Remarks

Overall its a thumbs up for college KJSCE. Its has best infrastructure, good facilities, well equipped laboratories and industry relevant curriculum. Placements are not 100% but college is striving hard to achieve it.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course Curriculum is updated every year to accommodate upcoming trends. Since KJSCE has private autonomy status, it can design its own curriculum as per industry requirement. Also, the best part is feedback from all students is taken every semester and course is updated based on feedback.

Internships Opportunities

College does provide internship but there are less positions available against number of students. But faculties are trying their best to get new projects. If can get internships through your personal contact, college will easily provide approval letter. I got internship with a manufacturing company in Mumbai. It was a great learning experience. Had experience on shop floor working on CNC machines and part making.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements are good for computers and IT branch. Mechanical branch suffers the most in placements to get placed in core branch. My year 54/135 got core job offers and rest either opted for masters or secured IT job offer.Few were unplaced. But things are improving with time.

College Events

4.5

Cultural fest Symphony- Symphony is the annual cultural festival of K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering and has grown in leaps and bounds ever since its initiation as Jamboree in 1987. It conducts various competitions in diverse fields such as art, dance, drama, music, etc. It has been a host to various celebrities and well-known artists such as Biswa Kalyan Rath, The Raghu Dixit Project, Amit Trivedi, Ustad Zakir Khan, The Local Train, Kenny Sebastian, etc. who have performed their sets in the PRO shows during Symphony. Technical fest Abhiyantriki is the annual technical festival of K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering. Previously, organizations like DRDO, BARC, ISRO, DAE have participated in the fest along with prominent personalities such as the late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, R Chidambaram, Abhas Mitra etc. It is a culmination of the brightest young minds coming in to compete in the various technical activities that take place during the two day long celebration.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees is a bit expensive 1.5 lakhs a year. But many scholarship options are available like sir JRD tata scolarship, Ratan tata scholarship. State government minority scholarship and merit based scholarships are also taken by students.

Fees and Financial Aid

JRD tata scolarship, Ratan tata scholarship are available for meritorious students. State government minority scholarship also taken by students. Educational Loan is also easily available in any of the banks at nominal interest rate.

Campus Life

5

Somaiya campus which is spread across 60 acres has all facilities like gymkhana, football, cricket grounds, lawn tennis, badminton court, chess area. Swimming pool coming soon. So its great learning experience with awesome infrastucture. Sports committee organizes annual events for sports. Also there are many other student projects like Orion, ETA, BAJA, onyx taken by students in college. Orion Team India builds sports cars and participates every year in competition held in Germany. Currently it is best race car team in India beating even IITs.

Hostel Facilities

4

Infrastructure and facilities wise Somaiya is the best college in Mumbai. Well equipped labs, gymkhana, football, cricket grounds, lawn tennis, badminton court and many more facilities are available in college.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni of Somaiya are very well connected with college. Many past students have set up their engineering firms are come to recruit or provide internships to students in college. Alumni cell is working great to connect students with alumni helping them make better career decisions.

Exam Structure

KJSCE has private autonomy status, it can design its own exam timetable. There are two semester exams in a year and each subject exam has vivas, 2 unit tests, practical and final exam. Final scoring is CGPI based. Overall exams are challenging but most of students manage exams with few days of efforts.

Admission

Follow these steps: 1. Give MHT-CET MHT-CET is an engineering entrance exam held in May focusing on PCM knowlegde of candidate. Best part- NO Negative Marking. 2. DTE-CAP rounds Based on MHT-CET score ranks will be given to each candidate based on marks you score in exam. Then fill the form on DTE website with your personal and educational details and submit your preferences for college. Based on your merit rank college with be allotted. For KJSCE target high MHT-CET score for getting good merit rank. 3. Pay Fees and secure admission Fees for engineering in KJSCE is approx 1.5 lakhs/year. Once you get the college in DTE process verify documents at collge and secure your seat by paying fees.

Faculty

4

Faculty is decent on a whole. Some are very good at teaching while some lack teaching skills to a bit. But all faculties are atleast Mtech from top Engineering colleges of India and many of them are pursing PHD. So faculty have good knowledge about subjects they teach.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies) course primarily due to its highly comprehensive coverage of core business aspects specially human resources. The curriculum is well-structured to offer a deep understanding of corporate administration and strategic management, which strongly influenced my decision to enroll. Regarding the examination structure, semester exams are conducted systematically every six months, with internal assessments, assignments, and class presentations spread across the term. The timing is generally manageable, and the difficulty level ranges from moderate to high, effectively testing a student's analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities rather than just memory recall.

Placement Experience:

Yes there is placement cell of STES which is no different than other tier 3 engineering colleges offering a tier 3 average package depending on who is the recruiter. Students become eligible for campus from 3rd year of their degree. Highest package is something around 55 lakhs offered to a computer engineering student, and average is just like I said for a tier 3 college 5-6 lakhs(above or below). Almost everyone gets placed in the company but some might not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chooses this curriculum as I am intrested to do law. Many of students and other peoples praises the college as "Best College of Law" in Marathwada region. To be honest. Really it is best college. Which gives us best curriculum during our academic year. The curriculum of college teaches me how to become a good lawyer. The arguing skills etc. There should be no suggestions from my side just to imrove the course curriculum as it is overall good. The timings and scheduled are fixed by college and university. Generally the exam is in two shifts 10:00 to 1.00 and 2.00 to 5.00pm.

Reviewed on Oct 5, 2021(Enrolled 2017)

Remarks:

Laxminarayan Institute of Technology is a reputed institute, when it comes to the field of Chemical Engineering. The placement at LIT for M.Tech students is also decent. In my batch, 50% of the students were placed on Campus, which is better than many NITs for Chemical Engineers doing M.Tech. The admission fees of 27,000 per year is also less in comparison with other institutes. The Teachers at LIT are also vastly experienced. Also the Institute was in my hometown, which made my decision even more easier.
