Should you pick B.Sc Economics at Christ University?

This course suits students who like maths and want a job in economics, finance or data, or a master's degree later.

Pick it if:
You want a job in finance or data: the university names Deloitte, KPMG and HSBC as recruiters, and this course teaches you statistics.
You want internships in a big city: the campus is in Bengaluru, where banks, consulting firms and tech companies have large offices.
You want pay that is rising: median pay for its three-year degrees rose from INR 4.80 LPA to INR 5.61 LPA in three NIRF years.
You like maths more than theory: you study Economics, Mathematics and Statistics together for three years, with an optional fourth honours year.
Skip it if:
You want a small batch: the university had 5,056 three-year graduates in one NIRF year, so many students try for the same jobs.
You need a job right after the degree: only 55% of that batch got placed, so plan a master's degree or your own job search.
You did not study Mathematics in Class 12: Mathematics is a must for this course, so the university will not select you for it.
You want a low fee: students from other states pay INR 1.46 Lakhs a year, which is high for a three-year science degree.

FAQs on Christ University B.Sc Economics

Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.

Is B.Sc Economics at Christ University worth the fee?
Yes, if you use the maths and statistics it teaches. The full fee without hostel is INR 4.46 Lakhs, and the median pay for the university's three-year degrees was INR 5.61 LPA in NIRF 2026. So one year of median pay is more than the full fee. If a loan will pay the fee, read the EMI line in the fee block above first.
What job can I get after this course?
Most jobs are in data, finance and business analysis. The university lists data analyst, financial analyst, actuarial analyst and economist as paths, and names Deloitte, KPMG and HSBC among its recruiters. Build Excel and statistics skills from the first year, and take an internship in the second year.
Who should not take this course here?
Skip it if you did not study Mathematics in Class 12, or if you need a low fee. Mathematics is a must, and students from other states pay INR 1.46 Lakhs a year. Also skip it if you want a small batch, because the university had 5,056 three-year graduates in one NIRF year.
Will I get placed after this course?
Maybe, but do not count on it. In NIRF 2025, 55% of the university's three-year graduates were placed, and many others went for higher studies. Plan your own internships in Bengaluru, and keep a master's degree as your second plan.
Is this course good for a master's degree later?
Yes, it is a good base for an MA or MSc in Economics, or a master's in data science. You study Economics, Mathematics and Statistics together, and that mix is what these entrance tests check. Take the optional fourth honours year if you want to go into research.
Should I choose B.Sc Economics or a BA in Economics?
Choose B.Sc Economics if you like maths and want data or finance work. This course teaches Mathematics and Statistics alongside Economics for three years. If you did not take Mathematics in Class 12, a BA is the course you can join.
Is the fee better for Karnataka students?
Yes. Karnataka students pay INR 1.26 Lakhs a year, while students from other states pay INR 1.46 Lakhs a year. Keep your Karnataka papers ready when you pay the fee, so the right rate is charged.
Should I wait for the second or third selection window?
No, apply in the first window if you can. The later windows are for students who missed the first one, and seats fill as each list comes out. If you miss the first window, apply in the next one as soon as it opens.
How do I get admission to this course?
Apply on the university admission portal and pay the application fee. Then take the entrance test, the skill assessment, the micro presentation and the interview. If your name is on the selection list, pay the fee within five working days, or you lose the seat.
What is the full fee for the course?
The full 3-year fee is INR 4.46 Lakhs without hostel for students from other states. With Christ Hostel it comes to INR 7.10 Lakhs. Both totals sit in the fee block above, and the toggle there shows what the hostel adds.
Can I get a scholarship on this course?
Yes, three schemes can cut the fee. The university's financial help can give up to INR 73,000 in year 1 to low-income families. The central scheme gives INR 12,000 a year if you are in the top 20 percentile of Class 12. Use the calculator above to check your answers.
Is there a hostel for first-year students?
Yes, the university has Christ Hostel, with separate hostels for men and women. A twin room costs INR 88,160 a year, paid in three parts, plus a INR 5,000 deposit you get back. Apply for a room as soon as you pay the admission fee.

Does Christ University Bangalore offer placements for Law courses?

Vipul MishraLLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from Christ University (2016 - 2018 Batch)

SLCU Christ University is one of the best private Law colleges in India. SLCU Law ranking by IIRF is 16 out of 50 in India in 2024 and it was ranked #17 out of 70 by India Today in 2023.

I did my LLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from SLCU Christ University in 2018. I can say it is one of the top private universities to do LLM courses because of its education Quality, teaching methods, etc. SLCU offers decent placements with lucrative offers and high ROI. The Department has a seperate placement cells which guides and trains students for placements, how to face Group discussions for interviews, etc. Right from the final semester SLCU's active placement cells starts teaching students; how to sit for the interview, to talk and negotiate for high package, building an attractive CV, etc. The average CTC package when I completed my graduation at SLCU Christ University was between INR 4 - 7 LPA and for sure it is above INR 7 LPA these days. Luthra and Luthra, S&R Associates, Khaitan & Co., Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and AZB & Partners are some top recruiters in SLCU for LLM graduates.

Can I pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA?

Rohan TiwariLLM from Christ University (2016 Batch)

No, you cannot pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA. My name is Rohan Tiwari. I have completed an LLM from Christ University. This is the same question that I had before.

Christ University, Bangalore offers different law courses including integrated LLB and LLM. School of love Christ University does not offer a direct LLB course. Candidates wishing to pursue LLB course must have to complete 10 + 2 or any Bachelors Degree for minimum 3 years. One cannot opt LLB without any prior Bachelor's degree. But if anyone likes to do only LLB then they have to spend 1 year extra which means that if someone has intentionally or unintentionally completed a 3-years degree course like BA, BCom, BBA, etc. then one can pursue a 3 years LLB course. So I have done BA Hons from Pune University but due to the transfer of my father, we relocated to Bangalore and later on I got interested in Law studies so I opted for a 3-years LLB course at Christ University. I spent 6-years for BA and LLB courses. So according to my experience it is better to pursue integrated LLB courses with BBA / BA or BCom, etc.

First of all, candidates who wish to get admission into Christ University must be well acquainted with the eligibility criteria set by the University for MBA admission. Aspirants must complete a Bachelor's degree in any stream with a minimum aggregate of 60%. In addition to that, they must qualify MAT / CAT / CMAT / XAT / GMAT / GRE / ATMA. Finally, shortlisted candidates are called for GD/ PI and document verification.

You are eligible for MBA admissions at Christ University Bangalore with a Bachelor’s in any stream, as long as you fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria.

Do I need Work Experience to be selected by Christ University for an MBA?

Shahzad KhanMBA Human Resources Management from Christ University (2017 - 2019 Batch)

As a Christ University student, I would like to answer this question for you.

I have completed an MBA in Human Resources Management from Christ University in 2019. As per my knowledge, experience plays an important role in MBA admission into any top College/ University like Christ.

MBA Admissions at Christ University are entrance-based. Aspirants must qualify an MBA entrance and face GD PI rounds to get admission. For some MBA specializations and Executive MBA, one may also be asked for a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in the relevant field.

After my bachelor's, I started working in a 4-star hotel and took a break from my studies. There I worked for 2 years and gained important knowledge and skills. I was given preference over other candidates because of my work experience.

This is how work experience plays a role in MBA admissions at Christ University.
