What Students Say
Likes
- Since its a correspondence college, it gives you flexibility to opt for something else along with your core degree.
- I am pursuing CA along with my degree. I just have to appear only for semi- annually exams , no classes, nothing , although if you want you can attend their weekend classes if you want
- Since the fees is very minimal, which is the case with all the DU colleges, it doesn't hurt to earn a side degree from SOL and upskill yourself instead of following the mandates of 75% attendance criteria.
Dislikes
- College adminsitration is literally the worst. they aren't going to help you in anything. Be it subjects selection, improvement exams, any doubts. they won't even pickyour calls on their toll free number
- There is no value of the degree of correspondence college until unless you couple it up with something else and upskill yourself.
- Their rampant checking and marking students absent in exams even if they are present is a serious administration flaw. Although doesn't happen with everyone but happened with some of my friends.
Course Curriculum Overview
The cousre curriculum and the subjects taught are exactly same as what are taught in any regular DU college. Same books, same teachers, same subjects. So its the question on entire education system's objectivity whether we are updating our course curriculum across the nation or not.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees is not much different than any regular DU college even though its correspondence college, it should have less fees. its as par with any DU college. I paid around 7000 each year, although the fees gets increasing each year. i am a student of B. Comm. Hons here Although there are several scholarships granted to economically weak students which can help you waive off your entire fees. I myself, didnt avail any such benefit.
Campus Life
NO SOCIAL LIFE! And thats pretty much expected from a correspondence college. We have to do everything on our own. Although students generally make whatsapp groups and communities to share resources and all, which are really helpful.
Admission
Since, I was pursuing CA, hence i needed a corrsepondence college for my studies as we cant pursue any full time regular degree along with CA. Hence, it made a lit of sense to me to go for it. Anyways, there are hardly any placement in any B.Comm college except SRCC and few others. So, I just wanted a second degree.
Faculty
I personally dont attend any classes since i rely on my CA studies and Youtube for B. Comm. preparation, but the faculty is decent is what i have heard. Since, they are recruited by Delhi University, hence its similar process in all the colleges. No complaints as such. If you are interested in studying, they would be interested in teaching as well.
Night Life
The college office is DU North Campus. So if you visit SOl office, you can enjoy and experience other North campus colleges, their fests, events as well. But since, its an open degree, your home is your campus.
