Department of Commerce - Ravenshaw College (an insight)

College is good but their must be an examination conducted for techer for there upgradation of knowledge. Campus is the best thing about our college. Placement and internship must be provided and to be more transparent.

I am pursuing Master's in Commerce, it's 2 year course. 2 years is divided into 4 semester (i.e. 2 semister per year) Course requires to be upgraded with the upgradation of teachers, to be adequate with the present scenario, subject of MBA and M.Comm are similar but in M.Comm there is a lack of practical exposure.

Pacements and job packages for the commerce student is very very weak. Placement is mostly comprises of job related to sales and services. There's no opportunity for finance or accounting related placement. University promote internship but department doesn't promote it.

In the name of event there's only hostel fest , which the *individual* hostel conduct inside the premise of the university campus, there are some new events celebrated i.e. food fest, ravenshaw fest, inter department debates. There's lack of fun w.r.t. private B.College's

There are 2 type of fee structure one is on the basis of merit and other one *named* as self financing. Merit student get the option of availing fee course i.e. approximately 5000 per annum approximately and self financing student in 2017- 27000 per annum approximately and in 2018- 42000 approximately. Above figures where given inclusive of Semina fees and othe expenses to be full filled at the time of admission.

The scholarship where provided by the state govt., Loan facility is not provided in our department. I didn't get any of the scholarship as the marks secured by me i Undergraduate wher low. Loan's were usually provided in different departments but not in the department of commerce.

There are various aporting events conducted by the university to make each of the department sportive. Mostly there is a cricket match most of the organised by students unofficially. There's a lack of sport/ practical exposure and even the official picnic. Most of the sporting event i.e. organised by the students unofficially.

Recently department of commerce conducted 3rd alumini meet, thhere are no. Professional alumni were there, most of them where having their own business. They might be helpful in sponsoring the event. They might be helpful but the help didn't took on the personal level

Professional teacher should be hired, most of the faculty doesn't posses specialisation of the subject which they are teaching, they are just giving a basic knowledge about their respective subject. College use to hier this faculty through their certificate, and most of the teacher's aren't upgrading thier knowledge with the change in the present scenario.
