For getting admission in Thapar, You have to give an entrance test i.e JEE MAINS. And you will be given your preferred branch according to the tank you scored in that entrance exam. Branches like COE, ENC, and ECE requires the highest score in JEE followed by Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, and others. For Branch like Biotechnology, there is a separate entrance exam named as NEET.

Faculty

4

I would say 75% of the Faculty is brilliant in both Teaching methods as well as knowledge fields. And rest of them are just good in them, but I didn't find any Faculty to whom I can rate below average, and the reason for that is the interaction and survey from the students regarding the same which keeps the higher authorities updated regarding the quality of education being given.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
