Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is quite relevant and comprehensive. The college provides pool of subjects to choose from. If a subject is not provided by the college then students can also opt to study that subject in some other college of the cluster.

Internships Opportunities

3

Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi, provides diverse internship opportunities to its students through the active efforts of the Placement and Internship Cell, departmental initiatives, and collaborations with companies during college fests and fairs. The college, known for its strong academic orientation, also encourages students to gain practical exposure through internships across industries like finance, consulting, marketing, research, education, and social impact. Some of the prominent companies that have offered internships to students include Ernst & Young (EY), KPMG, Decathlon, HDFC Bank, and Teach for India, alongside a range of local startups and NGOs. EY has consistently recruited students for roles like Tax Analyst Intern and Risk Advisory Intern, where students assist in client audits, risk profiling, data analysis, and financial reporting, typically offering stipends ranging from ?8,000 to ?15,000 per month. Similarly, KPMG hires Research and Audit Associate Interns who contribute to industry analysis and client documentation, providing stipends in the range of ?10,000 to ?15,000. In the retail and marketing space, Decathlon offers internships focusing on store operations, retail management, and campus marketing campaigns, with stipends between ?5,000 and ?8,000, enabling students to understand retail dynamics and customer engagement strategies. Additionally, HDFC Bank provides internships in operations and sales departments, offering hands-on experience in banking processes, customer acquisition, and relationship management with a stipend of ?8,000 to ?12,000. Social sector internships are also popular, especially with organizations like Teach for India, where students take up roles like Campus Ambassadors and Project Interns, organizing awareness sessions, driving applications, and engaging with community outreach projects; these roles are either unpaid or offer a nominal stipend of ?3,000.

Placement Experience

4

In the beginning of 3rd year students sit for placements. The college has an active Placement cell which ensures maximum companies come to college for placements. Last year median package was of 600000 per annum and avg package was of 553000 per annum. A total of 44 companies participated and 213 placement offers were made.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fee for bcom hons in the college is 20,775. The same might be lesser for students from SC and ST category. The college provides scholarship on merit cum needs basis where students with a minimum family income level can apply. Students may also opt for other scholarships provided by other organisations

Campus Life

4

The campus life is good. There are n number of events and fests organised by various societies in the college. The library is accessible for all the College students during weekdays and reading room is available even on Saturdays. The classrooms have the proper study infrastructure. The sports department is well equipped. There are annual sports events in our college.

Admission

I applied for SRCC, Hindu, Hansraj , Kirorimal college and Ramjas college. I cleared the cutoff for Ramjas college but prefered SVC due to its political involvement. SVC is quite apolitical with minimum intervention by the rallies which makes the college environment better than many colleges. I couldn't clear cutoffs for SRCC, Hindu Hansraj and Kirorimal college by 6 marks. The college takes admission based on CUET score of the students

Faculty

4

In a class there are approx 80 students. The faculty student relationship is good. Students can talk their hearts out in class or in person, CRs are appointed for effective communication between the professors and the students. I personally liked Shruti mathur mam the most because of her friendly nature. There are semester exams twice a year however continuous assessment are taken by professors every semester. The assessments are easy to pass but difficult to ace with straight As.

Interview Experience

5

In Delhi University there is no such provision for group discussion or interview or any other written test except for Cuet. No there were no group discussion , interview or written test for admission. Admission is Solely based on cuet scores and for type breaker boards examination score.

Night Life

4

While Sri Venkateswara College itself isn't known for a buzzing nightlife inside the campus, the surroundings of South Campus, especially areas like Satya Niketan, bring the college neighborhood to life after classes. Campus Timings and Facilities: Library: Generally closes by 5 PM - 6 PM on working days. No late-night study areas inside the college. Cafeteria & Public Areas: The college canteen and sitting areas close by 5 PM when the college shuts down for the day. Hostel Timings: For those in hostels (limited in DU colleges), the entry/exit is strictly regulated. For girls’ hostels, the curfew is usually around 8 PM - 9 PM. For boys' hostels, it's slightly relaxed but still follows campus discipline.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course provides a comprehensive image of finance and management, though after NEP, the curriculum seems a little irrelevent. The exams are conducted twice in a year, 2 sems per year, they conduct mid sem exams as well.
