- College supports many student clubs and student driven chapters.
- College allows a large number of students to be in the organizing committee of their fests.
- The girls to boys is ratio is about 4:6, which is a very good ratio.
Dislikes
- Too many lectures in a week, makes a hectic study schedule.
- Limited sports coaching faculty, grounds are many but trainers and coach are very few.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is higly aligned with the demand of the industry and the faculties try their best to cover all the latest technologies discovered till date to make students aware of the real world. The curriculum includes IT internships at the end of 2nd and 3rd year which gives exposure to te IT inddustry. Exams are happend after teaching about 1.5 months and the exams are about 2 weeks long.
Internships Opportunities
IBM offers a lot of internships opportunites with stipend for multiple courses, students starts doing IT internship just after the completion of 2 years of college, mostly unpaid but some do offer stipend if they are really happy with work done.
Placement Experience
Many types of roles are offered for placements also UPES takes lifetime placement responsibility, means you can sit for campus placements for lifetime even when you left or got termiinated from other companies after working for certain years maybe 5 or 10. A large number of students gets placed every year, almost 100% who doesn't have any back in any sem and a clear criminal record. Because UPES invites all types of packages from 1 Crore per annum to about 2-3 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
In my first year I got 20% scholarship in my tuition fees because of my percentile in JEE Mains Total fees paid is 1 st year - 4,10,000 rs approx 2 nd year - 4,91,000 rs approx Pending fees 3 rd year - About 5 Lakhs 4 th year - About 5 Lakhs It does provide merit scholarships, and other national sports achievement scholarships
Campus Life
College supports all types of clubs like marketing club, photography club, dance club, NSS club and also provide fundings to them to plan and execute events on multiple ocassions like the annual cultural fest Uurja and sports fest Spandan. In Spandan faculty and students come together in a team to represent their schools, like School of Computer Science and School of Law. It is a best opportunity to interact with faulties passionate about sports.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are good, but we have to share a common washroom in a floor of about 50 students, which is a little unhygenic. The mess food quality is average. It is affordable but in the same price you get a lot of resources and luxury rooms with attched washrooms if you rent a room outside of take a PG or private hostel.
Admission
When searching for a private college I found UPES very great as it has a really good infrastructure, environment and placements. One major reason was it's climate, as the weather is best during the whole year. I did apply for government colleges but couldn't meet their eligibility through JEE Mains so out of all the other private colleges, I found this college has the best college life.
Faculty
The faculty are very much helpful but to only those who approach them as the faculty to student ratio is very less, in the starting years we got a good faculty to student ratios, but after 3 sems we have to sit in a batch where a single teacher teaches a batch of 90 students at a time. For passing the course we have to gain atleast 35 marks in total out of 100, total is calculated by 20% of mid sems + 30% of end sems + 50% of internal marks, internal marks include class participation, assignments and class tests.
Night Life
The campus hostel in timing is 20:00 hrs i.e 8 PM, we have very good cafe and maggie points near our college also gym and playgrounds are open, if one wants to explore Dehradun is a very beautiful place and places like Mussoorie, Haridwar & Rishikesh are just 1-2 hrs away.
