Course Curriculum Overview

2

The curriculum is quite out of the box here ironically as the practical knowledge is zero here of any language even till 3rd year to students, Yes there are great TPP teachers who teaches there languages very well but still in classes we get to know nothing interesting or much knowledgable there are very quite teachers who helps us to like improve our practical knowledge otherwise its all on you, if you learn from youtube or any other course then it's fine for you but you can't be dependent on college faculty for any kind of practical knowledge much. there must be more focused on practical nowledge of students rather than theoritical because at the end its only practical knowledge which counts in outer world to be successful. The semester here is 3 months long in which there are 2 mid sem tests one at the mid of the sem and another at the end of the sem then there's preparation break & then finals, that's all & the semester is over!!

Internships Opportunities

1

Internship opportunities yes we have an RISE dept in our college which do provide internships to cse students who are good in their fields , rest few companies also offer internship to our college student but still it all depends on their caliber if they can take it or not.

Placement Experience

1

The PLACEMENTS! they are a myth here, actually not a myth CGC do provide placements but only to those students who do Ace in their AMCAT scores, for the rests yes placements at cgc is a myth. This year we got only 60 students placed out of 350 btech cse students. Companies do visit our college but the main thing is that our placement drives are done wih CU where obvioysly if a company come & there they have to interview a Cgcian & a CU stdent they'll obviously opt the CU one because, its clearly much better than us in all the possible ways so, thats why for us cgcians its tough to get placements a lot. So, reviewing all this one better opt for a masters from a prestigious college atleast more than CGC & there are much more options out there so, why settle for less guys!! go ahead search the internet you can do a lot better than being in cgc.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am a student at cgc landran, currently pursuing Btech CSE, i'm currently in my 6th sem & the fee i pay per semester is 47,500 tution fee & per semester we have to pay 1500 as examination fee so, per semester i pay 49000, which counts 98000. but this is just for 2022 batch for the recent 2024 batch it has been increased to approx 1lac4thousand per year & adding examination fee it counts as 1 lac 7 thousand per year. Yes our college provides scholarship opportunities to the students who suffer financially.

Campus Life

4

CGC have gifted me with beautiful moments with my friends & on the other hand worst ones with my faculty. but still for me the beautiful oness matters most, it doesn't mean that college life out os class is good but the reality is that i don't think college play any role in achieving good friends it clearly depends on you. the events here are like 1 main event which id called "PARIVARTAN" which is a 2 day fest & yes its really a nice fest to enjoy with your friends. Rest all small events takes place time by time like every year to welcome new students we have "AAGAZ" then we have "Annual sports meet" many more small fest in between but, the fact is you only get to enjoy these in your first year coz after that there's no event for you to enjoy other than parivartan. Yes clubs, so there are many clubs & the club leaders are all too good they help you grow if you really want to & yes the main thing is "DSW" yes department of student wellfare so that dept is the most powerful dept in our college every student dreams of to be a part of that dept because it makes you free of all the strict rules.

Admission

The admission process is too easy here you can either apply online or offline as per your comfortability. The online process is too easy just upload your all details & documents then just pay the 11000 token amount and you are welcome at CGC landran. Here the eligibility criteria is a myth if you have paid the token fee, it only matters in offline admission. Once you get online admission here the result is just a piece of paper for them. Meanwhile, i also applied for CU & Chitkara & also attempted JEE for once where i was enough able to get a semi govt college but, due to personal reasons i had to choose a college here in chandigarh so amongst CGC, CU & Chitkara, i opted CGC because, honestly CGC is too good at advertising itself & i got in the trap of those perfect college life advertisements which i really do regret now....

Faculty

1

The faculty at cgc is the worst one, i've ever seen but still some faculty members are too good to be in their guidance. The thing which made me against our college faculty was their emotional unavailability & there's zero sense of understanding in some of our faculty members, a year back i had to go through an emotionally too muchtough challenge which was that i lost one of my parents & i got into social anxiety & depression a lot back then but i had a few nice teachers in that semester who helped me out in all possible ways but then next semester came & i was still suffering with the same issues social anxiety was enough that i was in my suicidal stage & my teachers at that time considered it just a lie so, things got more tough for me as the there words made me enough ashamed of myself that i decided to drop the course for once but, i survived & there are many stories like this....trust me i consider it to be the worst decision of my life to be here. Moving to exams there are 3 exams held every semester from which 2 are mid sem tests and then comes the final one. Mid sems are tough a bit but not that much if focused in class & final years are easy to crack with the help of PYQ's only.

Night Life

3

Nightlife in CGC is for boys only as girls have no outing after 6:30 & after 7:30 they cannot even step out of hostel. whereas boys have there outing timings all sorted & they can roam around campus till 10pm . The cafeterias in our college are good indeed few are my favorites like singh rolls & zayka & many more plus there are many good food places outside the college too. here is just one nearby hangout place which is chhapar chhiri & rests are approx 1 hour away from college but the area is all quite safe i personally consider chandigarh the safest city i've ever seen in all manners.....

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
