University of Notre Dame Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Notre Dame reviews Indian applicants holistically, but published academic and language floors must be cleared before any file moves to committee.

PG Requirements

  • Academic: Four-year Bachelor’s with 60% or CGPA 6.0/10 (recommended); Mendoza favours 70% and above
  • English: Verify at the official Notre Dame Graduate School language page (TOEFL iBT and IELTS minimums are set programme-by-programme)
  • Standardised tests: GMAT or GRE required for Mendoza MBA and MS programmes; GRE required for most engineering MS
  • Credentials: WES course-by-course evaluation of all transcripts

UG Requirements

  • Academic: Class 12 with 85% to 95% aggregate (recommended); CBSE, ISC, and state boards accepted
  • English: TOEFL, IELTS, or DET required; verify current minimums at the Notre Dame Office of Undergraduate Admissions page

Key insight: Notre Dame is need-aware for international undergraduates, which means a stated financial need can affect the admit decision. Indian families should model full-cost affordability before applying.

University of Notre Dame Acceptance Rate 2027

The University of Notre Dame reported an undergraduate first-year acceptance rate of 12% for the Fall 2025 cohort, one of the tightest among US Catholic research universities. The source is the university’s official Common Data Set.

Indian applicants sit inside the international sub-pool, which historically admits at a lower rate than domestic applicants at Notre Dame. Graduate acceptance rates vary sharply by programme and are not centrally disclosed.

Reality check: A 12% headline rate leaves little room for average files. Indian applicants need a differentiated academic record plus one distinctive extracurricular thread; a strong SAT even under a test-optional policy still helps.

University of Notre Dame Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

Notre Dame reports strong employment outcomes across Mendoza and the College of Engineering, with the university career centre coordinating campus recruiting for both undergraduate and graduate cohorts.

  • Mendoza MBA median starting salary: USD 165,000 (INR 145.2 lakh) plus median signing bonus USD 30,000 as per Mendoza Employment Report 2024
  • Mendoza MBA employment at 3 months: 92% of the Class of 2024
  • Undergraduate median starting salary: USD 75,000 (INR 66 lakh, market estimate)
  • Top hiring sectors: Consulting, financial services, technology, energy; specific recruiter list not centrally disclosed for international students

Insider note: Indian graduates in STEM-designated MS programmes get 36 months of OPT, which is the primary window to secure H-1B sponsorship. Non-STEM MBA graduates work on the 12-month OPT and depend heavily on employer sponsorship policies.

University of Notre Dame vs Peer Universities

Indian applicants weighing Notre Dame typically compare it with other US private research universities in a similar tuition and rank band.

UniversityQS World 2027Collegedunia Study Abroad 2026Avg Annual PG Fee (USD / INR lakh)Differentiator
University of Notre Dame#300#16867,434 / 59.3 lakhCatholic mission, tight-knit Mendoza MBA cohort

Vanderbilt University#182NA65,000 / 57.2 lakh (market estimate)Owen MBA smaller cohort, healthcare focus

Notre Dame stands out for the Mendoza MBA’s 92% employment rate and USD 165,000 median salary, both above the peer set. The residential Catholic campus culture is a genuine fit-filter, not a marketing line.

Notre Dame suits Indian applicants who want a top-20 US National ranked degree with an intense residential campus, Mendoza’s finance and consulting recruiting pipeline, and STEM-designated MS routes that unlock 36 months of OPT. Total two-year investment lands near INR 165 lakh against a Mendoza MBA median of INR 145 lakh, and F-1 study in USA post-completion OPT gives graduates a clear runway to H-1B.

It is not the right fit for applicants who need substantial international need-based aid or prefer an urban coastal campus, since Notre Dame is need-aware for undergraduates and sits in small-town Indiana. A closer match on those points is Boston College, which offers a similar Catholic mission with East Coast city access.

Overview

Personal interaction and teaching to benefit my studies. I also started out with no friends so I had to go out of my comfort zone to meet so many new people. This university has allowed me to develop my confidence, interaction with others and my academic skills.

Fees

Notre Dame is way more expensive than any other university in Perth. I got told it was the same price in my interview but that was a lie.

I hold Diploma in Education and a 3 year Bachelor of Education in Mathematics. I would like to know if I need to apply for the masters using the two certificates. I started the diploma in education in 2009 and completed in 2012 then followed in 2013 to 2016. Do I stand the chance to apply with both

Your Bachelor's is needed. Masters programs require a full Bachelor's degree with competitive GPA (Average unweighted GPA is 4.6 on a 5.0 scale or 97-100%).
