Pondicherry University - The green campus

I choose this course because it contains all branches of life sciences like biotech, microbiology, food science etc and so I can explore. Hopefully this curriculum helps me find a better masters option. The curriculum lacks practical skills which should be improved. Fixing the exam timings is a real struggle here , especially internals won't be having a fixed time table.

In our department we have to find the internships by ourselves, that's what we have been informed till now. Generally the internship starts from the 5th semester. There are departments with internship facilities . The university facilitate internships through placement cell and specific departmental initiatives and collaboration with organisations like MSME technology center. Paid internship with stipend is there.

There is no placement history for our course. The main department offering placement in the campus is mba . They have the highest placement history . Also MCA people have placements . Companies like tcs , hdfc bank etc visit. Approximately 50% students get placement. Since there is no placement in our department , I'm planning to take masters.

Initially at the time of taking admission, we have to pay an amount of 33,800 (this includes the tution fee, admission fee , lab fees, development fees and other compulsory charges)and the next semester and amount of 3000. From the next year onwards the odd sem and even sem fee is 22200 and 3000 respectively.

Akanksha is the flagship event of department of tourism studies which is held annually. The library facility is very nice and most of the required books are available. All the classrooms are not well furnished and no much technological provision. The campus is the best place for sports and extra curricular activities. There are many student run clubs like pu dance club , open soul (for singers) etc which has positive impact on student life .

A three share room , with three cots and table 2 fans and shelves. Free wifi with limited connectivity.Hostel toilets are not that clean. The meal quality is of average, cleanliness is the main issue and also the quantity is very limited and less. The availability of good rented rooms and pg is less around the university

I applied to Jamia Millia Islamia for biotechnology which I didn't got due to my low score in entrance exam and I also tried to get into lovely professional University which I cancelled due to the high fees. Then my next option was Pondicherry University, the prime reason I came here is because of the course. Clearing CUET examination is required for the admission. Physics chemistry and biology are the required subjects for the entrance exam. The cutoff marks are generally not that high and also there are a majority of students who get into through spot admission.

There is a fare faculty to student ratio.Most of them are approachable and some are not . There is faculty named Dr Shankar (biochemistry) he was very approachable and good teacher , teaches from the basics to the top. There will be 2 or3 internals before the sem exams for each subject. The internals schedule will not be in a fixed way and will be in a rush. The exams are of moderate level not too hard or too easy . Most of the students manage to pass . We have refer to many books for the exam because the papers are checked by professors who expect high level answers. The course curriculum is relevant in a way that we can explore all the branches of life sciences.

The best thing to experience here is night life and there is no curfew . Gym usually closes around 8 in the evening, library by 8:30 but reading hall is 24/7 in campus cafes won't be there till midnight. Famous hangout places include auroville , rock beach etc
