Remarks

I could say overall college is good but lacks in average placement package and its curriculum which could get better as I said it is very good but I think it could much more things.

Entrance Preview

I got in college in the year 2016 and in that year with these marks it is tough to find a good college but Thapar I think is a very good college for students who did not get good marks in jee, there are many colleges u get at these range of marks but I think Thapar stands out in every aspect.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I think the course curriculum Thapar has is appreciable. They start you with basics of programming for all branches in 1st year and many more basic concepts subjects you get which will enhance the brain capacity. I'm in 3rd year and the kind of subjects I had and I m going to have is sufficient for placement. Also, you have to do your effort to make it happen.

Internships Opportunities

For 3rd year students, till now 9-10 companies came for internships like rubrik, jp morgan, Microsoft, de shaw, texas instrument, arcesium, and 2-3 more with stipend in range of 25k to 50k and more.

Placement Experience

3.5

From current placement data, it is been really good. It is like till now more than 60-65% students(1000) get placed with average package 5-6 lakh per annum in really good companies having a great growth in the future. The number of companies came for placement for last year is roughly 250. Companies like Microsoft, JPMorgan, Deshaw, texas instrument giving the highest packages. JPMorgan, Texas giving about 18 lakh package.

College Events

3.5

I could say every month our college has some entertainment for us. We have saturnalia-techno-cultural fest in November it is about week fest including technical competitions and many performances of bands, celebrity, and much more. Many societies in our college arrange hackathons at a great level, some of them are with coding blocks also. There are many events like pitchers where you get a chance to pitch your startup idea and you could the opportunity to work on them. Participation is simple, you just have to fill Google forms.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As Thapar is a private college so fees of college are high. Thapar's fees increase every year. Each year fees is approximately 3 to 3.5 lakh without hostel. So for four years, the total would be 12 to 14 lakhs without hostel expenses. Some branches have high fees than other like computer, electronics have the highest fees than civil, chemical.

Fees and Financial Aid

Thapar provides a merit list based scholarship. It is based on 12th marks and your cgpa. Then they select students from each branch give the scholarship to them. Don't know about the loan facility.

Campus Life

3

Campus life of Thapar is great. You could you everything here access to labs is very easy, we have inter-college sports program for games like football, cricket, and many more games. There are about 30 to 35 societies in colleges for every branch, for every skill going from content writing to acting. Boys to girls ratio are greater than one but opportunities are equal for them, there is no politics about it. I could say Thapar's life can make you learn everything hard work, enjoyment and it could lead to your dream.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostels are about 1 to 2 km from academic area. Some of the old hostels have bad infrastructure but nee hostels are having really good in infrastructure and facilities. The mess food is above average. The hostel provides washing machines, gym and many more facilities for students. I would say if you get admission in Thapar then you must take hostel because pg rent plus food cost you much more than the hostel and if pg is far, then you have to take public transport which also cost you more.

Alumni/Alumna

Because of the societies and cultural events, connecting with senior is very easy. Yes, they are helpful. Whatever query you have you could just ask them, they help you.

Exam Structure

Before exams, we have practicals and it gets so hectic that you have to give your 100% in everything. As the internal marks for every subject range from 30 to 35 % so you have to do good in your lab eval. After all lab eval, you straightly enter in an exam phase but I think all these things make us stronger because when you were in school you give exams in a chilled out manner no worries but in your professional life you face these moments where you have to do a lot of things simultaneously so this structure of exams is just like training before you enter the professional life.

Admission

After jee exam, the application form of Thapar will be out and we have to fill this and then after jee result, they give out their cutoffs for various branches according to jee marks you get alotted a branch and after that counseling starts and with every counseling u have a very good chance of upgrading your branch.

Faculty

3.5

Thapar has great faculty in terms of quantity and quality. They have experienced PhDs from iits and they take good responsibility os students. They tell students to ask doubts any time and they tell students from where to study. Not just they want us to learn, they want us to have great knowledge about the subject.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
