Should you pick BA Performing Arts at Christ University?

This course suits students who already perform in dance, music or theatre and want to build a career on stage.

Pick it if:
You want to work in theatre or film in Bangalore: the city has working theatre groups and film studios you can join while you study.
You want stage time every year: the department holds the Darpan, Blossoms and In Bloom festivals, so every batch performs on a real stage.
You may want a fourth honours year: score 75% across the first six semesters and you can add the honours year with research.
You want the fee back quickly: the full fee is smaller than one year of the average pay Christ reports, as the ROI tile shows.
Skip it if:
You are counting on a big campus offer: commerce students took about half the placements last year and arts students about a quarter.
You want a small batch: the BA intake is about 500 seats across campuses, so the last students placed wait longer.
You need food with your hostel room: the hostel fee covers the room only, so you pay for every meal yourself.
You plan to apply in the last round: seats go round by round, so a late form has fewer seats left to take.
Counsellor's advice
If you have trained in dance, music or theatre, apply in the first round and send a clean practice video. If you want a big campus package, this course is not the one to pick.

In short
Kristu Jayanti costs INR 1.38 Lakhs less and ranks higher on Collegedunia's arts list, but it places a smaller share of its batch. If money decides it, take Kristu Jayanti; if the stage work decides it, take Christ University.

FAQs on Christ University BA Performing Arts

Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.

Is BA Performing Arts at Christ University worth the fee?
Yes, if you want to build a career on stage. The full course fee is INR 3.83 Lakhs without hostel and Christ paid an average of INR 7 LPA across all its courses last year. Arts pay is lower than commerce pay here, so treat the stage work, the festivals and the Bangalore contacts as the real return. Read the fee block above before you take a loan.
What job will I get after this course?
Most students work in performance, teaching or production. The course trains you in Bharatanatyam, Carnatic music and contemporary theatre, so dance and theatre groups, schools, studios and arts bodies are the usual first jobs. The highest BA offer at Christ was INR 15.75 LPA last year, but that is the top of the whole BA batch. Build your own show reel from year 1.
Who should not take this course here?
Skip it if you have never trained in dance, music or theatre. The skill assessment asks you to perform, and the course then puts you on stage every year. Skip it too if you need a hostel with food, because the hostel fee covers the room only. If a big campus package is your goal, this is not the course for it.
Should I take this course if I have never trained in dance or music?
Not this year. The skill assessment is a live performance and it carries real weight in the selection, so students who have trained will be ahead of you. Join a class for a few months, record a clean practice video and apply in the next cycle. Use the marks checker above to see where you stand.
Is this course good for higher studies?
Yes, and Christ has a path for it. If you score 75% across the first six semesters you can add a fourth honours year with research, which is what a master's application asks for. Talk to the department in year 2 about a project with a faculty member. Without the honours year you can still apply for an MA or an MPA.
Will I get a campus placement from this course?
Maybe, but do not plan only for it. Christ placed 4,065 students in 2024-25 and 90% of the batch was placed, but commerce students took about half of those offers and arts and social science students about a quarter. Most performing arts work comes from your own contacts in the city. Start meeting theatre groups in year 1.
Should I pick Christ if I want a big salary?
No, not on this course. The median pay for three-year UG courses at Christ was INR 5.61 LPA, and arts pay sits below the commerce and science numbers. Pick this course because you want to perform and teach. If pay is the main test, compare the courses in the compare block above first.
Should I choose Bangalore for a performing arts degree?
Yes, if you want to work while you study. The city has working theatre groups, film studios and music schools, so you can take small jobs and shows through the three years. The campus sits on Hosur Road, close to that work. That city practice often matters more than the marks on your card.
Should I wait a year and apply again if I am not selected?
Only if you use the year to train. Christ selects on the entrance test, the skill assessment, the micro presentation and the interview, so another year of practice changes your result more than another year of study. If you are below 50% in Class 12, you have to fix that first, because it is the entry bar.
How do I get admission to this course?
Apply on the Christ admission portal and pay the application fee. You then sit the Christ entrance test, give a skill assessment where you perform, a micro presentation and a personal interview. If you get the offer, pay the admission fee within five working days, then bring your originals for the document check.
What is the full fee for the course?
The full 3-year fee is INR 3.83 Lakhs without hostel. With the hostel it comes to INR 5.33 Lakhs. Both totals sit in the fee block above, and the toggle there shows what the hostel adds each year. Students on the NRI quota pay INR 5.76 Lakhs.
Can I pay the fee in parts?
Yes. You pay the tuition fee once every year, in three parts across the course, so the money is never due all at once. The university and registration fee is paid once, in year 1. Ask the Admission Cell about a smaller split before the year starts.
Does the hostel fee include food?
No. The hostel fee is INR 50,000 a year and it covers the room and its upkeep only, so you pay for every meal yourself. Add that to your monthly budget before you take a room. Rooms are shared and are given on request, not to every student.

Does Christ University Bangalore offer placements for Law courses?

Vipul MishraLLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from Christ University (2016 - 2018 Batch)

SLCU Christ University is one of the best private Law colleges in India. SLCU Law ranking by IIRF is 16 out of 50 in India in 2024 and it was ranked #17 out of 70 by India Today in 2023.

I did my LLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from SLCU Christ University in 2018. I can say it is one of the top private universities to do LLM courses because of its education Quality, teaching methods, etc. SLCU offers decent placements with lucrative offers and high ROI. The Department has a seperate placement cells which guides and trains students for placements, how to face Group discussions for interviews, etc. Right from the final semester SLCU's active placement cells starts teaching students; how to sit for the interview, to talk and negotiate for high package, building an attractive CV, etc. The average CTC package when I completed my graduation at SLCU Christ University was between INR 4 - 7 LPA and for sure it is above INR 7 LPA these days. Luthra and Luthra, S&R Associates, Khaitan & Co., Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and AZB & Partners are some top recruiters in SLCU for LLM graduates.

Is pursuing LLM at School of Law, Christ University expensive?

Uttam KumarLLM from Christ University (2021 Batch)

Christ University has a separate school for its law course that is School of Law - Christ University. SLCU offers several Law courses at UG, PG, Diploma and Doctorate level. It offers 3 LLM courses at a fees Structure ranging between INR 1,50,000 - 2,50,000 based on LLM specializations.

Pursuing a LLM course from SLCU Christ University Bangalore at a fees of INR 2.50 Lakhs is not expensive as per my perspective. For financially weaker students, SLCU Christ University Bangalore also provides Education Loan and many scholarships. I myself was one such user to get Scholarships from Christ University. Scholarships at SLCU are offered based on academic results of a student during LLM course. When compared to other colleges offering LLM and the Education Quality and facilities offered at Christ University, fees is reasonable.

Can I pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA?

Rohan TiwariLLM from Christ University (2016 Batch)

No, you cannot pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA. My name is Rohan Tiwari. I have completed an LLM from Christ University. This is the same question that I had before.

Christ University, Bangalore offers different law courses including integrated LLB and LLM. School of love Christ University does not offer a direct LLB course. Candidates wishing to pursue LLB course must have to complete 10 + 2 or any Bachelors Degree for minimum 3 years. One cannot opt LLB without any prior Bachelor's degree. But if anyone likes to do only LLB then they have to spend 1 year extra which means that if someone has intentionally or unintentionally completed a 3-years degree course like BA, BCom, BBA, etc. then one can pursue a 3 years LLB course. So I have done BA Hons from Pune University but due to the transfer of my father, we relocated to Bangalore and later on I got interested in Law studies so I opted for a 3-years LLB course at Christ University. I spent 6-years for BA and LLB courses. So according to my experience it is better to pursue integrated LLB courses with BBA / BA or BCom, etc.

Rohit KumarBBA LLB from Christ University (2019 Batch)

Yes, School of Law, Christ University is very good for BA LLB course. SLCU offers a 5-years integrated BA LLB program.

  • SLCU Christ University is ranked by various Ranking agencies like NIRF Ranking, India Today, etc. It is ranked #16 by IIRF Ranking 2023 for Law, #17 by India today and #12 by The Week 2023.
  • The law course at SLCU also provides Moot course facilities to allow students to gain practical knowledge.

Aisha KhanMBA Marketing from Christ University (2015 - 2017 Batch)

I have completed my MBA from Christ University. I have good connections with Christ University, and they call me for counseling and mentoring the current MBA batches. Mostly I come across the question of whether science graduates can pursue an MBA at Christ University.

First of all, candidates who wish to get admission into Christ University must be well acquainted with the eligibility criteria set by the University for MBA admission. Aspirants must complete a Bachelor's degree in any stream with a minimum aggregate of 60%. In addition to that, they must qualify MAT / CAT / CMAT / XAT / GMAT / GRE / ATMA. Finally, shortlisted candidates are called for GD/ PI and document verification.

Do I need Work Experience to be selected by Christ University for an MBA?

Shahzad KhanMBA Human Resources Management from Christ University (2017 - 2019 Batch)

As a Christ University student, I would like to answer this question for you.

I have completed an MBA in Human Resources Management from Christ University in 2019. As per my knowledge, experience plays an important role in MBA admission into any top College/ University like Christ.

MBA Admissions at Christ University are entrance-based. Aspirants must qualify an MBA entrance and face GD PI rounds to get admission. For some MBA specializations and Executive MBA, one may also be asked for a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in the relevant field.

After my bachelor's, I started working in a 4-star hotel and took a break from my studies. There I worked for 2 years and gained important knowledge and skills. I was given preference over other candidates because of my work experience.

This is how work experience plays a role in MBA admissions at Christ University.
