Course Curriculum Overview

3

I wanted to do something in the science field so I choosed this bsc degree. The curriculum has a little to do but us a lot to do ourselves as the course is still centralised to jobs like teaching and other government jobs but not to corporate related jobs or tech related

Fees and Financial Aid

Gauhati University offers a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, each with specific fee structures and available scholarships. Here's a detailed overview: Fee Structure Undergraduate (Integrated Courses) Annual Fees: 29,000–32,000 (14,500–16,000 per semester). Includes tuition fees, admission fees, development charges, and other mandatory costs. Postgraduate (e.g., MA, MSc, MTech) Annual Fees: Approx. 7,000–8,000 for two semesters, with an additional 2,000 per semester as an examination fee. Hostel fees: 15,000 annually + 3,000 caution money (one-time refundable) and 3,000 monthly mess charges. Doctoral Programs Fees: 16,500–16,800 annually depending on the specialization. Scholarships and Financial Aid 1. Ishan Uday Scholarship: For students from the North Eastern Region. Offers up to 80,000 annually for eligible candidates with merit and financial need. 2. Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships: Provided by the government for low-income families with outstanding academic records. 3. Other State and Central Government Schemes: Include financial aid for SC, ST, and OBC students. Batch-wise and Category-wise Fees General category students typically pay the amounts mentioned above. Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) may receive fee waivers or reductions depending on the specific program and state policies. Fee Trends The fee structure at Gauhati University has remained relatively stable in recent years, with no significant increase reported for most programs. However, hostel and mess charges might vary slightly each year.

Campus Life

4

Many fest like youth festival that is in November, varsity week in February etc are held here. The campus is big and it's peaceful and fun to attend these fests here. The library has good amount of books and they're easily accessible

Admission

Applied for many but choose this as this is in my hometown and I would not have to move to other city. This university is considered good and I love being here so choosed it instead. I didn't got rejected from few just I didn't met their selection criteria

Faculty

3

Ratio:1:20 Good approachability is there and quality faculty members are there Course structure includes CBSC: credit based curriculum and comprehensive curriculum Examination system is moderately difficult but it has transparent grading system

Night Life

4

It's good to spend time in night at the campus. My favourite are the gym, library and market. There are few restaurants too where we can hang out with friends and family. The famous of them might be the faculty canteen and GU market

The course prepares well for students as the acedemic results is always good which will make gratutides well equipped for jobs. Some sections of the course should be updated to meet the latest technology, more guests lectures and the interships should be provided to the students. The exams clustering of multiple exams should be within times which relases unneccsary stress, the exams are conducted easy to insane which is very challenging for the students.
