Course Curriculum Overview
The WCE curriculum is relevant and strong in fundamentals , which influenced my course choice. It prepares well for exams and higher studies, while real-world skills need self learning. Exams are semester-based, moderate to difficult, with one mid sem and one end sem.
Internships Opportunities
I am in second year CSE student. I completed my internship in first year which is offered by college for the first year students , it is one month internship. I learned about web development during my internship.
Placement Experience
In the 7th semester students are ready to place. Most of students get on campus placements.Some students get off campus placements and complete their masters . Most of students get placed in the company where they worked as intern. Which is PPO(pre placement offer). Highest package for this year is 1.5 crore .
Fees and Financial Aid
WCE Sangli B.Tech fees are ~85k/year for open category (tuition, development, other fees;). Total 3.3L for 4 years. Fees may increase . GOVT(MahaDBT) and merit-cum-need scholarship are available.SC/ST, OBC, EWS and TFWS student pay lower fees after scholarship. Category wise fees vary per year.
Campus Life
ASG is the annul social gathering in that many events are included like sports, days, gathering, etc. Most of students join the clubs , they engage the new students in activities. The library is digital library and have large amount of books and journals.
Hostel Facilities
Actually , hostels are very old , thats why rooms are become old also . There are double bed system for hostels . There are 4 girls in each room. There are 2 mess available , first one is national mess and another is Jolly mess, the mess alloted according to hostel deparment . You have to pay full year hostel fees at time of hostel addmision. hostels are alloted according to merit . For messyou have to pay per month.
Admission
I preferred WCE Sangli over private colleges due to its disciplined academics culture and experienced faculty. some colleges had higher cutoffs which i couldn't meet. Admission is through MHT-CET CAP rounds , with branch-wise cutoffs and a fair process.
Faculty
At Walchand college of engineering , Sangli, the faculty-student ratio is approximately 1:15-20, which allows meaningful academic interactions. Most faculty members are approachable , especially during practical sessions and project work, though some maintain a formal, exam-focused style. The course follows a semester-based structure with theory , labs, tutorials, and final-year project. Each subject includes one mid semester, two in-semester and one end-semester exams.
Night Life
Girls are not allowed in campus after 9pm. Gym timing is 6 to 8:30 morning and evening. Library open till 9pm. Lipton is most busy place in overall campus , because whenever there is off lecture students gather on lipton. The most beautiful place in college is The Sarasvati idol which significant campus landmark that symbolizes knowledge and learning for the students. It is allocated in front of the Ajit Gulabchand Central Libarary.
