Dibrugarh University Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

It is a well-known college in Jorhat, Assam. People prefer Jorhat for educational purposes. In Assam, Jorhat is pretty good for continuing your future education. The surroundings of the college is quite green, calm. NCC is there as a full-fledged department. There is a library, Auditorium, Indoor sports stadium. Located at the heart of the city, you can find accommodations quite easily.

For this course, there are always students more than the capacity. Most of the faculty are PhD holders and highly qualified. There were terminal exams to check on the students' progression and it was not so difficult to pass because the explanation of the faculty makes it so easy to understand that one pass with sufficient marks easily.

I choose petroleum engineering because I liked the subject chemistry and also wanted to do engineering. The faculty-student ratio is 8:45. The qualification of the faculties in DUET were all PhD holders. All the faculties are really supportive and their teaching skills are really good. End term, as well as mid term exams, were conducted by the DUET.

I choose B.Com in Human Resource because I was more likely to go into the hr field. There are 65 students in class and we have 4 subjects handled by 4 different faculties. All the faculties are well trained and educated. The term exam we held every 6 months without fail.

So basically our college follows 6 semester undergraduate programme and under this programme in each semester there was two internal assessment test followed with a group discussion or viva depending on the suitability of the subject and all these were taken for the marking of internal marks and also marks were awarded for regular attendance and irregular attendants were punished by not allowing them to appear for the exam by marking them as non collegiate or dis collegiate. The semester exams were carried in due time as notified by the Dibrugarh university as it the sole authority of our college and mainly the semester exams are carried out in the month of the last week of May and December. The difficulty of exam - the exams are very easy and follows the syllabus as notified by the university and there is also a choice provided for each question in the question paper so this makes the exam easier and more scoring.

Students apply for placements at the end of the 5th sem and 6th sem. Though there aren't many direct placements, students by their own means get placed somewhere or the other. Different companies that students get into through campus placement include TCS, Genpact, Vedanta, etc. People also get into Government jobs and other internships. I went to academics, after my degree.

There aren't any campus placements in our college. After completing my Bcom I am thinking to to do digital marketing course from outside Assam from a good institute offline. And also while pursuing my Bcom I would also want to do other courses as well related to ooh digital media, internet, commerce etc.

I opted for B.com degree to have a stable background before following my actual aim in career. After this degree I will be opting for a masters in literature along with a diploma course in designing. After that I am willing to go for a proprietor in a publishing house or also a PHD in literature.

From 6th semester students can become eligible for placements. As I am in 1st year I don't know so much about the companies but I have heard that wipro and Oil India Limited came. Percentage of students getting a placement is average but if you are good in your filed their is a possibility that you can get the job.

From 5th semester students become eligible fir campus placement. The companies like ONGC, NRL, OIL, APDCL, etc. have visited the college and offered a lot of seats to the students. Highest 150000 per month package and average 80000 per month package are in record of the offer . More than 40% students get placement from this college every year. I would like to go for higher studies after completing my degree in this college.
