Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I got Mechanical in spot round. I was getting electrical, but traditionally it is a lot tougher, so ended up with Mechanical. Even in such branches, modern technologies like AI, Ml, and robotics should be included. Decades old engineering drawing subjects were transitioned to CAD in our batch as well. Better time table scheduling is a must

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Our college had no compulsory summer intern, but has compulsory 6 month intern. Combining both, some of the top companies include rubriks, Google, Apple, JPMC, Expedia, JSP, and more. Most companies also offer PPOs to the students.

Placement Experience

4

Campus placement is offered. Minimum CTC is 5, this year in middle of placements max CTC is 52 lpa. Last year it was 1.25 cr 70-80% students got placed last year. This year till August 2024 for the batch of 2025, only 30 companies have come, hiring not more than 200 students out of 2500 approx. Notable companies visiting this year include Apple, Google, Bain, JPMC, Zomato, Cloudera, etc. After getting a degree I want to get SDE role in a top firm.

Fees and Financial Aid

Semester wise fees. 2 semesters per year, 210000 average per semester. Includes tuition, development, and health related charges. Top 10% students get scholarship anywhere from 25% to 100% on the fees. Hostel fees is additional, Rs. 50000 approx per semester for stay and about 25k for mess fees every semester. Additional financial aids and scholarships available to economically weaker sections. No financial benefits for people belonging to the reserves classes or Punjab Quota.

Campus Life

4.5

Annual fests are quite good. We have annual musical fest that is called Saturnalia, which included a concert from a popular singer and goes on for 3 days. In addition, we also have the annual food fest, where variety of cuisines are offered and popular regional and global brands can be seen. It is quite good. Many more events like society fair and internship fair are limited to the freshers only. I got admission during the pandemic, so I haven't experienced the fresher events, but as such students always praise about it.

Hostel Facilities

4

Excellent. Hostels are far better than most colleges. Most students get either 1 seater or 2 seater rooms. Very few 3/4 seater rooms. Being situated in heart of Punjab, the Punjabi food is quite good. It's no 5-star hotel, nor is it a typical dhaba with great food. It is a really reasonable and home like food offering.

Admission

I applied for LNM, Jaypee, Thapar, VIT, etc. VIT was too far and language barrier considering I am a hindi-speaking North Indian was a issue. LNM cutoffs were really high. Jaypee I had a chance but had heard that the environment is quite unreasonably strict.

Faculty

5

About 1:15 faculty to student ratio across the campus. Some of the best faculty members include Dr. Rajindra Roul sir, Dr. Anurag Tiwari, Dr. Rajnish Mallick. Some of the worst faculty members include Dr. AM Gadadde, for passing rasist comments and being biased towards certain demographics. Dr. Godara is an incredible teacher but can sometimes be intimidating and be a bit unfair on genuine students.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
