BHU B.Ed FAQs

Ques. Does BHU B.Ed in Special Education lead to RCI registration?

Ans. Yes. BHU B.Ed Special Education programs are run in compliance with the Rehabilitation Council of India Act 1992. Graduates from these specializations are eligible to apply for RCI registration as special educators, which is the mandatory credential to work professionally in recognized special schools and rehabilitation centers across India. The Faculty of Education submits annual returns to RCI for program recognition renewal.

Ques. Can BHU B.Ed graduates appear for both CTET and state TET exams?

Ans. Yes. A 2-year B.Ed from a NCTE-recognized institution, including BHU’s Faculty of Education, satisfies the minimum teacher qualification for appearing in CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) for Class 6 to 8 teaching in central schools and for most state TET exams for Class 6 to 12. Candidates should verify the specific qualifying degree subject combination requirement of their target state TET authority as requirements vary by state.

Ques. What is the difference between B.Ed (Special Education) and B.Ed (Special Education) (Hearing Impairment) at BHU?

Ans. The general B.Ed (Special Education) at BHU provides a broad foundation across multiple disability categories and is typically intended for teachers who will work in multi-disability classrooms. The disability-specific specializations such as Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, Languages, Mathematics, Sciences, and Social Sciences are narrower programs focused on a single disability category combined with a subject domain. Graduates of these narrower programs are more directly eligible for posts in disability-specific schools and rehabilitation-linked institutions.

Ques. What careers do BHU B.Ed graduates commonly pursue?

Ans. BHU B.Ed graduates enter government school teaching after qualifying CTET and state TET. A significant proportion appear for KVS, NVS, and Sainik School recruitment exams, where a B.Ed from a recognized university is mandatory. Those from Special Education specializations target posts in state-sponsored special schools and RCI-recognized centers. Some graduates pursue M.Ed for academic or educational administration careers. Private school placements and international school roles are less structured but available through individual applications.

Ques. Is BHU B.Ed recognized by NCTE for government school teacher eligibility nationwide?

Ans. Yes. The Faculty of Education at Banaras Hindu University is a recognized teacher education institution under the National Council for Teacher Education. The B.Ed programs are listed in the NCTE approved institutions database. Graduates hold a valid B.Ed credential recognized across all states for teacher eligibility test registration and government school appointment purposes. Candidates should retain their degree certificate and NCTE recognition letter from BHU for use in employment applications.
