Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is fine and relevant and since it is decided by the NEP, nothing really can't be done about it. Yea, it prepares very well for the future exams and career. i would suggest removing courses like Business studies in the CSE, but then again, it is there to make us aware regarding every field. The engineering graphics is just a hectice subject that needs to be removed.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

There are lot of internships options like for the Mechanical Engineers, volvo also recruits. You can do unpaid internships in other IITs and IISc. For CSE guys, others companies like CTRL recruits. And there is a placement cell which has a record of all these and help in the internships and placements.

Placement Experience

5

The placements in this college is very much good and the placement rate is above 90% overall with the highest off campus placement of Rs.1.73 cr per annum. The placements are in the final year only but you are eligible for the interships after completing the second year itself. A lot of companies, mainly like Google, microsoft and many other conglomerates recruit here. My plan after getting the degree is to research furthur in the AI & Ml field.

Fees and Financial Aid

For the first year, the fees is Rs. 38.600/- where the fees I paid to JOSAA is Rs.37,500/- and rest Rs.1100/- had to be submitted in the college. This covers the fee structure for SC/ST/PWD. And the first time hostel fee for every category is Rs.40,000/- For Gen/Gen-EWS/OBS/NCL, it is divided as follows: a) Annual income less than 1lac: Rs.38,600/- b) Annual income between Rs.1.00 to Rs.5 lac: Rs.59,433/- c) Annual income higher than Rs.5.00 lac: Rs1,01,100/- For the scholarships, there are a lot of scholarships like the ONGC scholarships and reliance scholarships which are introduced in the college.

Campus Life

4.5

There are a lot of fests in my college. The cultural fest is the Hillfair and the technical fest is Nimbus, both of which are held annually. The library is very vast almost featuring every book which is required during the course of engineering. The facilities are that they provide AC in the classroom, along with a smart board for the professors to teach. The sports clubs are also very nice including various games like football, badminton etc. and the ground is also available which also include lawn tennis court etc. There are various clubs and socities. The socities include Team SPEC which conducts electrothon yearly which is a hackathon. It is MLH (Major League Hackathon) certified. There are other societies like ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education), CSEC (Computer Science Engineer's Club), GDSC and various others. There are other govt funded organisations like NCC and NSS. There are other non tech clubs like dance club, public relatios, music club etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facility is very good. The facilities are vey good like you are provided with a bed, table and a chair along with an almirah. Other things like curtains have to be bought from shop. The meal quality is also very good with variety of things served. The only drawback is the water shortage which is quite manageable.

Admission

I chose this college over others mainly due to location. And then I had other cousins too who studied here, and got placed very well. The admission process of NIT Hamirpur is only through the JEE mains exam and the cutoff varies for the different branches. The admission experience was very good. I especially liked the part where you have to fill the anti ragging certificate, and you are secured from ragging. This has eliminated the ragging. Also the seniors are very helpful in this college.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty to student ratio is quite good and is around 1:30. And the faculties are really very helpful. You can either approach them in their respective departments, or if they allow, through whatsapp or maybe some even use google classrooms. I personally liked Dr. Raj and Dr. Upasan who teach us Engineering Chemistry and Basic Eelectrical Engineering resp. Their teaching way is very interactive and they usually ask students their doubts are very friendly and helpful. There is no such faculty that I don't like because in the end it's you who has to work hard to get the desired grades. Exams aren't there yet. I have to give my first mid sem and since I consulted my seniors, they said that it's not that hard if you just write down the professor's notes and revise them before the exam.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities at my college are average. A few reputed companies visit the campus each year, but the number of offers and salary packages varies depending on the branch and market conditions. Students who have strong academic performance, technical skills, internships, and good communication skills generally have better chances of getting placed.
