Course Curriculum Overview

3

1. I chose AIML course, as I thought it would be relevant in this AI-trend era. 2. After coming to second year, I realised that we had only one subject different from CSE/ISE(they had Java, we have Python) 3. Curriculum is outdated, and it's better to do courses/YouTube to upgrade skills for the real-world job market. 4. Exams are a bit on the tougher side, but doable nonetheless. 5. I suggest that the syllabus be revised once in 2-3 years.

Internships Opportunities

4

1. Many companies come to our college to offer internship or campus placements. 2. Every year we get 150-160 companies visiting us, and if your skills are good, you can get placed fairly easily. 3. Almost all the companies offer internships for 20-30k INR stipends.

Placement Experience

5

1. We become eligible for placements from 6th semester. 2. We have campus placements, which are managed by our own Training and Placement Office (TPO UVCE) 3. 97+% of the people in CSE and ECE are getting placed. 4. Highest package was 58 LPA in 2021. 5. Average package is around 6-7 LPA. 6. Many companies (150-160) visit us every year, the notable ones being Texas instruments, ThoughtWorks, Deloitte, Applied Materials etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

1. The yearly fees of our college that I pay (as a 2023 batch student of GM category) is 45750 INR(for the first year admission), and 43500 INR yearly for the next three years. 2. This year the fee has been hiked by 2000 INR. 3. The above fee structure is for all the categories EXCEPT SC/ST, who have to pay only 750 INR per year. 4. There are no management seats, your admission MUST be done through either KCET exam or JEE Mains rank. 5. It's a government college, hence the low fees and the absence of any miscellaneous fees. However, the exam fees of 1.5k INR per semester has to be paid before the sem-end exams of every sem. 6. You can avail scholarships from the government or any other NGO scholarships, our college office will give you the necessary attestation and documents.

Campus Life

3

1. We have majorly 2 fests per year. One big cultural fest (Milagro), and another ethnic themed fest (Vaibhava). 2. Fests are enjoyable, but not as flashy or high-budget as other private colleges (understandable as this is a government college) 3. We have clubs for music, dance, fashion, pop culture, IEEE, Google™-sponsored GDG club, Tedx and 180DC clubs and more. 4. These clubs are all student-driven, which gets the students more exposure, and gives management skills. 5. Sports takes a back seat in our college, unfortunately, due to the lack of a playground. 6. Our library is good and big, and has a good collection of books and journals.

Admission

In KCET counseling, I'd gotten Computer science and Business systems course in Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE) in the first two rounds based on my rank (it was 5918) I got UVCE in the third and final round. Our college accepts admissions ONLY from KCET and JEE Mains (and DCET for Diploma lateral entry), and you have to secure admission by participating in the counseling process. There's no PI/GD rounds, and if you get a confirmed seat, you can directly go with the documents and get admission. Admission process itself, is a bit more straightforward than some other colleges in my opinion.

Faculty

3

1. Faculty to student ratio is actually a bit bad. I haven't calculated exactly, but it's roughly 80-100 to 1. 2. Just as in every other college, there are some good faculties and some bad. But generally they're approachable and will entertain your doubts. 3. Some of the better faculties are Thriveni madam, Manjula madam and Kiran Sir. They're the more experienced ones, and they teach well. 4. Exam structure: i) for labs: one lab internal, and one lab external(final exam) ii) for other subjects: 2 internals, and one external(final exam) Exams are a bit on the tougher side, as the previous year questions don't usually repeat, but they're not as hard as say, IIT/NIT level. 5. Course curriculum is a bit outdated (last updated on 2020). So it's left to you to upgrade your skills

Night Life

4

1. Our college is located in the centre of Bengaluru, with its own dedicated metro station too. 2. As the surrounding areas are filled with Government offices and workspaces, we have to go a bit further to Chickpete/Gandhinagar for basic shopping. 3. Due to metro connectivity, we can go to almost every famous hangout spots like Indiranagar, Jayanagar etc. 4. Also, Cubbon park is a 2 minute walk from our college, and is a very good hangout spot amidst that greenery. (It also has a library and skating rink) 5. There's no dedicated in-time to our college hostel.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is a mix of both Computer Science and AIML which is increasingly relevant in today's world. Second year: Subjects like Mathematics for AIML, Data Structures, Stats for Data Science, Computer Networks, Third year: DBMS, ANN, ML operations Some other elevtives are also available and courses like Universal Human Values, POME, EIPR etc. Honestly, POME, EIPR, UHV should have less course credits and probably MCQ type exams (like IC and Yoga in first year). Curriculum is good and updating for applications helped along with projects. Exams are generally once in a month, 1.5 - 2 units for each subject each exam. Lab exams at the very end before CIE marks finalization. Then 2 weeks gap for Lab SEE, then 1 week gap and actual SEE's.

Placement Experience:

KSIT has an average placement rate of 70%-85% depending on the branch . CSE,ISE and ECE branches have higher placements while mechanical and civil have fewer opportunities in IT sector . Average package is about 4-6LPA . KSIT attracts many IT based recruitiers with some core companies for non -IT branches . It also provides pre-placement training, coding boot cams, aptitude tests and soft skills development . Alumni network is moderate, but students need off-campus efforts for high paying jobs
