- Class 12 academic: 70% to 85% aggregate depending on programme (recommended).
- English test: TOEFL iBT 75 or IELTS 6.0 overall; conditional admission available via CU Denver’s ESL Academy.
- Application fee: $75 (₹ 7,181), non-refundable.

University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus Acceptance Rate 2027
The undergraduate acceptance rate at CU Denver sits at 75%, positioning the university as a moderately selective public research institution. Graduate admission is programme-driven and often more competitive, especially for STEM masters and Anschutz health sciences.
| Year | Acceptance Rate | Trend |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 75% | Stable |
| 2024 | 74% (estimated) | Stable |
An Indian applicant with a strong bachelor’s, TOEFL above 90 and clean transcripts stands a fair chance at general CU Denver PG programmes. Nursing, Physical Therapy and Anschutz PhD tracks operate on cohort-limited admission and require early submissions.
Reality check: Meeting the minimum score is not enough for MS Business Analytics or MS Computer Science; the departments read for research alignment and coding depth, so drafting a specific statement of purpose matters.

University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus vs Peer Universities
The peer set below compares CU Denver against similarly sized US public research universities that draw Indian STEM and health science applicants.
| University | QS World Rank 2027 | Avg Annual PG Fee (USD) | Avg Annual PG Fee (INR lakh) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus | #851-900 | $29,000 (estimated) | ₹ 27.8 lakh (estimated) | R1 research with Anschutz health sciences depth |
| University of Colorado Boulder | #215 (estimated) | $36,000 (estimated) | ₹ 34.5 lakh (estimated) | Higher research prestige and aerospace strength |
| University of Denver | #601-650 (estimated) | $55,000 (estimated) | ₹ 52.7 lakh (estimated) | Private, smaller class sizes and Daniels Business School |
| Colorado State University | #521-530 (estimated) | $30,000 (estimated) | ₹ 28.7 lakh (estimated) | Agriculture, veterinary and land-grant research base |
| University of Texas at Arlington | #601-650 (estimated) | $27,000 (estimated) | ₹ 25.9 lakh (estimated) | Comparable Indian community, Dallas metro placement flow |
CU Denver stands out on health sciences and STEM depth relative to peer public universities in the same tuition band. Its Anschutz research base is the differentiator that Colorado State and UT Arlington cannot match.
CU Denver fits Indian students seeking a STEM masters or health sciences pathway at an R1 university without paying private-university tuition. Total investment for a two-year MS lands between ₹ 60 lakh and ₹ 75 lakh against a median first-job salary of ₹ 71 lakh, giving a payback window inside the 36-month STEM OPT window.
The university is not the right fit for students chasing top-100 QS branding or Ivy-league recruiter pipelines; a peer choice like MBA universities in USA such as UT Austin or Purdue offers stronger ranking prestige for the same effort.
University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus FAQs
Ques. Which English-taught PG programmes at CU Denver are STEM-designated for Indian students?
Ans. CU Denver publishes 57 STEM-designated masters programmes that make graduates eligible for the 36-month OPT extension. The list spans MS Computer Science, MS Business Analytics, MS Data Science, MS Electrical Engineering, MS Bioengineering, MS Information Systems and MS Health Informatics. Indian students should confirm the STEM designation on the specific programme page before applying, since some concentrations within a broader MS are not STEM-tagged.
Ques. How many hours can Indian students work on-campus at University of Colorado Denver?
Ans. F-1 international students at CU Denver can work up to 20 hours per week on-campus during Fall and Spring semesters and up to 40 hours during official university breaks. On-campus roles are posted through Handshake and cover library assistant, research assistant and teaching assistant openings. Off-campus employment is restricted to CPT and OPT, both of which require prior authorisation from the CU Denver Office of International Affairs.
Ques. Can Indian applicants get a GRE or GMAT waiver at CU Denver?
Ans. Yes, many CU Denver PG programmes waive the GRE or GMAT for candidates with strong academics or relevant work experience. MS Business Analytics, MS Information Systems and most Engineering masters routinely waive the GRE for CGPA 7.0 and above. The MBA waives GMAT for applicants with 5 years of professional experience. Waivers are department-driven, so applicants should email the graduate coordinator with transcripts and CV.
Ques. Does University of Colorado Denver accept the medium-of-instruction letter for IELTS waiver?
Ans. Some CU Denver programmes accept a medium-of-instruction letter from Indian universities where the bachelor’s was fully taught in English. The letter must be on university letterhead and signed by the registrar or dean. Not every school accepts it, so applicants should confirm with the target department. Graduate School of Public Affairs and School of Education routinely accept MOI letters, while STEM programmes at Anschutz often insist on a scored English test.
Ques. What is the CU Denver application fee for Indian applicants and can it be waived?
Ans. The international application fee is $75 (₹ 7,181) for both UG and PG programmes, non-refundable once submitted. CU Denver waives the fee for applicants who attend an official CU Denver recruitment event in India or apply through a partner counselling programme. Fee waivers are not offered on financial hardship grounds for international applicants, so Indian students should factor this into the application budget.
Ques. Which Indian banks offer education loans recognised by CU Denver for I-20 issuance?
Ans. SBI, HDFC Credila, Axis, ICICI and Avanse routinely issue education loans that CU Denver accepts as proof of funds for the I-20. The loan sanction letter must clearly state the disbursement covers tuition and one year of living expenses at Denver rates. Non-collateral loans up to ₹ 50 lakh are available from HDFC Credila and Avanse for CU Denver programmes because the university sits inside their approved US public research list.
Ques. Can Indian students bring dependents to Denver on an F-2 visa during study?
Ans. Yes, Indian F-1 students at CU Denver can bring spouses and children under 21 on the F-2 dependent visa. CU Denver’s Office of International Affairs issues a dependent I-20 after the student submits proof of additional funds, roughly $8,000 per year for a spouse and $5,000 per child. F-2 dependents cannot work in the US but can enrol in K-12 schools and take part-time non-degree courses at CU Denver.
Ques. How does the WES credential evaluation work for CU Denver Indian applicants?
Ans. CU Denver requires a WES ICAP course-by-course evaluation for all Indian PG applicants. The process starts with the Indian university sending sealed official transcripts and marksheets directly to WES in a signed and stamped envelope. Turnaround is typically 7 to 15 business days after WES receives complete documents. Indian applicants should start the process 8 to 10 weeks before the CU Denver programme deadline to avoid submission gaps.

- College Reputation and the degree earned from this college is more valuable.
- College Program and Academics( stress free) The method of teaching is completely different. The student can immerse himself without more strees. The programs qre very convenient as the student can opt for his own interested courses.
Dislikes
- There are some of the are areas especially some of the courses does not have in depth concepts. I felt like it would be great of we had more in depth concepts. It ks jot in all the subjects just 1 or 2.
Overview
Wonderful experience with in depth learning in our concentration. Exposure to different kind of people. Getting to know how the things are going outside our world. In simple it will be a global exposure as we will be seeing different kinds of people from all over the world. It will be some difficult in the initial days but the things will get better when the days are passing. You will learn a lot.
Campus Life
Campus is wonderful and have all facilities which are required for students.
Overview
I got in-state tuition, which was the biggest factor in my choice. They have a really good program for nursing students, which is my ultimate goal as a student. It was also close to home, but still far enough away for me to have a new experience.
Fees
The structure of the fees is somewhat ridiculous. We are required to pay fees for certain things that are unnecessary such as a sports facility and bus passes, even if you don't use these amenities.

A three-year bachelor's degree can be relevant depending on the field and employer requirements. It may offer valuable skills and knowledge, especially in specialized areas, but some industries prefer or require a four-year degree.
The undergraduate application deadline for the Fall 2023 intake of the University of Colorado is July 31, 2023. However, the application deadline for graduate admission differs.
