Course Curriculum Overview

2

Course curriculum is ancient and ill-structured. In 1st year, there is only 1 CS subject that too was common for all branches. As CS major, we had to study Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics subjects plus engg. PCM. It is hassle to pass these subjects as syllabus is vast and faculty never shows up. 2nd and 3rd year has 5 subjects in each sem, includes core subjects of CS. And yes, there is nothing industry relevant subjects. No DevOps, No webdev, no python. There are few subjects for ML and Data Analysis but they include theory and are too vast to complete in 3-4 months. Exams are theory based. All u need is to memorize and write vast amount of answers. I once wrote my complete exam in 20 pages beautifully answering everything and only got 40 marks. Then next time, I wrote utter nonsense for 40 pages and received 80/100. So write in detail very long answers.

Placement Experience

1

There is very little chance of being placed in our college. Our seniors were lucky as THDC decided to recruit 2 of them. For us there were not much. Only Yamaha MSIL was available that too as pool campus in Graphic Era. But they only selected 1 student as rest were from Graphic. So a PSU may come and pick 2-3 students sometimes but rest are khud k bharose. Some students opt to work in ColoredCow, a company part of Incubation at our college.they offer no salary for 6 months and then pay around 25k-30k. Others either prepare for govt. exams or go to job in Dehradun, Noida and Bengaluru on their personal contacts.

Fees and Financial Aid

We paid semester wise fees: Odd sem- 34600 Even sem- 37100 Plus hostel fees- 12000 per sem (exl. meal chrgs) Total security deposit in 4 years- 10k Now fees have increased: Yearly fees- 1 lakh Plus hostel -12k per sem There is a provision for TFW where tution fees of 30k per sem is waived off. The TFW seat is alloted at time of online counseling. Students can avail AICTE scholarship and NSP scholarship of their home states.

Campus Life

2

We didn't not have any cultural or tech fest in our college. The tradition ended with Covid, we tried to revive it with no success in our college time. But thankfully our juniors managed to conduct our technocultural fest named CIEZSYC after our graduation. Now there are good prospects for extracurricular activities but it all depends upon the students. For sports, we have a big ground, but it needs a lot of work. At our time, we used to have IHET cricket league once every semester. It was fun, but for competitive shit, we need better ground.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostels are 3 bedding accomodation. Rooms are spacious. There is bed, table and chair for all. Large almirahs are provided. Every room has a balcony. Toilets are fine and washing machines are available. Hostel mess is community kitchen run by students and faculty together. The food is not too good but fine. Most students prefer to live in rented rooms nearby. That is cheaper and no restrictions.

Admission

I took admission in Covid year, 2020.So all of colleges had delayed the admission procedure, but THDC was admitting on basis of 12th marks before even JEE mains was completed. I had not much prep for Jee, so I took admission in THDC as it was in my home district. Now the admission process is entirely online. You need to register in UTU website uktech.ac.in and select choices of college for counseling. It includes all the govt engineering colleges in Uttarakhand. It is easy and good process.

Faculty

2

Most of faculty is under quality. In CSE, there are only 2 permanent faculty and rest are on contract basis. None of them has Phd. CS faculty is friendly and give sufficient marks in internal. Don't expect any guidance on career from them bcz all of them have failed career choices that led them to this college. First year faculty is bit difficult. They give low marks in internal and have caused many students to fail in 1st year subjects. They are khadoos, especially Physics Prof, she is very arrogant and rarely comes to college. They don't believe in helping students. In my opinion, CS HOD Vivek sir has great knowledge of his craft. But due to insufficient interest from students, he rarely makes efforts to teach. If u happen to come around Anshu sir, then u will have no trouble with Digital Logic. For rest, ???? The exams are plentiful. When we started, there was only 1 sessional but now they choose marks on basis of average of 2 sessional exams. And the final semester exams. Plus internal and external practical exams. Exams are not much hassle but u must study enough in each to avoid any backlogs. It is very difficult to clear backlog here and more difficult to update marksheet.

Night Life

1

No nightlife as campus is small and constant threat of leopard in the area. Girls hostel closes at 6 pm and Boys have good flexibility. There is nice central canteen, rates are average and food is good. There is gym near the canteen but timing are only mornings and evenings. It remains closed during college hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The main aspects that motivates me to choose this college is the GFTI'S colleges . Because my father suggest me that govt. Colleges seeks more companies that's why I choose this college . But truth is totally opposite from the reality. Real world application based projects is just given by the teachers in every semester but we students copy it and give it to them from the gpt. College timing should be more less we have to study from 10 am to 5 p.m. Timings of exams are of 3 hrs only in semester . Difficulty level is moderate.

In final year of btech companies start coming. Maximum students of CSE and IT get placed. Package is min. 3.2Lacs CTC. Both mass recruiters and startups take part in the placement drive. A good number of students get placed. But maximum students of our college opt for higher studies like appearing for GATE, GRE, CAT exams. Further students indulge in preparation for govt services like UPSC, Defence.

Remarks:

Some faculty are there to taunt students not to study. They only know how to push down and demoralize anyone. One thing I didnt unferstand why faculty play politics in college rather than teaching students.
