Course Curriculum Overview

4

This course has a very vast impact on the current scenario as well as on the upcoming future also. The current as well as the coming time needs to realise the importance of organic farming and this is the place where this course comes handy. This course teaches one how to do farming in the most effective and economic way possible. And what are the new technologies that can be used to make someone's job easy. This course will prepare you to work in the industry as well as to do research in the agriculture field as well. There are certain areas in which this course needs a little bit of improvement like taking the students to the site where calamities are happening so that they can understand the need of their subject well. The exams are taken on a well frequent timing ranging from every 2 to 2.5 months. And these exams are medium to hard in terms of difficulty. One has to prepare well in terms to score good marks and you can easily score good if you attend the classes regularly.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internships are a bit different here from other colleges. And typically it's not internships and rather training. So basically there is 3 trainings during 4 years of B. Tech. program, First after 4th semester(for 1 month), Second(1 month) and third(2.5 months) in 7th semester. In that training students can either go to different agricultural colleges or they can opt for training on companies but for that you have to approach to companies to allow you to take training with them. There are various projects assigned to students for their better understanding of the course. Like in SWCE, training of micro irrigation is given, similarly in FMPE, training of farm machineries are given and in PFE, training about food and food industries are given to students that benifit them in their future.

Placement Experience

3

The campus placements are decent as compared to other colleges. University has a proper placement cell which is dedicated to provide placement to students. Only fourth year students are eligible to undergo placement round and several companies come to hire them. The placement cell prepares the students as per the requirement of the company. Companies like TAFE, MAHINDRA AND MAHINDRA, PRADAN, JEEVIKA, MOTHER DAIRY, etc do come to the campus and almost 14 offers were made. The highest package was 8 LPA whereas the average package was 6 LPA. Approx 25% students got placed rest opted for higher studies. I also chose higher studies over placement as higher studies will benifit you in your future.

Fees and Financial Aid

It is a great college for agricultural engineering and food technology as well. Yearly fee is very less, somewhat around 17,000 a year(8.5k per semester for general). The hostel charges are minimal(20/month). If you are a Student from Bihar, you can get stipend from Bihar govt. Of 2000/month along with 6000 per year for books reimbursement. If you are an OBC candidate then your tuition fee will be exempted. If you are an SC or ST candidate then your semester fee will drop down like 5000/semester. Also, for bihar students there is a student credit card scheme through which you can take loan from Bihar govt. at a very minimal interest rate for about 2-3% per annum which is quite low. They also provide scholarships to the students who are from other states and that is 3000/month. It is a good college with lots of facilities and affordable at the same time. They have some nice extra curricular activities. Overall a decent college to consider for agricultural and allied sciences.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is amazing and full of happenings. You can roam around the campus anytime you want and the ambience and vibe of that place is pretty amazing. Since most of the land is being used for agriculture purpose so it is very quite and serene out there. There are lots of fest organised either on college level or on University level. The library is really big with typically most of the books available in it. It has the option of AC library too and the environment is quite good and the access to the books are pretty convenient. It has the facility of computers as well, so if someone wants to do some research online it can be easily done in the library. There is annual inter college sports meet and monthly inter semester sports meet too. The hostels has the facility of many sports like Badminton, Table Tenis, Volleyball, and many more. There is also a clubs for singing, dancing, art, and especially Entrepreneurship cell(E-cell) where students can develop entrepreneurship skills.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel rooms are very good. Its very spacious and has seperate cupboards for students to keep their stuffs. One room accomodates 3 students all having personal cupboard and a set of table and chair with personal drawers with locks. Rooms are very well lit and electricity supply is very good. Every block has its own power supply in case of power outage. Meal quality and menu are subjective things and I found it average but the mess is managed by the students only so things can be made good according to the students. Registration for hostel is as simple as it can be. Everyone gets hostel room and it is very simple. And also the hostel fee is almost negligible (20/month). The locality is very average. You can find rooms to rent but it is very hard to find and generally people don't give it to bachelors especially to couples so it's not that great and since everyone gets hostel facility so no one feels the need for PG or any kind of rented room.

Admission

Apart from this college, I applied for GB Pant University in Uttarakhand, Institute of Agricultural sciences, BHU, University of agricultural sciences, Bangalore. But didn't had enough marks to take admission in those colleges. I got seats in Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, College of Basic Science and Humanities, Pusa but rejected it because in BAU, agricultural engineering just started and I had no idea about it at that time and CBSH, Pusa was too costly for me and that course was Bio-Technology so i left that course too. The admission process of this college is simple, you have to appear in ICAR-UG examination, and after the score card is released, you have to go through counseling round in which you have to select this college from the list along with the courses you want to apply for. Once all that is done, merit lists will come and once you get your name in any of those list then you either have to reserve that seat by paying the fee or wait for upgradation.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty-to-student ratio is awesome. There is a huge amount of professors that can guide you in the overall college journey and they are really helpful all the time. They are very easy to approach and will be very happy to solve any of your doubts. Some of the best faculties are Dr. Manish Kumar, Dr. Devendra Kumar, Dr. Ram Suresh Verma, Dr. P. K. Pranav, Er. Indu Bhusan Bhagat, Er. Kranti Kumar, Er. Manoj Kumar, Er. Manoranjan Kumar, and lot more. Dr. P. D. Sharma, Dr. R. K. Sahu are one of the professors with whome you should not mess because they judge someone quickly. There are 3 exams total in a semester(including practical examination) but there might be surprise test any day so be prepared for that too, so all together there is a total of 24 examinations officially, and 4 mandatory seminars, 3 for your training report evaluation and 1 for your project report evaluation. You also have to submit a thesis report at the end of your 8th semester for the completion of your degree.
