Remarks

One positive about the University is its location. The University is present in the heart of the city and thus is easily accessible through bus, trains and other vehicles also. One negative is that if a student can find a study group here easily then finding a bad group does not take much work.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

In the freshers year students of all the trades study the same courses. It is second year afterwards that the course are divided according to the branches. The subject evaluations are divided into many subparts : MST,EST and quizzes based on which student's academic performance is evaluated

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements in the college are good. The average salary package offered is about 7 lacs per annum as of last year. The highest salary package offered goes up to 35 lacs per annum. Various companies like Microsoft, Zomato, IBM, Whirlpool, Infosys, etc., visit the campus for placements. The college holds a good record in placements, and the rest depends on the students.

College Events

3.5

Several fests are organised in a year, some are society fests and some are the college fests like Saturnalia. The crowd and campus atmosphere are competitive but good. The campus lies almost in the middle of the main city, so it has good connectivity as transportation facilities are easily available. A lot of workshops are held by several societies on weekends to keep you engaged and acquire additional skills

Fee Structure And Facilities

Current fee structure for the batch of 2021 is around 16 lakhs. It starts with ?1.5 lakhs per semester and increases by 15% every year. No other hike is observed. Fee structure although seeming to be expensive is decently feasible because being a private university Thapar has to invest in many areas without any prolific external funding. Also almost all top class private colleges in country like BITS charge the same.

Fees and Financial Aid

Many scholarships are available at campus. The primary scholarships are applied when a student gets admission into the University based on his class 12 marks+ JEE mains marks and has to maintain a certain cgpa to continue availing that. Other than that many scholarships are also provided based on academic performance and projects based scholarships are also available.

Campus Life

3.5

The infrastructure of Thapar University could be regarded as the best infrastructure a college could have. Hostels have high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity; rather the whole campus has a high-speed Wi-Fi connection. The library is the best in its kind, and a new library is also under the process. Classrooms are highly technical and are fully air-conditioned. Facilities for all the sports are available. There is a separate ground provided for different games, and a dispensary is also available for any health problems.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels have adequate facilities with gymnasium, reading rooms, inside mess, tuck shops, etc. In each hostel. Newly built hostels are equipped with modern technology. Food facilities are also good in most of the hostels.

Alumni/Alumna

The atmosphere at the campus is very healthy and competitive. Seniors here are very responsive and helpful. Many societies are present at Thapar which enable students to interact with seniors easily. Also the previously graduated seniors from the University are easily approachable. Every now and then students of passed out batches keep making frequent visits and sharing their own experiences.

Faculty

4

The faculty members at Thapar University are fairly good. They are highly educated and highly experienced. They have a good hand in their subjects. They are good at interacting with students. All doubts are cleared on the spot, and they also help in every problem. Tutorial teachers however are not very experienced as students doing their PhDs in University itself are employed as tut teachers.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
