Remarks

Overall Thapar is a good college if you are financially strong.it is better than vit/manipal/srm according to me but it is facing a downfall in recent years.

Entrance Preview

Best college near my hometown.! Thapar has good placements and has an average package of around 6 lakhs. It has a large campus and life is good here and my cousins also study here so I knew this was the best choice I could make. and my marks in jee were not so good so this was the best possible choice

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course is taught well in classes and there is ltp system that is lecture tutorials and practical. There is an app developed by students of Thapar itself name as "my her up" Which has all the materials and course curriculum available in pdf format online.

Internships Opportunities

I m a first-year student so I don't have a very clear idea about the internship over here but yes our college provides internship in the 3rd/4th year.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement is descent at thapar.there is a competition for Cs batch since it has around 600 seats and their average package must be around 7 lakhs.! Other branches also have good placement averaging around 6 lakhs.mechanical in Thapar is a good core branch to choose.it has the best senior faculty.

College Events

4.5

There are lots of events in our college. There is almost no day in a year which does not has a single event expect exams. There are around 50 societies which keep conducting events. some sports fest are thaparlymics, ignite and ace.there is a cultural fest Virsa and other fests like saturnalia mudra and frosh take place.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very expensive because it is a private college. Per semester fees are around 1.5 lakhs and hostel fees are around 30000 so which sums up to 1.8 lakhs/sem. Total expenditure is around 15 lakhs for 4 years and adding personal expenditure it can go as high as 20 lakh.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are many scholarships in thapar.these are given on the basis of the jee mains marks and the board marks.! Scholarship is also given on the basis of CG maintained in college.

Campus Life

4.5

There is 50% Punjab quota in Thapar and majority of people are from northern India. There are few people from south too but they may feel excluded. The gender ratio is better than other colleges. It must be around 4:1.there is a lot of extracurricular activities and competitions in our college.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels are good and mess food is also okayish. There are 8 boys hostel and 5 girls hostel in total.Ac/no-ac and sharing nonsharing room all are available. Mess food is also good as compared to other colleges. A good thing is that there are no hostel timings for boys but girls are not allowed outside the hostel after 8:30 pm.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are good here. There has been no ragging case reported till date. They are helpful and give you all the info whichever they experienced.

Exam Structure

There are eight semesters and each semester exam takes place three times. We have mid-semester examination, end semester examination, and sessionals. In sessionals, there are lab evaluations and quizzes. Each examination has a different weight which varies from subject to subject.

Admission

To take admission in the Thapar Institute of technology we need to get marks above cutoff which is declared by Thapar depending on the number of seats in each branch. We need to give jee mains after 12th and need to clear the cutoff and it also had a basic and low cutoff for boards.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty of the college is well qualified and has done graduation from iits, nits or well-recognized engineering colleges. Most of them are not that hardworking and mostly they teach through slides but few are really dedicated to their job and teach the subject in depth.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
