Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

So the course curriculum in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness is good. The courses in my branch are sufficient to train for real life applications. Some of the course i can list is databaze mangement system, OOPS, dsa, cyber security etc. So the overall curriculum prepare us for real life application and further academic pursuits. There are some area that need to be improved like dsa in our college is being taught using C language which should be taught using C++ language or java. The mid term start generally 2 months the semester starts and after 2 months we have end sems exams. So frequency of exams is not that much concerning.

Internships Opportunities

4

There are many comoanies which hire students for internships. Some of the companies are JP morgan, black rock, apple etc. The intership is for all sem students. Highest stipend goes upto about 1.5 lacs and minimum upto 25,000. Also there is a project based semester i which a student has to make a project or do some research in any institute. So this project based semester is very helpful for experience.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placement percentage of the campus is good enough as compared to other private colleges. For internships all semester students are eligible and for placements it is for sem 7 and sem 8. There are many big companies such as google, black rock, apple and many more mnc's which come and give placement to students. Also it is possible that a student can get PPO during his/her internship. The highest package offered from campus in 2024 was 1.23 cr which was given by rubrik to 2 students. Also the avg. package is 12 lpa and the percentage of placement i am not sure but it may be 70%. After graduation i am thinking of getting placed from the campus only.

Fees and Financial Aid

So my fees for the first sem was 2,61,600 and second sem was 2,38,600. For thes second my fees is 2,60,600 in which the development fees Rs.57,000 , tution fees 1,92,100 , medical fees Rs. 500 and examination fees was Rs. 3000 and student activity and welfare charges are Rs. 7500. There are some financial aid for students such as merit cum means and also scholarship is given on basis of CGPA. There is no relaxation for students categorywise so everyone has to pay same. But for NRI qouta the fee is somewhat high than indian students.

Campus Life

3.5

Overall experience of the campus is very good. The infrastructure is good and spacious. The classes are ver well furnished. There are many events like saturnalia which is held in November. In sturnalia there are many tech and non tech competition. Virsa is also an event which is based on punjabi culture. There are sports based events like ace which held in September between different year in differenr sports. Also URJA is a sports based event which held between different universities. Also here we can play aports like cricket, lawn tennis, basketball, volleyball, badminton, swimming etc. So sports faculity is also good. Here are many societies like FROSH which handles all the bigh events like saturnalia, ipen day etc. Also there is a ngo based societies like rotaract etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facility in the campus is good. There are 9 hostel for boys and 6 hostel for girls. Also every room in the hostel is well furnished and has air conditioning. My hostel fee for one semester is Rs. 53,500 and mess fee if 24,000 . The mess food is good and hygenic. Also there is a night canteen in every hostel. So for hostel allocation a preferrence orden is filled by a student in google form made by thapar and hostel is allocated on the basis of CGPA. The affordability is less than or equal to PG outside the college, so college is a better option. Also if we live in PG then it may or may not have a good locality so hostel is the best option for college.

Admission

I chose this college over other colleges because it is in my home state and also i was not able to qualify jee advanced for my dream IIT. Also it is the best college i have heard from my friends and teachers in punjab. I also applied for SRMIST, VIT, MANIPAL and Symbiosis and i was getting Computer in all colleges except VIT, but i preferred Thapar after talking with my parents and the reviews. So i didn't got a rejection from colleges. The admission process is not so difficult. We have to fill a form online after which we get provisional admission letter and get to know which branch we have been alloted. If we wish to take admission we have to fill the admission fee with tuition fees after the provisional admission letter after which our admission is confirmed.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty here is ovarall good. The faculty to student ratio is very good. Also the faculty is always there to help. Also there are tutorial classes after the lectures which help to clear oir doubts and for practicing the conceprs tought. The faculty i liked the most is Dr. Harish Garg. He teaches maths and has a channel on youtube which is helpful for exams. There is no such faculty i disliked. Exam system is also good. There are two quiz of 15 marks , one before mid-term exams and one after mid - term exams. The mid term exams are of 35 marks and the end sem exams are also of 35. The difficulty of the exams is medium as the exam comes on the concept taught in lecture. So overall exam level is medium and concept based. Also the course curriculum is good.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
