Course Curriculum Overview

5

Before enrolling to the college I had checked out the syllabus and other components of the course and it all alligned perfectly with my goals. My interest lied in the field of Applied and Forensic Psychology and course does include such concepts. The curriculum deals with a variety of subjects in psychology including, Developmental Psychology, Social psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Biological aspects of Psychology and Physiology, Counselling Psychology, and many more. Additionally, I feel the course does prepare you well with the practicals to deal with real world applications. For suggestions I'd say, during practical exams, the college should provide students with random students as subjects ( as per their consent ofcourse) as when the students bring their own friends as a teste then that may result in a bias in their overall report. The frequency and timing of the exams are alright, they happen once a year and the difficulty level is quite approachable and good grades are achievable in the Course.

Internships Opportunities

5

Not many internships are available with stipend, especially in my course, you'd have to pay to attend additional internships. Regardless the college does offer some very interesting internships one of which was the "ISRO Summer/Winter intership program" and another which I attended was the "Psychotherapies Advance" by Hr' O Hr'.

Placement Experience

4

The final year UG students become eligible for campus placements if they have no backlogs and have maintained a proportionate % of attendance with significantly good academic scores. Companies such as Amazon, Deloitte, Teleperfomance, etc, do visit frequently and I'm sure a good amount of students are offered placements at these companies. My plan after my degree is to pursue Masters in Clinical or Counselling Psychology.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees at St Xavier's College for my course was around Rs. 60,000/- to Rs. 76,000/- Out of which there was a one time fee of Rs. 16,700/- ; This included the Admission fee which was Rs. 10,000/-, an Alumni fee of Rs. 3,000/-, an enrollment fee of Rs. 200/-, and a library/ Computer fee of Rs. 3,500/-. Additionally the overall fee for the first year was Rs. 76,000/- while the same for the 2nd and 3rd year was Rs. 60,000/- each. Regardless, there are many scholarship options available for students to opt for, including several merit and need based scholarships, one of which was the E-Kalyan Government Scholarship for SC/ST/ OBC students, another would be the Student Enrichment Scholarship which included a Sports scholarship. My personal favourite was the Transport scholarship where the cost of transport was either reduced for a couple of months based on the student's academics and attendance which should be above 75%.

Campus Life

4

There are many events which occur annually as every department is given the chance to organise events, each department comes up with their own unique ideas. The most famous out of all is the Zest Fest which occurs around February- March each year, where many events are conducted all together including several dance performances and guest entry of Singers and what not. The library on the other hand is a wonderful place, it has a large compartment of books with many categories in almost all subjects easily available for the students. The Annual Sport events include several track and field events along with Cricket and football matches.

Admission

In order to get into St Xavier's College Jaipur, you don't specifically need a high score or any certain exam, at least in my course the cut off is somewhere around 60% in your 12 th grade, regardless of CISCE, CBSE, etc. The admission process is simple, first you need to apply through the website and the fill a form and small fee. As per that the college will contact you on their own. To get your seat confirmed you need to deposit the one time admission fee and you're good to go.

Faculty

4

The faculty is quite approachable, even the strict professors are always willing to solve your doubts. The faculty to student ratio for my course was around 4:50. My favourite faculty members would be Sanbrita Mam and Ruhi Mam, they were nice and always gave a well thought out answer. Plus their teaching styles were quite intriguing. As per my course we had only 1 set of University exams per year while the college does conduct several internal exams, which was conducted once a year. The course had 4 Psych subjects which changed every year and one subsidiary subject which remained the same for the entirety of the course. The curriculum is quite relevant and teaches you exactly what you need to grasp the concept of psychology at the bachelor level. The exams were not that difficult if you prepare well enough for them, yet there were a few people who failed certain classes.

Night Life

2

The hostels of the college aren't located inside the premises of the college therefore there's no late night activities to be held. The college does have a cafeteria, library and public areas but I'm not too sure about the gym. The best place to hangout in the college would be near the Statue or the playground.

Course Curriculum Overview:

choose this course because I over-ambitious for UPSC CSE. Faculty is good but the management always treats them as a peon. For qualification according to me for 2 subjects eg English and Geography they hire a good teacher but for other subjects like political science they hire a teacher who passed from IGNOU college. Also, note that not a single faculty of my subject cleared any NET or any other exam. Semster mode Exam so it's become easier to pass the exam.
