Should you pick MA Comparative Religion at Christ University?

This course suits students who want religion, philosophy, research and interfaith work more than a corporate job.

Pick it if:
You want interfaith work: the department teaches religion, philosophy and theology on one central Bengaluru campus.
You need a low course fee: the full fee is INR 1.68 Lakhs before hostel, so the money risk stays low.
You dislike entrance ranks: Christ uses your application, assessment and interview instead of a public rank cutoff.
You plan higher studies: the course has 2 years and a research path, so you can build a PhD topic early.
Skip it if:
You want a campus job first: the published pay is PG-level, not course-only, so check the department before you join.
You need a hostel seat surety: the official course page lists day-scholar mode, so confirm rooms before paying.
You want a clear cutoff: the course has no public rank cutoff, so the interview carries real weight.
Your goal is only salary: this course points more to teaching, NGOs, research and interfaith work.
Counsellor's advice
Take this course if religion and research are your main goal. If you want placement certainty, ask the department for course-only outcomes first.

FAQs on Christ University MA Comparative Religion

Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.

Is MA Comparative Religion at Christ worth the fee?▾
Yes, if you want religion, philosophy or interfaith work and not only a campus job. The full fee without hostel is INR 1.68 Lakhs, which is low for a private deemed university. The published PG 2-year median pay is INR 8.96 LPA, but it is not course-only. Ask the department for recent course outcomes before you pay.
Should I take this course if I want a research career?▾
Yes, this course fits a research path better than a quick job path. It gives 2 years to study religion, theology, philosophy and research writing. Use the dissertation work to build a PhD topic. Before joining, ask which faculty member can guide your area of interest.
What job can I get after this course?▾
The clearest paths are teaching support, research, NGOs, interfaith work, publishing and higher studies. The page uses INR 8.96 LPA from the published PG 2-year file, but that is not a course-only pay figure. Treat placement as a bonus. Build writing, fieldwork and language skills from the first semester.
Who should skip this course at Christ?▾
Skip it if your main goal is a high-salary campus job. This course is academic and research led, and Christ does not publish a course-only placement table for it. You should also skip it if you need hostel surety before admission. Confirm rooms and course outcomes before paying the fee.
Is this course right for interfaith work?▾
Yes, this is one of the better reasons to take it. The course studies religion across traditions and sits in the Department of Philosophy and Theology. The central Bengaluru campus also helps with talks, NGOs and community work. Ask the department about fieldwork and dissertation topics before you join.
Should I pick this over MA Philosophy at Christ?▾
Pick MA Comparative Religion if your main interest is religion, theology and interfaith study. Pick MA Philosophy if your main interest is logic, ethics and philosophy as a wider subject. The fee and campus may feel close, so decide by the syllabus and the faculty area you want.
Is the fee worth it against the median pay?▾
It can be worth it because the fee without hostel is INR 1.68 Lakhs and the PG 2-year median pay printed here is INR 8.96 LPA. Still, that pay is not course-only. Use the ROI tile as a cost check, not as a job promise. Ask for recent alumni paths.
Do I need an entrance rank for this course?▾
No. Christ lists the process as application, assessment, interview, result and fee payment. There is no public rank cutoff for this MA course. Your written answers, presentation and interview matter more. Keep your degree papers ready and prepare a clear reason for choosing religion.
Can I get in if I am in the final year of my degree?▾
Yes, you can apply if your final result is ready before admission closes. The offer depends on the document check. If your university result may come late, ask the Admission Cell before paying the fee, because the seat can be held back until papers are complete.
Can I pay the fee in parts?▾
The official table shows the programme fee by year. For Other Indian States students it is INR 80,000 in year 1 and INR 80,000 in year 2, plus INR 8,000 registration fee. If you need a smaller payment plan, ask the fee office before the offer payment date.
Will hostel be sure for this course?▾
No hostel surety is printed on the course page. The programme mode is day scholar, and the hostel room pages say students must apply after confirming admission. If you are not from Bengaluru, check hostel and nearby room costs before paying the course fee.
What should I check before I join?▾
Check three things before you join: the course-only placement path, the faculty guide for your research area and the hostel or room cost. The fee is low at INR 1.68 Lakhs without hostel, but the right guide and living plan matter more for this course.

Does Christ University Bangalore offer placements for Law courses?

Vipul MishraLLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from Christ University (2016 - 2018 Batch)

SLCU Christ University is one of the best private Law colleges in India. SLCU Law ranking by IIRF is 16 out of 50 in India in 2024 and it was ranked #17 out of 70 by India Today in 2023.

I did my LLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from SLCU Christ University in 2018. I can say it is one of the top private universities to do LLM courses because of its education Quality, teaching methods, etc. SLCU offers decent placements with lucrative offers and high ROI. The Department has a seperate placement cells which guides and trains students for placements, how to face Group discussions for interviews, etc. Right from the final semester SLCU's active placement cells starts teaching students; how to sit for the interview, to talk and negotiate for high package, building an attractive CV, etc. The average CTC package when I completed my graduation at SLCU Christ University was between INR 4 - 7 LPA and for sure it is above INR 7 LPA these days. Luthra and Luthra, S&R Associates, Khaitan & Co., Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and AZB & Partners are some top recruiters in SLCU for LLM graduates.

Is pursuing LLM at School of Law, Christ University expensive?

Uttam KumarLLM from Christ University (2021 Batch)

Christ University has a separate school for its law course that is School of Law - Christ University. SLCU offers several Law courses at UG, PG, Diploma and Doctorate level. It offers 3 LLM courses at a fees Structure ranging between INR 1,50,000 - 2,50,000 based on LLM specializations.

Pursuing a LLM course from SLCU Christ University Bangalore at a fees of INR 2.50 Lakhs is not expensive as per my perspective. For financially weaker students, SLCU Christ University Bangalore also provides Education Loan and many scholarships. I myself was one such user to get Scholarships from Christ University. Scholarships at SLCU are offered based on academic results of a student during LLM course. When compared to other colleges offering LLM and the Education Quality and facilities offered at Christ University, fees is reasonable.

Can I pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA?

Rohan TiwariLLM from Christ University (2016 Batch)

No, you cannot pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA. My name is Rohan Tiwari. I have completed an LLM from Christ University. This is the same question that I had before.

Christ University, Bangalore offers different law courses including integrated LLB and LLM. School of love Christ University does not offer a direct LLB course. Candidates wishing to pursue LLB course must have to complete 10 + 2 or any Bachelors Degree for minimum 3 years. One cannot opt LLB without any prior Bachelor's degree. But if anyone likes to do only LLB then they have to spend 1 year extra which means that if someone has intentionally or unintentionally completed a 3-years degree course like BA, BCom, BBA, etc. then one can pursue a 3 years LLB course. So I have done BA Hons from Pune University but due to the transfer of my father, we relocated to Bangalore and later on I got interested in Law studies so I opted for a 3-years LLB course at Christ University. I spent 6-years for BA and LLB courses. So according to my experience it is better to pursue integrated LLB courses with BBA / BA or BCom, etc.

Shahzad KhanMBA Human Resources Management from Christ University (2017 - 2019 Batch)

As a Christ University student, I would like to answer this question for you.

I have completed an MBA in Human Resources Management from Christ University in 2019. As per my knowledge, experience plays an important role in MBA admission into any top College/ University like Christ.

MBA Admissions at Christ University are entrance-based. Aspirants must qualify an MBA entrance and face GD PI rounds to get admission. For some MBA specializations and Executive MBA, one may also be asked for a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in the relevant field.

After my bachelor's, I started working in a 4-star hotel and took a break from my studies. There I worked for 2 years and gained important knowledge and skills. I was given preference over other candidates because of my work experience.

This is how work experience plays a role in MBA admissions at Christ University.
