Ques. Which is the better choice for a BA LLB, Jamia, BHU, or AMU?

● Top Answer By Sudeshna Sen on 01 Mar 21

Ans. There are a few law colleges that have been tagged as the “traditional law universities” due to their long history & renowned law faculties. The colleges which fall under this category are- AMU, Jamia, BHU, and GLC Mumbai & DU. although, the reputation of NLUs and their performance can never be surpassed by the above-mentioned law colleges. These universities are well-known & have great faculty that comprises jurists, lawyers, & academicians but their growth rate is slow. They have been able to walk parallel with the changing scenarios in the field of law, including a major deviation from the corporate law field. You need to make the decision about college by keeping in mind what you want to do in the future. In that, the discussion below can be helpful.  Aligarh Muslim University: Recently, AMU is in the limelight due to the high selection rate of its students in the judicial services examination. Also, AMU produces academically high qualified students. The number of people from AMU who have traveled abroad for an LLM degree is less, but nevertheless, it’s an achievement that can't be ignored. There is no placement cell at AMU faculty, which limits the internship opportunities. Since AMU is close to Delhi it makes it convenient for the students to seek internships outside the campus. AMU focuses more on acquiring core law knowledge. This might not be of much help when it comes to practical law (Litigation). However, the competitive environment on the campus helps in clearing competitive exams like judiciary exams, DJs, UPPCSJ. At the end of the day, one needs to decide what they want to do, likewise, choose the kind of knowledge they need. The atmosphere of AMU is not conducive for growth unless the student takes the imitative on its own. The student has to look for internships by themselves without being dependent on the college. Jamia Milia University: There are certain similarities between Jamia and AMU, except for the location. Jamia is located right in the heart of Delhi, thus making it easier for internship opportunities for students. Delhi is a place in terms of developing a legal perspective, therefore widening the exposure of students. The culture of Jamia, along with the enthusiasm for internships is quite lively. Jamia, like AMU, doesn’t have a placement cell on campus. Thus, restricting the job opportunities from the corporate sector of law. BHU: BHU has a placement cell for its students. BHU has kept up with the upcoming trends. A proof of this is the introduction of a 1 year LLM course. This hasn’t been adopted by the other two colleges yet. So, keep these things in mind and decide for yourself.Read more

Ques. Are BHU and IIT BHU the same institute ?

● Top Answer By Anil Tigga on 14 Aug 20

Ans. No, BHU and IIT BHU are not the same institutes. Previously IIT BHU used to be a part of BHU and even after it became IIT, it still shares the same campus but IIT BHU is an autonomous institute. To go into detail, BHU stands for the Banaras Hindu University. Clearly, as the name suggests it's a University that comprises 6 institutes, 14 faculties(streams), and 140 departments. It has over 75 hostels for the resident students. The well-known institutes include Indian Institute of Technology(IIT BHU), Institute of Medical Sciences(IMS BHU), Institute of Agricultural Sciences(IAS BHU), Institute of Science(I.Sc. BHU), Institute of Management Studies(IMSt.-BHU) and Institute of Environmental and Sustainable Development(IESD BHU). The faculties are as diverse as Faculty of Law(FL-BHU), Faculty of Arts(FA-BHU), Faculty of Performing Arts(FPA-BHU) and Faculty of Commerce, etc. The departments are really diverse as well; the Department of Journalism, Department of Linguistics, Department of Mass Communication to name a few.  It is a well-known fact that there is no other university in the country that offers as many courses as the Banaras Hindu University does.  On the other hand, IIT BHU is the Engineering institute. It was formerly known as IT(Institute of Technology) BHU. It was designated the tag of an IIT in the year of 2012. The admission to IIT BHU is based on the JEE(Advanced). The institute has 11 Engineering departments, 3 dedicated Science departments, 3 Schools and a Humanities department. It offers courses across undergraduate and postgraduate streams. IIT(BHU) is known for offering very diverse UG and PG programs. For example, it is the only premier institute in the country to offer courses in Ceramics Engineering.Read more

    Remarks :

The admission process starts after some time of result declaration of NEET, the month of August (probably). On the day of counselling, I reached the academics section of IMS, the building was good and the employees present were all professionals and everything went well. Only the last process of the counselling session, that is when medical was to do, we got exhausted, the process was immensely tedious, and we all got tired. Reasons for choosing the institutions:- It is a central university, leading to good maintenance of college premises and discipline. This institution approaches modern and ayurvedic pathies equally, the foremost reason to choose. Good stipend after graduation and immense intelligent faculty. The natural environment gives you aesthetic pleasure. Reas of preferring over others:- one of the best institution for ayurvedic studies. The highest stipend in the whole country ( ~24000 in UG;~ 92000 in PG). One should definitely apply to BHU if he/she wants to study Ayurveda.

The university has been approved by both AIU & UGC and has also been accredited by NAAC. Admissions to the MBA program in BHU are provided on the basis score in CAT/BHU PET exam, followed by PI/GD.

    Remarks :

According to NIRF Ranking, Banaras Hindu University is the top 3rd ranking university in India. The quality of education is very good. All staffs and faculties are very helpful for students and there is no corruption in the university. The email system of the university is very responsive, sometimes it may take some days to become reply, due to workload. Sometimes the Administration of the university becomes very bad and ignores the well-being of students because of government pressure. Generally, the university takes application in March-April and PET entrance in May-June to take admission but in the pandemic, it took 2-3 months late. Because the success rate and educational quality are very good, the staffs, faculties, and administration are supportive, so it should be preferable. I got the notification from my friends and applied but there are many youtube channels like BHU World, BHU Mahamana, BHU Capital, etc from here you may get notifications.

    Remarks :

I have chosen this course in BHU because the placement is far better in BHU as compared to other ICAR colleges. But the placement is less than the colleges which we get from CAT, CMAT, or other management entrance examinations. But this college can provide a reliable base for students as we get enough at this prize because there are huge charges for MBA in other colleges but in BHU, it is quite low. We can avail of this course through the BHU MBA- Agribusiness entrance exam for which form is released from February to March.

    Remarks :

BHU, as the name says. One does not need to think a lot to decide whether he/she wants to get admitted here or not. One is going to get knowledge from all four sides here. Apart from academics, he/she will develop himself/herself in sports, culture and communication etc. This place will make one understand society and the world. The admission process here is quite simple. Submit the application form on https://www.bhuonline.in/ (most probably February-March), appear in the entrance exam, score as much as possible, if you are selected in the merit list, you'll get an email (the call letter) regarding the counselling and after that, you're in.

    Remarks :

Banaras Hindu University is a reputed central university. The campus of BHU is the huge and best place to spent your 5 year law course. Pros- Freedom of thought as you are not burdened with so much workload college life is chill. Semester exams are too easy to fail. Professors are experienced and qualified they can give you the best content Hostel life is different for boys and girls. Boys have full freedom to explore. Hardly any rules are imposed. You will learn a lot more in the hostel about people and life. Cons- There is hardly any focus on extracurricular activities students have to take all the initiative. Professors are of a traditional mindset. BLAT entrance is conducted generally in May and most probably the new semester begins in July- august. Believe it or not, you will curse the place in the beginning but cry and miss this place forever. There is something about this place. You will have ample time for the experiment but you have to take the initiative to search for things. BHU IS LOVE ??
