Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum of BITS is BE, that it is very flexible and covers a vast variety of topics. Although it is theoretical, it covers a lage amount of hands on industrial concepts as well and the curriculum includes 2-3 compulsory internships for students to get hands on experience in the real world. My only con would be to improve the amount of practical things taught. I liked the course structure and idea of flexibility. The exams are frequent to keep you on your toes.

Placement Experience

4.5

Campus placements start from the beginning of 4th year, or 5th year if you are pursuing a dual degree. About 85% of the students get placed the highest package goest to about 60 lpa and the average is about 20-25 lpa. I have no plans for after college, I am going with the flow. Almost all tech, fintech and core companies active in India come for recruitment.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tution fees yearly come to around 6 lpa. Hostel is relatively cheap for a city; they only charge around 1.1 lpa per annum. We are expected to a registration fee in first year, about 50000. Apart from that, we have medical insurance, mess fees, maintenance fees and a prepaid amount called an swd amount which is paid in advance, all amounting to 60k per annum. A scholarship is provided to the top 3% academic scorers along with a merit cum need scholarship for people with low income, which is a very generous amount and is also based on your GPA. All fees across branches are same.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus Life is amazing. We have almost every facility available to us and multiple food outlets running about 20 hours a day. Our library has around 50000 books having almost every topic and new books are added every fortnight. We have multiple sports teams and have all sports equipment and areas dedicated for them. There also about 80 - 100 clubs on campus, and almost every student is a part of one.

Hostel Facilities

4

We get a two sharing room in the first year, then we can opt for a single/ double room and second year, and then we get single rooms from 3rd year onwards. The hostels are very affordable and all the registration is online and hassle free. The mess food is very good, considering the quality of mess food in general.

Admission

I didn't get many other colleges, I was getting colleges like VIT, manipal and almost all colleges via KCET and COMEDK. I didn't crack advanced and felt that for a guy who didn't want to pursue a career in IT, BITS was the best place for me. Cutoffs for this course college rise each year and is pretty high, in between mains and advanced. Almost all admissions happen via BITSAT or SAT.

Faculty

4

Faculty is amazing. They are very approachable and the faculty to student ratio is around 40:1, which is amazing. They are absolutele experts in their field and know how to teach, barring a few. The exams are generally very tough owing to the high competition of the college, which increases the average as well. The best faculties are generally of the core branches.

Placement Experience:

From 4th sem itself students are eligible for placements. Although students get access to paid internships from their 1st year itself, just they need some effort. But as NIAT is yet new and no batch has passed out yet so we still don't have the exact placement percentage rate. But as we are getting paid internships from 1st year itself so it's very evident that placement would also be good

Placement Experience:

No batch has graduated yet so there's no record of placement data yet. But more than 200 students got internships. Also the unique point of NIAT is students gets internships from their 1st year itself. NIAT has connection in the industry also its unique teaching style, this allows 1st year students to get internships. Although there is no pass out batch yet, still many people got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My college course curriculum is outdated .As im studying in computer science and engineering,i wpuld love to study about technological aspects and grow as a software engineering but in the course curriculam they teach my about mechanical workshops,There were no practical experience it jsut understanding the concept with theoritical part . i would love lo code but my college wastes entire time by helping with electricals, meachanical basics. i dont think is it really necessary for me understand in all the feilds they think that student should perform in all the fields as im in computer science and engineering student ,They should teach me more about coding and computer ,how it industries works and how these technology enhacning ,the arenot even explore about all these sectos they only teaching me about fundametals of all the subjects which is never useful for my studies . as i am in final year of btech i thought learning and deepdiving into computerscience and engineering subjects is more greater than learning all sector fundamentals,The area they need to improve is removing some of the oudated syllabus from their ciricullum and enhcing with the pratical experience not to teach only theoritical part. they have to teach all the areas with realtime examples. The timings of exams is very good .we do have 2 mid exams and one semester final exams for each sem and the subjects feels meduim level difficulty

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements after their 6th semester. The companies start visiting in 7th and 8th semesters. The companies are not much good and are mostly service based. So the placement statistics are also not much good. The highest placement last year was 10 lpa and the median placement was around 4.1 lpa. The placements were starting from 2.5 lpa. The better option for students is to apply for off-campus placements or start preparing for competitive exams
