BHU PGD Panchakarma FAQs
Ques. Is AIAPGET mandatory for admission to PGD Panchakarma at BHU, or can I apply directly?
Ans. AIAPGET is mandatory for admission to the PGD Panchakarma at BHU. The SCS Bulletin 2024 clearly states that admission to Ayurveda PG Diploma courses at BHU's Faculty of Ayurveda is based on AIAPGET merit. You must first appear in AIAPGET, then separately apply on BHU's SCS portal (bhuonline.in) and submit your AIAPGET score/registration number to the department.
Ques. I have completed my BAMS internship but my registration with CCIM is still pending. Am I eligible to apply?
Ans. You must have permanent registration with CCIM or any State Medical Council/Board at the time of admission. Provisional registration may be accepted at the application stage, but permanent registration is required before final admission. It is advisable to complete your CCIM registration before applying to avoid disqualification at the counselling stage.
Ques. What is the actual workload of the PGD Panchakarma course at BHU? Is it purely clinical or does it involve theory as well?
Ans. The 2-year PGD Panchakarma at BHU is a full-time programme that involves both theoretical and clinical components. Students are trained in classical Panchakarma procedures including Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya, and Raktamokshana, along with their Ayurvedic pharmacological basis. Clinical training is conducted at the Panchakarma OPD and IPD of the Ayurveda Wing of Sir Sunderlal Hospital, BHU, which sees a large patient load from across eastern India.
Ques. With only 7 seats, how competitive is the admission process? What AIAPGET rank is typically required?
Ans. With just 7 seats, the PGD Panchakarma at BHU is among the most competitive Ayurveda PG Diploma programmes in India. While official cutoff data is not published, given BHU's reputation, candidates with a strong AIAPGET rank (typically within the top 100-200 in the Ayurveda category) are more likely to secure admission. SC/ST/OBC candidates have reserved seats as per government norms (15% SC, 7.5% ST, 27% OBC).
Ques. Can I pursue this course while working part-time at a clinic or hospital?
Ans. No. The PGD Panchakarma at BHU is a full-time on-campus programme. Students are required to attend regular classes, clinical postings, and practical sessions at the Panchakarma department. Part-time work alongside this programme is not feasible given the full-time nature of the course and the clinical training requirements.
Ques. What are the career prospects after completing PGD Panchakarma from BHU? Is it recognised for government jobs?
Ans. A PGD Panchakarma from BHU is well-recognised and opens doors to careers as a Panchakarma specialist in AYUSH government hospitals, private Ayurveda clinics, wellness resorts, and academic institutions. The AYUSH Ministry actively recruits Panchakarma specialists for government hospitals and wellness centres under the National AYUSH Mission. Internationally, there is growing demand for qualified Panchakarma practitioners in countries like Germany, the USA, and the UAE. The BHU credential adds significant value to your profile in both domestic and international job markets.
