Three schemes cut this fee by INR 10,000 to INR 40,000 over the two years. The Karnataka post matric scholarship gives the most, as it pays the tuition fee for SC, ST and OBC-NCL students. Should you pick M.Sc Sustainable Development at Christ University?

This course suits students who want to work on climate, development and policy problems after a degree in any stream.

Pick it if:
You want a job in an NGO, a CSR team or a policy office: this course is built for development, research and welfare work.
You want to study in Bangalore: the city has many NGO offices, CSR teams and research groups, and the campus sits on Hosur Road.
You want to pick part of your own reading: the course has 13 core papers, 7 open electives and a dissertation at the end.
You can start early: Christ takes students in more than one selection round, and the first round is expected in Dec 2026.
Skip it if:

Counsellor's advice
If you want a development or policy job and can study in Bangalore, take this seat. If you want a corporate campus job, keep a management course above it in your list.

Will your marks get you a seat in M.Sc Sustainable Development at Christ University?

Pick your degree marks and your work experience. Christ publishes a 50% rule, not a closing score, so these cards say how far the published rule takes you.

Your degree marks
Your work experience
50% to 59% · no work experience
You clear the 50% rule, but only just. Your degree marks count in the final list, so the entrance test, the micro presentation and the interview have to carry you. Book the first selection round, when every seat is still open.
50% to 59% · one year or more
You clear the 50% rule, and Christ prefers students who have worked. Build your micro presentation on what you did at work, because your degree marks are the weak part of your file.
60% to 74% · no work experience
You are past the 50% rule with room to spare. The seat still turns on the entrance test, the skill assessment, the micro presentation and the interview. Read one sustainability report before the round, so your talk has a real example in it.
60% to 74% · one year or more
You are past the 50% rule and you have the work experience Christ prefers. Put your field or office work in the form, and use it in the micro presentation and the interview.
75% and above · no work experience
You are well past the 50% rule, and your degree marks are the strong part of your file. Christ still decides the seat in the selection round, so book an early date and prepare a short talk on a development problem you know.
75% and above · one year or more
You are well past the 50% rule and you have work experience, which Christ prefers. This is the strongest file this course reads. Apply in the first round and ask about the merit scholarship when the offer comes.
EDITOR'S NOTE

Christ does not publish a closing score for this course, so no one can promise you a seat on marks alone. The selection round decides it, and seats go round by round, so the earliest round is the safest one to book.

FAQs on Christ University M.Sc Sustainable Development

Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.

Is M.Sc Sustainable Development at Christ University worth the fee?
Yes, for most students who want development work. The full course fee is INR 45,000 for two years, which is low for a private university, and NIRF data puts the median pay for CHRIST PG students at INR 6.98 LPA. For most students the fee comes back inside the first working year. Check the hostel cost too, because a room and mess cost more than the course itself.
What job will I get after this course?
Most students go into development and research work: NGOs, CSR teams, research groups and government projects. CHRIST does not publish a pay figure for this course alone, so use the university median of INR 6.98 LPA as a rough guide. If you want a corporate campus job, this is not the course that leads there.
Who should not take this course here?
Skip it if you want a big campus hiring drive or a fixed pay figure before you join. Most CHRIST recruiters hire for commerce and management roles, and the university publishes no pay for this course on its own. Skip it also if you cannot pay the fee within five working days of the offer, because the seat then goes to someone else.
Is this course good for higher studies or research?
Yes. The course carries 80 credits and ends with a dissertation, so you finish with one full research project of your own. A PhD application reads that project first. Pick your open electives and your guide with the doctorate in mind from the first year.
Should I take this course if my degree is in commerce or arts?
Yes. CHRIST asks for a bachelor's degree in any stream with 50% marks in total, and the class is built to mix streams. You read economics, policy and environment papers together, so a science degree is not needed. Read the first year paper list before you apply, so the reading load does not surprise you.
Is the pay worth two years of study?
It depends on the job you want. The fee is INR 45,000, so even an entry level pay in the development sector covers it fast. The CHRIST median of INR 6.98 LPA covers all PG courses, and development jobs usually start below that. Ask the department for the last batch's job list before you decide.
Should I pick this course over MSW at Christ University?
Pick this one if you want policy, climate and research work. Pick MSW if you want field social work and case work with people. Both take a degree in any stream and both sit in the School of Social Sciences. Read the paper lists of the two courses side by side before you choose.
Will I get placed through the campus drive?
Some students do, but do not count on it for this subject. CHRIST placed 3,683 PG students in 2025, and most of those offers came from commerce and management recruiters. For development work, students usually apply to NGOs and research groups on their own. Build your own list of employers in the first year and use the dissertation to reach them.
How do I get admission to this course?
You apply on the CHRIST portal, pay the application fee and book a selection date. You then sit the entrance test, a skill assessment, a micro presentation and a personal interview. The offer comes on the applicant portal, and you pay the course fee within five working days. Miss that date and you lose the seat.
What is the full cost of the course?
The course fee is INR 45,000 for two years: INR 40,000 of tuition and a one time registration fee of INR 5,000. With a hostel room and the mess the full cost is INR 2.60 Lakhs. The hostel fee pays for the room only, so the mess is charged on top. The fee block above shows both totals.
Can a scholarship cover the whole fee?
It can, for some students. The Karnataka post matric scholarship pays the tuition fee for SC, ST and OBC-NCL students from the state, which is INR 40,000 over the course. The CHRIST merit scholarship takes 25% off the tuition fee, and the financial assistance scheme needs an income certificate. Use the calculator above for your own answers.
Do I need work experience to get a seat?
No, it is not compulsory. CHRIST says it prefers students who have worked, so experience helps in the interview and in the final list. Freshers are taken every year. If you have worked with an NGO or on a field project, put it in your form and talk about it in the interview.
Is the hostel worth taking?
Take it for the first year if you are new to Bangalore. A room starts at INR 59,280 a year and the mess is charged on top at about INR 4,800 a month, which together cost more than the course fee. Rooms are limited, so ask for one as soon as you take the seat.

Does Christ University Bangalore offer placements for Law courses?

Vipul MishraLLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from Christ University (2016 - 2018 Batch)

SLCU Christ University is one of the best private Law colleges in India. SLCU Law ranking by IIRF is 16 out of 50 in India in 2024 and it was ranked #17 out of 70 by India Today in 2023.

I did my LLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law from SLCU Christ University in 2018. I can say it is one of the top private universities to do LLM courses because of its education Quality, teaching methods, etc. SLCU offers decent placements with lucrative offers and high ROI. The Department has a seperate placement cells which guides and trains students for placements, how to face Group discussions for interviews, etc. Right from the final semester SLCU's active placement cells starts teaching students; how to sit for the interview, to talk and negotiate for high package, building an attractive CV, etc. The average CTC package when I completed my graduation at SLCU Christ University was between INR 4 - 7 LPA and for sure it is above INR 7 LPA these days. Luthra and Luthra, S&R Associates, Khaitan & Co., Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and AZB & Partners are some top recruiters in SLCU for LLM graduates.

Is pursuing LLM at School of Law, Christ University expensive?

Pursuing a LLM course from SLCU Christ University Bangalore at a fees of INR 2.50 Lakhs is not expensive as per my perspective. For financially weaker students, SLCU Christ University Bangalore also provides Education Loan and many scholarships. I myself was one such user to get Scholarships from Christ University. Scholarships at SLCU are offered based on academic results of a student during LLM course. When compared to other colleges offering LLM and the Education Quality and facilities offered at Christ University, fees is reasonable.

Can I pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA?

Rohan TiwariLLM from Christ University (2016 Batch)

No, you cannot pursue LLB from Christ University without BBA or BA. My name is Rohan Tiwari. I have completed an LLM from Christ University. This is the same question that I had before.

Christ University, Bangalore offers different law courses including integrated LLB and LLM. School of love Christ University does not offer a direct LLB course. Candidates wishing to pursue LLB course must have to complete 10 + 2 or any Bachelors Degree for minimum 3 years. One cannot opt LLB without any prior Bachelor's degree. But if anyone likes to do only LLB then they have to spend 1 year extra which means that if someone has intentionally or unintentionally completed a 3-years degree course like BA, BCom, BBA, etc. then one can pursue a 3 years LLB course. So I have done BA Hons from Pune University but due to the transfer of my father, we relocated to Bangalore and later on I got interested in Law studies so I opted for a 3-years LLB course at Christ University. I spent 6-years for BA and LLB courses. So according to my experience it is better to pursue integrated LLB courses with BBA / BA or BCom, etc.

First of all, candidates who wish to get admission into Christ University must be well acquainted with the eligibility criteria set by the University for MBA admission. Aspirants must complete a Bachelor's degree in any stream with a minimum aggregate of 60%. In addition to that, they must qualify MAT / CAT / CMAT / XAT / GMAT / GRE / ATMA. Finally, shortlisted candidates are called for GD/ PI and document verification.

You are eligible for MBA admissions at Christ University Bangalore with a Bachelor’s in any stream, as long as you fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria.

Do I need Work Experience to be selected by Christ University for an MBA?

Shahzad KhanMBA Human Resources Management from Christ University (2017 - 2019 Batch)

As a Christ University student, I would like to answer this question for you.

I have completed an MBA in Human Resources Management from Christ University in 2019. As per my knowledge, experience plays an important role in MBA admission into any top College/ University like Christ.

MBA Admissions at Christ University are entrance-based. Aspirants must qualify an MBA entrance and face GD PI rounds to get admission. For some MBA specializations and Executive MBA, one may also be asked for a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in the relevant field.

After my bachelor's, I started working in a 4-star hotel and took a break from my studies. There I worked for 2 years and gained important knowledge and skills. I was given preference over other candidates because of my work experience.

This is how work experience plays a role in MBA admissions at Christ University.
