KIIT Placement FAQs

Ques. Is KIIT good for CSE placements in 2026?

Ans. KIIT offers decent placement opportunities for CSE students in 2026, with participation from top recruiters as well as mass hiring companies. Students with strong coding skills, projects, and internships can secure good offers, but competition is high due to the large intake. Overall, it is a good option for CSE placements if you stay consistent with skill development.

Ques. What is the minimum CGPA required for placements at KIIT?

Ans. Most companies at KIIT generally require a minimum CGPA of around 6.0 to 7.0. However, a higher CGPA increases your chances of getting shortlisted for better companies and roles. Some top or product-based companies may have stricter academic cutoffs.

Ques. Does KIIT provide internship support, or do students find it on their own?

Ans. KIIT does provide internship opportunities through on-campus drives, but many students also secure internships off-campus. Students often rely on coding platforms, referrals, and personal networking to get better opportunities. Both college support and individual effort matter.

Ques. Which branch has the best placement at KIIT?

Ans. The School of Technology, especially CSE, IT, and related branches, has the best placement opportunities at KIIT. These branches receive the highest number of recruiters and offer better salary packages compared to other streams.

Ques. Is KIIT better than VIT or SRM for placements?

Ans. KIIT, VIT, and SRM are all comparable private universities in terms of placements. KIIT is known for strong infrastructure and good recruiter participation, while VIT often has slightly better tech-oriented opportunities. However, in all three colleges, placement outcomes mainly depend on the student’s skills and preparation rather than the institute alone.

Ques. Does the branch matter a lot for placements at KIIT?

Ans. Yeah, the KIIT branch plays a pretty big role. CSE, IT, and sometimes ECE students get the majority of good opportunities. If you’re from core branches like Mechanical or Civil, placements are more limited, and a lot of students shift toward IT roles anyway. I’ve seen people from non-CS branches grind DSA and coding just to sit for tech placements at KIIT, so it’s doable, but you’ll have to put in extra effort.

Ques. How is the placement process and competition at KIIT? Is it too crowded?

Ans. KIIT has a huge batch size, so competition is definitely intense. You’ll be competing with hundreds of students for the same role. The placement process at KIIT usually involves aptitude tests, coding rounds, and interviews, but the real challenge is shortlisting many students who don't even clear the first round due to high cutoffs. What helps is starting prep early (2nd year ideally) because by final year, everyone is already grinding hard.

Which is better in terms of placements KIIT SRM or UPES?

Sayantani Barman
Akriti Banerjeelives in New Delhi

KIIT, SRM, and UPES are some of the best private colleges in India. Placement statistics change for every college according to year and branch. I am a B.Tech CSE student and therefore, my answer will talk especially about the CSE branch.

In KIIT, around 90% of the students get placed as the placement season starts. Companies mostly require a 6-6.5 CGPA and the cutoffs can go to maximum 7.5 CGPA for some companies. A 6-pointer may end up with a better job than a 9-pointer because of skills. The placement scenario is good.

KIIT is better among the three for placements because it has an E-cell or Entrepreneurship Cell which is not present in the other two colleges. Over there, an internship camp is organized in which the students can get an internship in their field of interest, in different companies.

SRM- In SRM, there is a system of mass recruitment and most students get placed. Mass recruitment companies recruit students in large numbers with an average package of around INR 4.5 LPA. If you study hard, practice coding, are strong in aptitude, database, etc., you can get a package of INR 5-6LPA.

UPES-  CSE branch, the placement percentage is around 90%.  However, the number of companies that visit UPES is limited. IBM is a big company and offers the maximum placements. Amazon, Wipro, Dell, Flipkart, and others also visit the campus for placements.

Thus, because of its Entrepreneurship Cell and Internship camp, I would suggest that KIIT has the best placements out of the three. However, placements at SRM and UPES are also quite good and the placement figures for all three are at par.

What were the CGPA requirements for placements in KIIT?

Srijita ChowdhuryB.Tech from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT)

There are two aspects to your placements, whether you are concerned just about the immediate packages or if you are concerned about the long-term career prospects.

As far as only the packages are concerned, CGPA matters only in some of Companies. To stay on the safe side, try scoring between 6.5–7.0. The reason CGPA is considered for shortlisting is because of the huge batch size. Usually, students scoring less than 8.5 don’t clear these interviews. Apart from CGPA, you will have to convince the recruiter that you are a suitable candidate for the job through your communication skills and knowledge.

For your career prospects, CGPA alone is never enough. For some the placement drives are excellent opportunities while for some they are horror. However, when your career is concerned placements are not the only thing that can help you. So it’s better to not get overwhelmed. I know someone who failed to get placed in KIIT and ended up with the highest package in off-campus placements. If you want a bright career, try focusing on your passion rather than placements. Do something you absolutely love and success will find you one day.

Which B.Tech Branch is the best at KIIT Bhubhaneswar in terms of faculty and placements?

Ishani BandyopadhyayStudied at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology

If you are enquiring In terms of placements then obviously CS is the best BTech branch not only in KIIT Bhubaneswar but in every engineering college.

Out of the total recruiters, the majority seek only CS students so their placement opportunities are clearly better than students of other branches. This is exactly why many students of core branches learn coding to apply for CA companies.

Other branches that are good options include ETC Mech automobile, IT, etc. However, ETC has tough core subjects like AEC and SD in the second year that might affect your CGPA.

My personal opinion would be to give maximum preference to CS. For this, you need to study hard and work on your coding skills and you will get a job that will help you replay the money you have spent.

Generally, with the right mindset and hard work, every branch has its own benefits and it’s a matter of personal preferences.

Is it really true that KIIT University provides 89.9% placement since last 3-4 years?

Sachin Gupta
Ananya DasguptaStudied at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT)

Yes, it's kind of true that KIIT University has been recording excellent placement percentages over the last few years. This year it recorded 90% placements while last year it recorded 92% placements.

KIIT University has a very dedicated T and P Cell that is well aware that placement is the main criterion to analyze the college's worth. It works relentlessly throughout the year with HRs of different companies at different levels. Whenever a mass-recruiting company is planning to visit, thorough placement training takes place.

Here is what the placements at KIIT look like

  • The training for placements starts as early as the second year for BTech students. The third year is more intense training while in the 4th year, placements are given importance to academics.
  • Trainers conduct the Pre-placement Training on the basis of previous year papers and technical interview questions.
  • HR training is carried out by private companies/ Career Advisory & Augmentation Services (CAAS).
  • Mock interviews and mock-GDs are conducted to ensure students' dedication to placements.
  • The students are taught about everything regarding placements from pin to plane.

KIIT has managed to maintain a good placement scenario thanks to the relentless efforts of the T and P cell. The efforts are reflected in the following statistics:
