Manchester University Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Manchester University sets one common English-proficiency bar for undergraduate and graduate international applicants, plus programme-specific academic thresholds.
- Undergraduate academic: Class 12 completion with certified transcripts; officially published Indian equivalence is not stated, but 70% and above is recommended.
- Postgraduate academic: bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (roughly 50% to 55%, CGPA 5.5/10) for PharmD and 2.7 (roughly 55% to 60%) for MS in Pharmacogenomics.
- English proficiency (verified minimums): TOEFL iBT 79, TOEFL paper-based 550, IELTS 6.5, PTE Academic 53, DuoLingo 110, SAT 400 or ACT 20.
- Credential verification: World Education Services (WES) course-by-course evaluation mandatory for every foreign transcript. Processing takes 2 to 4 weeks.
- Financial documentation: proof of one full year of funds; passport copy and one recommendation letter in English are also required.
Key insight: Manchester does not run pre-sessional English or intensive language instruction, so admitted students must be proficient in academic English from day one. Applicants below the TOEFL 79 or IELTS 6.5 bar must retest rather than expect an on-arrival bridge.
Manchester University Acceptance Rate 2027
Manchester University does not publish an official acceptance rate for the current cycle. Third-party admissions data compiled from federal IPEDS reporting places the figure at 71% (estimated), placing Manchester in the moderately selective band for US regional private colleges.
International applicants who meet the English-proficiency floor and WES-verified academic minimums are admitted at rates broadly similar to domestic applicants. Programme-specific selectivity is much sharper at Fort Wayne: the PharmD interview seat pool is capped, and DPT admission is competitive against a national applicant pool.
Reality check: A 71% rate does not mean automatic entry. Manchester screens for a coherent academic record, English proficiency and a demonstrated ability to fund one full year of study before the I-20 is issued.

Manchester University Campus, Facilities and Student Life
Manchester University runs two campuses in Indiana. The 200-acre North Manchester campus hosts undergraduates, while Fort Wayne houses the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions.
- Location and transport: North Manchester sits 40 miles west of Fort Wayne. Nearest major airport is Fort Wayne International, with Chicago O’Hare a four-hour drive.
- Housing: on-campus at $7,245 (₹6.87 Lakh) per year for a double room. Manchester guarantees housing for first-year international students who apply by the deadline.
- Notable facility: the Science Center and Jean Childs Young Intercultural Center support pre-health cohorts and international programming.
- Indian student community: the international-student office coordinates with peer mentors and hosts a start-of-semester orientation for new arrivals from India.
What Indian students say: The town is quiet and safe, which suits focused study, but new arrivals should plan for a car-share or bicycle to reach grocery stores. Faculty are accessible, and small class sizes make office-hour meetings straightforward.
Manchester University Scholarships 2027
Manchester University offers one internationally-facing tuition award and admits international students to selected merit tiers, alongside external funding options. The university states clearly that full scholarships are not offered to international students.
| Scholarship | Type | Award value | Eligibility | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| International Student Scholarship | Merit, tuition-only | Portion of tuition; percentage fixed at admission | Academic achievement plus SAT, TOEFL or IELTS results | Aligned with application deadline |
| Presidential Scholarship (Manchester merit) | Merit, tuition | Value tier used by Manchester at academic 3.9 GPA equivalent | Indicative Class 12 marks of 90% and above; verify at official page | Aligned with application deadline |
| Dean’s Scholarship (Manchester merit) | Merit, tuition | Value tier used by Manchester at 3.5 to 3.89 GPA equivalent | Indicative Class 12 marks of 80% to 89%; verify at official page | Aligned with application deadline |
| Faculty Scholarship (Manchester merit) | Merit, tuition | Value tier used by Manchester at 3.25 to 3.49 GPA equivalent | Indicative Class 12 marks of 75% to 79%; verify at official page | Aligned with application deadline |
[Source: Manchester University International Student Scholarship policy; merit tiers as published]
Planning note: The International Student Scholarship award is fixed at admission and stays the same percentage of tuition for all four years. Moving off-campus after enrolment cuts the award by 25%, so residential Indian students should keep the on-campus room to protect the aid.

Manchester University Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
Manchester University publishes outcomes-based data for its professional and graduate cohorts, and the Fort Wayne health-sciences programmes have the strongest employment record.
- PharmD employment: 97.8% of Doctor of Pharmacy graduates are employed or in residency within six months of graduation.
- Overall six-month outcomes: roughly 96% of Manchester graduates are employed or enrolled in further study within six months, per the university’s outcomes report.
- Sectors: pharmacy chains, community and hospital pharmacy, clinical research and pharmacogenomics roles for PharmD and MS PGx cohorts; teaching, accounting and healthcare for UG graduates.
- Alumni signals: Manchester counts a Nobel Prize winner in chemistry (Paul Flory) and a former FDA Commissioner (Jane E. Henney) among its alumni, indicative of the institution’s research and public-service pipeline.
- Careers support: the Career Development Office runs one-on-one coaching, and Fort Wayne graduate cohorts receive placement help from programme directors. F-1 graduates qualify for 12 months of OPT, extended to 36 months for STEM majors.
Insider note: Median starting salaries for Indian graduates are not disclosed by Manchester at cohort level. PharmD graduates in the US Midwest typically earn a market-median starting salary of $115,000 to $135,000 (₹109.1 Lakh to ₹128.0 Lakh), with community pharmacy at the upper end.
Manchester University vs Peer Universities
Manchester is compared below with three US regional private universities of similar tier and one larger Indiana peer, on the metrics an Indian applicant weighs first.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | US News Regional Midwest 2026 | Avg Annual UG Fee ($ / ₹ Lakh) | One-line differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Manchester University | Not ranked | #84 | $36,484 / 34.6 Lakh | Small liberal-arts core with PharmD and MS PGx at Fort Wayne |
| Valparaiso University (Indiana) | Not ranked | Regional band | Verify on official page | Broader UG portfolio including engineering |
| Anderson University (Indiana) | Not ranked | Regional band | Verify on official page | Faith-based liberal arts with nursing |
| Goshen College (Indiana) | Not ranked | Regional band | Verify on official page | Peace-studies focus and Mennonite affiliation |
| Butler University (Indianapolis) | Not ranked in QS Top 1000 | Not ranked (National tier) | Verify on official page | Larger urban campus with pharmacy and business |
Manchester’s differentiator among these peers is its combination of a low-cost small liberal-arts base with an accredited Fort Wayne PharmD, giving Indian pre-health applicants an integrated pathway that most regional peers do not offer. The financial-aid load and social-mobility recognition set it apart from more expensive Indiana private options that Indian families may also explore among MBA universities in USA.
Manchester University suits Indian applicants who want a small, close-contact US liberal-arts undergraduate education, or a professionally accredited PharmD or MS in Pharmacogenomics at Fort Wayne. Total four-year residential cost of roughly $206,856 (₹196.2 Lakh) is offset by the International Student Scholarship, and PharmD graduates place at 97.8% within six months. Indian pre-health and pre-pharmacy candidates using the F-1 route to a US professional licence get the strongest ROI.
Manchester is a poorer fit for applicants set on a QS-top-200 research brand, or for those needing MSNGx, which is not open to international students. Those applicants may prefer Butler University’s larger Indianapolis campus for pharmacy and business.
Manchester University FAQs
Ques. Which Manchester University programs are open to Indian applicants?
Ans. Manchester University accepts Indian applicants to all undergraduate majors and to five graduate programmes: PharmD (on-campus only), Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Athletic Training, MS in Pharmacogenomics (on-site or online) and the MBA. The Master of Science in Nutrition and Nutrigenomics is expressly closed to international students. Undergraduate admissions are through the Common Application or Manchester’s own portal.
Ques. Does Manchester University require GRE or GMAT for graduate admission?
Ans. Manchester University’s published PharmD, MS in Pharmacogenomics and MBA pages do not list a mandatory GRE or GMAT score for international applicants. The PharmD asks for a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and prerequisite coursework with a C-minus grade or better. Indian applicants should confirm current programme-year testing requirements with the graduate admissions office at intladmit@manchester.edu.
Ques. How much financial support must an Indian applicant show?
Ans. Manchester University requires financial documentation covering one full academic year of tuition, housing, meals and fees before it will issue the I-20 form. For undergraduates in 2026-2027, that figure is $51,714 (₹49.0 Lakh) after room and board. A $500 (₹47,415) non-refundable deposit is due 1 July for Fall or 1 December for Spring intake.
Ques. Can Manchester University international students work part-time in the United States?
Ans. F-1 visa holders enrolled at Manchester University can work on-campus for up to 20 hours per week during the academic session and full-time in official breaks. Off-campus work needs Curricular Practical Training authorisation tied to an academic requirement. After graduation, F-1 students qualify for 12 months of Optional Practical Training, extended to 36 months for STEM majors.
Ques. Is the WES credential evaluation mandatory for Indian applicants?
Ans. Yes. Manchester University requires a course-by-course credential evaluation from World Education Services for every Indian academic transcript. The evaluated report must be sent by WES directly to Manchester admissions. Standard WES turnaround is two to four weeks after all documents arrive, so Indian applicants should submit WES requests at least six weeks before the university application deadline.
Ques. What English proficiency alternatives does Manchester University accept?
Ans. Manchester University accepts TOEFL iBT 79, TOEFL paper-based 550, IELTS 6.5, PTE Academic 53, DuoLingo English Test 110, SAT 400 or ACT 20. The university does not offer pre-sessional English instruction, so applicants must clear one of these scores before admission. Indian applicants taught in English medium for the last three to four years may request a waiver from admissions.
Ques. Are Indian education loans accepted by Manchester University sponsors?
Ans. Manchester University itself does not publish a loan-lender list, but Indian public-sector banks such as SBI and Bank of Baroda, and NBFCs such as HDFC Credila, Avanse and Auxilo, routinely finance US regional-private study, using the I-20 cost of attendance as the sanction basis. A collateralised loan is often needed at the full $51,714 (₹49.0 Lakh) annual figure.
Ques. Can F-1 dependents accompany a Manchester University student on an F-2 visa?
Ans. Yes. Spouses and unmarried children under 21 of a Manchester University F-1 student can apply for the F-2 dependent visa. The student must add each dependent to the SEVIS record and show extra financial support of roughly $6,000 to $8,000 (₹5.7 Lakh to ₹7.6 Lakh) per dependent per year. F-2 spouses cannot work in the US, and F-2 children can enrol in school.

Overview
I have a huge interest in psychology and wanted to further my opportunities by having a master's in that field. I received A levels in psychology and wanted to gain more knowledge of the subject. Having a psychology degree opens a lot of doors in many different areas so I don't have to worry about finding a niche job.
Fees
I used a student loan which was stressful. However, I feel like in my situation it was the only way that I was going to be able to afford to go and have the opportunity to get a degree. My current fee per year is over 9000 which is beyond ridiculous in my opinion and definitely isn't worth the price.
