Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Thapar university is really popular for its placements so thats why i chose this university. Also the course im stidying eec has both electrical and computer, so i will be taught both software and hardware components. The labs and workshops really help you to face the real problems that may come in your engineering work. I think that the practical work could be more than lectures or maybe some experiments should be done while giving the lecture. The exams timings and level is fine.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

I am in first year so i really dont know much about interships with stupends at thapar institute of engineering and technology patiala, but our seniors say that their internships are really good. They are in places like noida, gurgaon, bangalore, etc.

Placement Experience

3.5

Students become eligible for internships in 3rd year and for placements in 4th year. All bug companies like apple , Google, Microsoft, Amazon, zomato, etc come here. Highest package last year was ?1.2 cr and lowest ?6lpa. 96 percent students get placed. I plan on taking a job after my degree .

Fees and Financial Aid

Im in first year Btech EEC so my tuition fee for one semester is ?3 lakh. I also took a hostel single room which costed ? 49k for the semester plus mess fee ?24800. Laundry is included in all this. The students who have other branches like copc etc have their tuition fee more as compared to me

Campus Life

4.5

Saturnalia is a very big fest in thapar institute of engineer and technology patiala. Ccs is also a very big society here. Many hackathons happen here . Like a lot. Something or the other is always going on . Thapar institute of eng and tech patiala has a really big sports centre. They have almost everything.

Hostel Facilities

4

I have a single room. The washrooms are really clean and the maids clean your room every day whenevr you want them to between 8 am to 6 pm. The food and menu is also good. Our food comes from sodexo , which is really tasty. It is almost like ghar ka khaana. The price of the hostel is also fair, ?49k for room and ?24800 for mess.

Admission

I also got a seat in cse in srm ktr which is the main campus. I went there to see the campus but being a north indian it was clear that it is going to be very difficult to adjust . The culture , food, language, people everything is different there and iy was very far from home . I got admission in thapar through jee exam.

Faculty

3.5

A single class has 200 to 250 students which has a teacher. Along with them 2 phd students come to take attendance. It is sometimes difficult to ask a doubt in a class this bug but that is compensated in tutorial sessions where only your immediate classmates are present whose strength is upto 25-30. I really liked dr.harish garg for maths because he teaches with interest and clarity. I also like ms navdeep dhillon for professional communication. My autocad teacher mr khalid is very nice and humble, his teaching style is really polite. I havent really encountered a teacher that i dont like because it is still my first semester. There are sessionals which happen before msts(mid semester tests) and im the end of the sem ests are conducted. You have to have 75 percent attendance to be able to sit for ests( end semester tests). The questions are usually related to pyqs and ppts .

Other Applied Colleges

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
