Remarks
As we had a great time in the university, the remarks about the same are bound to be positive. However on the downside the thing that bothered us most was lack of connecitivity with the main town. We had to return to our hostel in the campus by 8 pm.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum was good, so was the exam structure. We would be evaluated every week. We used to write a summary of the things learnt that day and then prepare for the upcoming classes the next day.
Placement Experience
Job opportunities were great given that we had campus recruitment. Internship or on the job training is a must in the last semester. Stipend awarded was decent but not a huge salary/pocket money as such.
College Events
We would celebrate all the three national festivals. In addition, we would celebrate festivals such as Holi, Ugadi, Ram Navami, Rakshabandhan, Navaratri, Deepavali, Christmas to name a (handful) few.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Being a central university, fee structure was very inexpensive as it was subsided. Though I don't remember exactly number for the annual fee, it was around 600/- rupees annually or just 50/- a month.
Fees and Financial Aid
There wasn't a need to take an education loan as the scholarship anount itself would suffice to meet the tution expenses, the mess expenses, laboratory and book expenses and recreation expenses. One could even save!
Campus Life
Extracurricular activities were available in plenty. We had the facility for basketball, cricket, football and so on. Indoor sports such as chess, carrom, table tennis, to name a few too were encouraged.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is indeed a part of being together. One not only benefits professionally but also socially. We meet even this day annually at least once and it is with the family and friends. JNU day falls in the first week of December.
Admission
Applied in February of 1986, got the admit card a few weeks later, then wrote the entrance exam, got into the university. Was pretty simple. That's all about the admission process. Anything else will be a lie.
Faculty
Faculty and staff was excellent. We were just imbibing the knowledge; and to assess if what we understood was right, we used to have group interactions with the campus. Such was the degree of our preparedness.
