Mills College International Student Admissions

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • Complete academic records and school certificates from the previously attended institution.
    • Certified by the institution's office registrar.
    • College/ University transcripts including courses in progress (for international transfer students)
    • Official transcripts that are not in English must be accompanied along with the certified English translation.
  • No bar has been set for GPA requirement but a GPA of 3.0 or higher is recommended.
  • Complete secondary school transcripts, including courses in progress
  • Certification of Finances Form
  • Bank documentation should constitute an authenticated English translation and show accessible funds in US dollars.
  • Standardized test scores are not compulsory but homeschooled students and students who graduate from schools without traditional grades are required to submit a standardized test score.
  • Proof of English proficiency for non-native English speakers.
  • Letter of Recommendation based on programs requirements.
  • An updated resume consisting of professional experience and educational qualifications.
  • Letter of Intent or Statement of purpose which highlights an applicant’s career objective and future goals.
  • Departmental requirements: Some departments may require a separate departmental application, portfolio, audition or interview.

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

International applicants are required to submit any one of the following test scores to demonstrate English proficiency. However, for application in English creative writing and literature programs, the college requires a slightly higher level of proficiency.

Visa Process for International Students

  • International applicants will be issued Form I-20 from the university.
  • Applicants will need to provide the following documents to receive the Form I-20:
    • Submit a 300 USD non-refundable enrollment deposit.
    • Copy of passport
    • Original Certificate of Finances
    • Proof of financial support
    • Bank statement
    • Sponsor letter, if applicable
  • Complete the I-20 and pay the SEVIS I-901 fee.
  • Applicants then need to apply for the F-1 or J-1 visa. Submit the form and pay the application fee.
  • Schedule and attend the visa interview
