Should you pick M.A. Public Policy at Christ University?

This course suits students who want policy research, public service preparation and a Bengaluru campus network.

Pick it if:
You want policy work in Bengaluru: the course teaches policy writing, data and governance, and the city has NGOs and research offices nearby.
You want internship time: semester 3 is a 12 credit internship, so your project work starts before final year.
You need a clear fee before applying: the fee is fixed for 2 years, and year 1 payment follows the offer.
You want the fee checked against pay: INR 7 LPA average pay is higher than the INR 5.08 Lakhs fee.
Skip it if:
You need a public entrance rank: Christ uses skill assessment, micro presentation and interview, so one test score will not decide it.
You want a low fee course: INR 5.08 Lakhs is high for an MA, so check the EMI tile before paying.
You need a hostel with mess on campus: main campus halls have limited seats, and Jonas Hall has no mess.
You want only classroom study: semester 3 is internship work, so field writing and policy briefs carry weight.
Counsellor's advice
If your goal is policy research or civil service prep, apply early and prepare for SA MP PI. If money is tight, check the scholarship office before paying.

FAQs on Christ University M.A. Public Policy

Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.

Is M.A. Public Policy at Christ University worth the fee?▾
Yes, if you want policy research, civil service preparation or social impact work in Bengaluru. The full fee without hostel is INR 5.08 Lakhs and the published average pay is INR 7 LPA. Check the EMI tile first if you need a loan, then apply early because the first step is the Christ form.
What job can I get after this course?▾
The course points to policy work in government, NGOs, academia and private sector roles. Published placement data lists INR 7 LPA average pay and INR 32 LPA highest pay. Use the course for research, programme, consulting and policy writing roles, and build one strong internship in semester 3.
Should I take this course if I want civil service preparation?▾
Yes, if you also want a backup in policy research. The syllabus has governance, constitution, economy, ethics, public administration and current affairs. That helps civil service preparation, but it is still a full MA. Keep time for answer writing outside class.
Who should skip this course at Christ University?▾
Skip it if you want a low-fee MA with no interview pressure. The fee without hostel is INR 5.08 Lakhs and selection uses skill assessment, micro presentation and interview. You should also skip it if you do not want internship work in semester 3.
Is the selection safe if I have 50% in graduation?▾
It is safe only for eligibility, not for admission. The course needs 50% aggregate marks, but the offer depends on SA MP PI and academic papers. Apply if you clear the marks rule, then prepare a short policy topic and a clear reason for this course.
Is Christ better for policy jobs or higher studies?▾
It suits both, but the stronger use is applied policy work. The course has research methods, public administration, economics, policy writing and a 12 credit internship. If you want higher studies, use the research project and internship to build a writing sample.
Will the Bengaluru location help this course?▾
Yes, for students who use it well. Bengaluru has NGOs, research offices, consulting teams and public service networks. The course page also names mentoring and the alumni network. Start looking for internship leads before semester 3, because the city helps only when you reach out early.
Can I pay the fee in parts?▾
Yes, the main programme fee is paid year by year. The first year fee is paid after the offer, and the second year fee is due later as per the fee table. If you need more help, speak to the scholarship office before the payment step.
Does Christ give scholarships for this course?▾
There are awards and fee help, but they are not automatic. Merit and activity awards can be INR 1,000 to INR 10,000, and fee concession is reviewed through the department route. Use the scholarship calculator above as an estimate and confirm the papers with the office.
Is hostel sure for M.A. Public Policy students?▾
No, hostel seats are limited and allotted after admission steps. Main campus halls list rooms, but some halls do not include mess. Turn on the fee toggle to see the hostel and mess estimate, then check the hostel office before you plan your budget.
Should I wait a year and apply later?▾
Wait only if your graduation marks are below 50% or your policy goal is not clear. If you already meet the rule and want policy work, apply in this cycle. The form window has a fixed last date, and missing it means you lose this intake.
Is this course right for public policy beginners?▾
Yes, if you are ready to read, write and present often. The course starts with policy analysis, governance, economy and ethics, then moves to research methods and internship work. Come in with basic news reading and writing practice, because SA MP PI checks how clearly you think.

Does Christ University Bangalore offer placements for Law courses?

Vipul MishraLLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from Christ University (2016 - 2018 Batch)

SLCU Christ University is one of the best private Law colleges in India. SLCU Law ranking by IIRF is 16 out of 50 in India in 2024 and it was ranked #17 out of 70 by India Today in 2023.

I did my LLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from SLCU Christ University in 2018. I can say it is one of the top private universities to do LLM courses because of its education Quality, teaching methods, etc. SLCU offers decent placements with lucrative offers and high ROI. The Department has a seperate placement cells which guides and trains students for placements, how to face Group discussions for interviews, etc. Right from the final semester SLCU's active placement cells starts teaching students; how to sit for the interview, to talk and negotiate for high package, building an attractive CV, etc. The average CTC package when I completed my graduation at SLCU Christ University was between INR 4 - 7 LPA and for sure it is above INR 7 LPA these days. Luthra and Luthra, S&R Associates, Khaitan & Co., Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and AZB & Partners are some top recruiters in SLCU for LLM graduates.

Is pursuing LLM at School of Law, Christ University expensive?

Uttam KumarLLM from Christ University (2021 Batch)

Christ University has a separate school for its law course that is School of Law - Christ University. SLCU offers several Law courses at UG, PG, Diploma and Doctorate level. It offers 3 LLM courses at a fees Structure ranging between INR 1,50,000 - 2,50,000 based on LLM specializations.

Pursuing a LLM course from SLCU Christ University Bangalore at a fees of INR 2.50 Lakhs is not expensive as per my perspective. For financially weaker students, SLCU Christ University Bangalore also provides Education Loan and many scholarships. I myself was one such user to get Scholarships from Christ University. Scholarships at SLCU are offered based on academic results of a student during LLM course. When compared to other colleges offering LLM and the Education Quality and facilities offered at Christ University, fees is reasonable.

Can I pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA?

Rohan TiwariLLM from Christ University (2016 Batch)

No, you cannot pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA. My name is Rohan Tiwari. I have completed an LLM from Christ University. This is the same question that I had before.

Christ University, Bangalore offers different law courses including integrated LLB and LLM. School of love Christ University does not offer a direct LLB course. Candidates wishing to pursue LLB course must have to complete 10 + 2 or any Bachelors Degree for minimum 3 years. One cannot opt LLB without any prior Bachelor's degree. But if anyone likes to do only LLB then they have to spend 1 year extra which means that if someone has intentionally or unintentionally completed a 3-years degree course like BA, BCom, BBA, etc. then one can pursue a 3 years LLB course. So I have done BA Hons from Pune University but due to the transfer of my father, we relocated to Bangalore and later on I got interested in Law studies so I opted for a 3-years LLB course at Christ University. I spent 6-years for BA and LLB courses. So according to my experience it is better to pursue integrated LLB courses with BBA / BA or BCom, etc.

Do I need Work Experience to be selected by Christ University for an MBA?

Shahzad KhanMBA Human Resources Management from Christ University (2017 - 2019 Batch)

As a Christ University student, I would like to answer this question for you.

I have completed an MBA in Human Resources Management from Christ University in 2019. As per my knowledge, experience plays an important role in MBA admission into any top College/ University like Christ.

MBA Admissions at Christ University are entrance-based. Aspirants must qualify an MBA entrance and face GD PI rounds to get admission. For some MBA specializations and Executive MBA, one may also be asked for a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in the relevant field.

After my bachelor's, I started working in a 4-star hotel and took a break from my studies. There I worked for 2 years and gained important knowledge and skills. I was given preference over other candidates because of my work experience.

This is how work experience plays a role in MBA admissions at Christ University.
