- My college is well known for its societies so I really love how societies are so active.
- The teachers of my college don’t give the vibe of college professors at all they are very much like school teachers who teach properly and give proper time
- The security is quite strict and no one can enter without ID at all
Dislikes
- The societies provide pink slips for attendance but the teachers don’t accept it which is very disappointing
- The washrooms are not always clean and there should be proper maintenance of the washrooms
- The college canteen is not that great and the tenders keep changing which is problematic
Course Curriculum Overview
B.Com Hons is something I've wanted to do because. It is also the most demanded course in DU. In DU this course is taught very nicely and the subjects are also great. They slowly build up the knowledge of a student and someone who isn't even from commerce background can catchup since the subjects in the first and second sem are not that difficult
Placement Experience
Apparently there are great placements from my college. Companies like Deloitte, KPMG, EY, BCG, Accenture and many other big firms have been recruiting from our college in the past years. The highest package in 2023-24 was around 21 LPA. After BCom Hons many students prepare for CAT and get into an IIM and prefer to be placed from there since they get an MBA which expands their scope
Fees and Financial Aid
My year wise fees is 18000 which is quite reasonable and there is no extra fees. My department asked for a fees of 1500 that's it. Apart from it it's just the examination fees which I had to pay. For EWS the fees is around ?250
Campus Life
Gargi college is very well known for its extracurriculars and societies. The street play soceity (Kshitij) and the dance soceity ( Enliven) are the two best soceities of my college which are the most active. These societies help the student to gain additional skills and become confident. It also helps increase your network. There are NGOs which are run by the college students itself and have various projects under them
Admission
For getting into DU students need to take the CUET exam which is based on 12th syllabus only and a few topics here and there from 11th. I had applied to many colleges of DU under but dues to my score which was 734 I got into GARGI College. I feel everyone should prepare for objective papers for along with the subjective preparation since it would help them to crack CUET. For my course I had to take one language test, Three domain subjects out of which one should be either maths or accountancy.
Faculty
Usually the faculty to student ratio is 1:60 or around 1:50. The faculty is quite approachable. The commerce department has great faculty. We had a teacher named Mrs Geeta Kichlu ma'am who retired this year only and was an amazing teacher. There are many more teachers like this who teach in a very interesting way. Certain teachers can be problematic also but overall the faculty is great. Usually teachers tend not to give attendance to students who are part of societies and they don't even accept pink slips which can be a problem. There are 7 exams in total GE, SEC, VAC is chosen according to your own preferences
Night Life
There is no hostel in college but there are PGs nearby where student mostly reside. There is as such no nightlife as the students return after the classes after over at around 5:30 pm. Famous cafe which is just opposite my college is Diggin and there is also BBR nearby. There is another college which is just adjacent to my college that is KNC which is also an all girls college. People usually go to south ex to hangout which is nearby
