Delhi University (DU) PG Admission 2019: Eligibility, Application Process, Admit Card, Result

Delhi University (DU) is one of the premier universities in India and is known for its high standards in teaching and research. DU attracts eminent scholars to its faculty. Delhi University offers admission to PG courses in various specializationsThere is a common registration portal for all PG courses offered by all the Faculties/Departments of Delhi University. Delhi University also offers correspondence courses at the postgraduate level through the School of Open Learning, Delhi University (SOLDU).

All the DU aspirants seeking admission to the Postgraduate (PG) Courses, excluding the courses where admission is done on the basis of CAT/GATE or any such score, are required to register online (http://www.du.ac.in). Candidates must pay INR. 750/- (INR. 300/- for SC/ST) as application fees through Netbanking, Debit/Credit card or UPI.

Delhi University (DU) Result 2019

Delhi University follows odd and even semester pattern for all the courses offered. End-semester examinations are conducted in the months of June and December for even and odd semesters, respectively. Delhi University Result is published on its official website and can be checked through the following procedure:

2. Click on the ‘Results’ tab on the home page.
3. Click on Relevant Course Link from the left sidebar and a new web page will open.
4. Click on the Relevant Course link from the links available.
5. Download and Save the PDF for future use.

Delhi University PG Courses Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: There is no age limit in Delhi University and its respective colleges for admission to PG courses.
However, the regulatory bodies, such as Medical Council of India (MCI), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Bar Council of India (BCI), National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), Dental Council of India (DCI), etc. have prescribed the minimum age requirement in their respective regulations.

Educational Qualifications:

To be eligible for admission at DU in the field of LL.M or LL.B, the candidates must;

  • Possess a valid LL.B. Degree with a minimum score of 50% (45% for SC/ST)
  • The qualifying degree must be from DU or any other Indian or Foreign University recognized as equivalent by the University of Delhi.

For B.P.Ed:

  • Bachelor‘s degree in any discipline with 50% marks and having at least participation in Inter College/Inter-zonal/District/ School competition in sports & Games as recognized by the AIU/IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India. OR
  • Bachelor‘s degree in physical education with 45% marks OR
  • Bachelor‘s degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied physical education as a compulsory elective subject. 

MA

The University offers two years MA program in various disciplines at its respective colleges.

Eligibility Criteria: You must have a BA (Honours)/BA Degree (10+2+3 scheme) with relevant fields (10+2+3 scheme) or its equivalent from Delhi University or any other University as equivalent with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.

For M.A. in Foreign languages, the candidates must score a minimum of 40% or above.

M.Sc

The University offers two years M.Sc. program in various specialistions at its respective colleges.

Eligibility Criteria: You must have a B.Sc. (Honours)/B.Sc. Degree (10+2+3 scheme) with relevant fields (10+2+3 scheme) or its equivalent from Delhi University or any other University as equivalent with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.

Bachelor of Education [B.Ed]

B.Ed Special Education (Visual Impairment) and B.Ed. Program

Delhi University offers two-year B.Ed. program at the Central Institute of Education and it also offers B.Ed special Education program only at Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education.

No of Seats for B.Ed Special Education: 30 Seats

Eligibility Criteria: You should have passed with at least 50% marks in Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Science/Social Science/Humanities/Commerce or BE/B.Tech Degree with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto.

For SC/ST candidates, they must have passed only in the qualifying degree examination.

OBC, Children/Widows of Armed Personnel, including Para-Military Personnel, killed/disabled in Action (C/WAP), Persons with Disabilities (PWD) category candidates will be allowed a concession of 5% marks in the minimum qualification marks.

B.Ed. Special Education (Mental Retardation) and B.Ed. Program

DU offers this two-year program at Lady Irwin College.

Eligibility Criteria: Women Candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelors Degree and/or in the Master's degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Humanities program.

Or the women candidates with Bachelor‘s in Engineering or Technology with a specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent.


Delhi University PG Courses Application Process

B.Ed , MA & M.Sc

The applicants seeking admission to the Postgraduate (PG) Courses, except for the Courses where admission is done on the basis of CAT / GATE or any such score, are required to register online.

Students can apply for the Delhi University PG Courses through online mode only. Following are the steps to submit the applications for admission to any of the courses:

Step 1: Log on to Delhi University PG Admission Portal- http://www.du.ac.in
Step 2: Create the login details by clicking on the “New User Registration” from the right sidebar.
Step 3: After complete this process, a verification email will be sent on your email account with a confirmation link.
Step 4: Now log on to the PG admission portal using “registered email-id” and created “password” to fill the online registration form.
Step 5: Upload following required documents

  • Passport size photograph (maximum size: 50kb; Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG)
  • Scanned signature (maximum size: 50kb; Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG)
  • Self-attested copy of Class 10th & 12th Certificate (maximum size: 100kb, Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG/ PDF)
  • Self-attested copy of Identity Proof (maximum size: 50kb, Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG)
  • Self-attested copy of Caste Certificate, if applicable (maximum size: 100kb, Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG/ PDF)

Step 6: After uploading the above-mentioned documents, Click on “Submit My Profile”.
Step 7: Proceed with the online registration by clicking on “Apply in New Course”.
Step 8: Fill all the required details like education details, courses to apply, admission criteria (Merit or Entrance), etc.
Step 9: Choose the exam city.
Step 10: After filling all the details, Click the “Save Application”.

There are three options available at the bottom of the page, which are: 'Click to Modify Application', 'Pay Fee' & 'My Home'

Make Payment:

After providing complete information, you will proceed with the fee payment by clicking on ‘Pay Fee’.

Online Application fee for admission to all PG Courses

Application fee for Unreserved, OBC and other categoriesINR 750/- for each course
Application fee for SC/ST/PWDINR 300/- for each course

The application fee can be made through Net banking, Debit/Credit Card or UPI.

Note: Your application submission process will be completed only after payment of the online registration fee. The application fee is non-refundable.

Admit Card

The Admit Card can be downloaded from the Delhi University’s official website. The applicants will be required to log-in by entering their form number and DOB.
The Admit Card needs to be printed on a clear A4 size sheet. 

The candidate must carry the Admit Card at the time of the exam.


Delhi University PG Courses Selection Procedure

B.Ed , MA & M.Sc

There are two modes of admission for postgraduate courses in all the Faculties/Departments of Delhi University, except the ones offering inter-disciplinary or professional courses:

Through Merit or Direct: 50% of the total intake shall be filled by direct admission of the students of Delhi University only, on the basis of merit. Students may check Delhi University Cut Off lists to confirm their admission to the desired course.

Through Entrance: Remaining 50% of the seats shall be filled through an entrance examination and Interview/Group Discussion.

For the exact date of the Entrance Exam of individual courses, one should visit the PG admission portal. There will be a NEGATIVE MARKING for an incorrect answer. While each correct answer will be awarded FOUR marks, ONE mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

In the case of a tie in the Entrance Test marks, the following order of preference will be applied:

  • Candidates with a higher percentage in Qualifying Examination as mentioned in the eligibility criteria will be given preference.
  • Candidates with a higher percentage in the final year of bachelor degree will be given preference, then the preceding year and so on.
  • Candidates having higher aggregate marks (five subjects including one language) in class XII Board examination will be given preference

The above-mentioned criteria shall be followed in the case of Merit-Based admissions as well.

The entrance examination shall be conducted at the Centres located in the following cities:  Bengaluru, Delhi, Jammu, Kolkata, Nagpur, and  Varanasi.

Candidates MUST bring the following documents on the day of examination at the test centre.

  • Print out of the downloaded Admit card
  • One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) 
  • Any photo ID issued by the Govt. of India (original, valid and nonexpired)
  • PwD certificate (if applicable)

For the courses having both the Entrance Test and Interview, the list of shortlisted candidates will be made available on the PG Admission Portal.

Selection Process for Integrated M.Sc.- Ph.D. Combined Degree (Biomedical Research, ACBR)

The admission to Ph.D. The program will be done on the basis of merit and availability of vacancies in the preferred research area. There will be one common Entrance Test for admission to the M.Sc. and M.Sc.-Ph.D. Combined Degree Program in Biomedical Sciences.

Exam Pattern

The NTA will be conducting the Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) 2019 from July 03, 2019, to July 08, 2019.

  • The test will be computer-based and will comprise of 100 MCQs.
  • 4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
  • 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • The duration of the test will be of 2 hours.
  • The syllabus will be based on the UG level study pattern.

The candidate must carry the following documents at the time of the entrance exam:

  • Admit Card (Print out)
  • Photo Identity Proof ( Aadhar/PAN card)

Hi Mahinar, till the time of document verification, it is necessary to have mark sheets (in which student has qualified the exam) of the qualifying examination. If you fail to do so, then, you admission will not get confirmed.
