Christ University BCA FAQs

Ques. What is the difference between BCA and BCA (Honours) at Christ University Bangalore?

Ans. Under NEP 2020, Christ University offers BCA in three pathways: BCA (3 years, standard), BCA (Honours) (4 years, advanced Honours degree), and BCA (Honours with Research) (4 years, with a research focus). The BCA (Honours) pathway provides a more advanced degree than the standard BCA, with the 4th year adding depth through Honours-level coursework. The total fee for BCA (Honours) is Rs. 7.84 Lakhs compared to Rs. 5.9 Lakhs for the standard 3-year BCA. The Honours degree is preferred by international universities and premium employers.

Ques. Is BCA (Honours) at Christ University worth the extra cost compared to the standard BCA?

Ans. For students planning to pursue higher education abroad, work in research-oriented roles, or join premium technology companies, the BCA (Honours) is strongly recommended. The Honours degree is recognised by international universities and makes graduates eligible to apply for PhD programmes globally. The additional cost (Rs. 7.84 Lakhs vs Rs. 5.9 Lakhs) is justified by the enhanced academic credentials and career opportunities. Students who are certain about entering the workforce immediately after graduation may find the standard BCA sufficient.

Ques. What is the FAST-TRACK option in BCA (Honours) at Christ University?

Ans. Students with strong academic records (typically a high CGPA) are eligible for the FAST-TRACK option at Christ University. Under this option, students can pursue a full-time industry internship during the 6th semester instead of regular coursework. This provides real-world industry exposure and often leads to pre-placement offers. The FAST-TRACK option is competitive and is awarded based on academic performance and faculty recommendation.

Ques. Can BCA (Honours) students at Christ University go for student exchange programmes abroad?

Ans. Yes. Christ University offers credit transfer opportunities for BCA (Honours) students who wish to go on a student exchange to foreign universities for a short semester. These opportunities are available through the university's international tie-ups and are competitive. Students must maintain a good CGPA and meet the eligibility criteria set by the partner university. The exchange programme provides global exposure and significantly enhances career prospects.

Ques. What are the placement prospects for BCA (Honours) graduates from Christ University?

Ans. BCA (Honours) graduates from Christ University are eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester, subject to a minimum CGPA of 6.0. The programme's #1 national ranking attracts top IT companies including Google, Amazon, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Accenture, and IBM. The average package for BCA graduates is approximately Rs. 4.5 to 6 LPA, with the highest package reported at Rs. 16 LPA. The Honours degree, with its advanced coursework, is particularly valued by premium technology recruiters and international employers.

Ques. How strict is the attendance policy for BCA (Honours) at Christ University, and what happens if I miss classes?

Ans. Christ University enforces a strict 85% minimum attendance requirement for all students, including BCA (Honours). This applies to all lectures and is non-negotiable regardless of the reason for absence. Students who fall below 85% attendance are not permitted to appear for semester examinations. There are no exemptions for students pursuing external certifications or internships outside the FAST-TRACK programme. Students are advised to plan their schedules carefully to maintain the required attendance throughout all 4 years of the programme.

SLCU Christ University is one of the best private Law colleges in India. SLCU Law ranking by IIRF is 16 out of 50 in India in 2024 and it was ranked #17 out of 70 by India Today in 2023.

The Department has a seperate placement cells which guides and trains students for placements, how to face Group discussions for interviews, etc. Right from the final semester SLCU's active placement cells starts teaching students; how to sit for the interview, to talk and negotiate for high package, building an attractive CV, etc. The average CTC package when I completed my graduation at SLCU Christ University was between INR 4 - 7 LPA and for sure it is above INR 7 LPA these days. Can I pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA?

Rohan TiwariLLM from Christ University (2016 Batch)

No, you cannot pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA. My name is Rohan Tiwari. I have completed an LLM from Christ University. This is the same question that I had before.

Christ University, Bangalore offers different law courses including integrated LLB and LLM. School of love Christ University does not offer a direct LLB course. Candidates wishing to pursue LLB course must have to complete 10 + 2 or any Bachelors Degree for minimum 3 years. One cannot opt LLB without any prior Bachelor's degree. But if anyone likes to do only LLB then they have to spend 1 year extra which means that if someone has intentionally or unintentionally completed a 3-years degree course like BA, BCom, BBA, etc. then one can pursue a 3 years LLB course. So I have done BA Hons from Pune University but due to the transfer of my father, we relocated to Bangalore and later on I got interested in Law studies so I opted for a 3-years LLB course at Christ University. I spent 6-years for BA and LLB courses. So according to my experience it is better to pursue integrated LLB courses with BBA / BA or BCom, etc.

Do I need Work Experience to be selected by Christ University for an MBA?

Shahzad KhanMBA Human Resources Management from Christ University (2017 - 2019 Batch)

As a Christ University student, I would like to answer this question for you.

I have completed an MBA in Human Resources Management from Christ University in 2019. As per my knowledge, experience plays an important role in MBA admission into any top College/ University like Christ.

MBA Admissions at Christ University are entrance-based. Aspirants must qualify an MBA entrance and face GD PI rounds to get admission. For some MBA specializations and Executive MBA, one may also be asked for a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in the relevant field.

After my bachelor's, I started working in a 4-star hotel and took a break from my studies. There I worked for 2 years and gained important knowledge and skills. I was given preference over other candidates because of my work experience.

This is how work experience plays a role in MBA admissions at Christ University.
