NIT Hamirpur -A Hub of Innovation and Advancement

The curriculum is recently being upgraded according to the new education policy. The courses are being modified continuously to meet industry standards as well as keep the level of academics intact. The curriculum is mostly similar to the other IITs and NITs of the country. The old curriculum lacked the modern approach and industry standardization which is being upgraded from the academic year 2023-24.The teaching methods are also being upgraded continuously. In a particular semester, there are two major examinations named - mid-semester exams and end-semester exams. The difficulty of the exams is good and a minimum level of preparation is required to pass the exams and clear the subject.

The placements usually begins as the student enters the final year of the college . The training and placement cell of the college helps a lot in getting the students placed .In recent year 2022 -23,a total of 690 students got placed with an average placement percentage of 80% and above . Comapanies visiting the college include accenture ,godrej ,maruti suzuki ,reliance , infosys , tech mahinadra and many more .The maximum package was 173 lacs per annum and average of 16 lacs per annum .After getting the degree , I would go for placements .

The tution fees has been increased recently by the insitute which may not be a good decision considering the economic condition of an average student .Usually after some years price hike takes place in fees .For Btech courses ,in each semester , considering a general unreserved student the fees is as follows : Tution fees- 62500 other charges-21100 at the time of admission ( only in 1st sem)-13000 If the student belongs to sc/st category or having parental income below 1 lac per annum ,the tution fees is not to be paid and rest of the fees remains same . Mess fees is approximately 25200 per semester which may change semester to semester . There are various scholarships provided by institute for the students ,i.e.,merit based and need based scholarships.Detailed information about these scholarships are given at the institute website .

The annual cultural festival is named as Hillfair which held around October every year .The annual technical festival is named is Nimbus which is held around March every year .The books are accessible to the students easily .Some of the e resources include pearson,s chand ,springer , wiley and many more.The institute provides fully technical classrooms which provide students exposure to digital education. The sports facilities in the campus are very good .Almost every sports facility is provided in the campus including basketball ,cricket ,football,tennis ,table tennis , snooker and many more .A annual sports meet is also help every year names LALKAAR in which students showcase their talents in various sports . The colleges has various technical and cultural clubs for the overall development of the student .some of the best clubs include Team PIXONOIDs,Team Finance , Discipline club and many more .

The admission to the college is based on JEE Mains exam so the eligibility remains same as the eligibility for JEE Mains examination .After qualifying for the exam, admission is done through JOSSA and CSAB counseling which is a long process .After the counselling is done , reporting is done at the institute and the college starts. Areas of improvement in the admission process can be simplifying the counselling process and providing enough guidance to choose the courses. The frequency of exams is two times per semester and difficulty is more than average .

The faculty at NIT Hamirpur is highly knowledgable and experienced in their respective fields .The professors have PhDs and higher degrees in their respective subjects .The faculty to student ratio is also good compared to other colleges which help the students interested in academics more .The approach to teaching is traditional lectures .The faculty is approachable to the students in the campus most of the time , they won't mind even going to their cabins for their doubts .In short , if you are into academics ,you will merely miss anything .
