Good private college

Thapar overall is a very good college.It lacks in some areas such as teaching and academics (not lacking I would say quality declining) The infrastructure is very good and also the hostel facility is very good

There are in total 8 semesters for a student pursuing a four year degree.The first two semesters are common for all freshers and they have to study all common subjects irrespective of branch.Then second year onwards they study course according to their respective branches.

Placements and job opportunities at Thapar are good.You can expect a package of 6-7 lakhs per annum from an average computer science student.Internship opportunities are also vast and college helps in providing internships

Many events are celebrated in the college especially in the odd semesters. All of them mainly culminate to SATURNALIA the main fest of the university.Many other intercollege and intercollege events keep happening over the year

Once the student joins the university he is provided with a fixed 4 year fee structure. Every year the fee increases by around 10-15%.I would say that it towards kind of an expensive structure as for a 4 year course you would be spending atleast around 20 lakhs

The college provides many types of scholarships based on different criterias like when a student is newly admitted he gets a chance to avail scholarship on the basis of his 12th board +JEE mains score ,moreover there is an annual scholarship based on students academic record.Many project based scholarship are also provided

As this a private college so a great emphasis is laid on extracurricular activities,labs and sports. They have got well maintained playgrounds for almost all major types of sports.The labs are generally well equipped with instruments

Hostel infrastructure is good. The facilities provided are also good.There have been very few cases of food poisoning or water related disease which shows that the mess food as well as the water provided is clean.Other facilities such as laundry are also provided in all hostels

The alumni network here is very vast.They often make a time time visits and give speeches on their journey to success.The senior students also are very helpful.The atmosphere here is very good for a sophomore to build his contacts

Admissions in Thapar are based on JEE main score but not directly through JOSAA. So I had to fill seperate form for Thapar .And there were consuelling rounds online for branch allotment before a final one in which I had to be physically present at the campus.

This is probably the weakest point of Thapar they have not been able to replace properly old faculties who left the college .The new faculty that are coming are just not capable enough but still they have got a very good core of senior professors
